Our Chinese was lovely , all full up now .
Ann, tomorrow is our Anniversary , 35 years !! i was pleased with the roses they are pretty.
The Rose people found out the name of the other old rose we have in the garden , it's a Victorian Bourbon Queen Rose ,another one with a really heavy perfume .
Don't know how canals were filled , they must have filled them some how , maybe from rivers ?

Is it your wedding anniversary Mandy?? If so, I hope you have had a lovely time today. All those choccies are making me drool, I'll pass on the peanuts though, OH would love them!!. The roses sound gorgeous in those colours. I remember a neglected tangerine coloured rose when I moved in my previous house. It was ancient but so gorgeous I kept it and pruned and fed it and it had beautiful big flowers after that. I never did find out the name of it.
Crikey.....that's a lot of water butts!! Mine are out of sight.....you'd need a big shed to hide 31!!! I bet he doesn't run out very quickly.
If Hannah says the dress is ok Jane, I think I'd leave it as it is. Is that the whole outfit sorted now??
Last night OH asked me how canals got filled with water?? :-S I haven't a clue if there wasn't a river close by.......anyone know? :-( I'm sure it can't have been just rainwater.........would take ages!! lol

Evening all
The sun has finely come out and it's 8.15 would you believe it, :-S still its nice to see it anyway. We had lasagne for dinner which was great. followed by fruit and ice cream. only thing is the mess it leaves in the casserole, I will have to steep it for an hour or so before I put it in the dishwasher,
what a lot of goodies you got Mandy, bet those chocolates don't last long, I know they wouldn't in my house. Not keen on dark chocolate and I can't eat nuts so they would be safe lol :-D

That is what I must do Fiona, sort some clothes out for a charity bag. It is breezier still here now, the house doors are rattling!!
There is a hungry man on the prowl in the kitchen!! I'd better get some tea I think........simple salad and cold meats.
Hope you have a nice evening Anne. :-)

Well i was right ,hubby wanted the money for some flowers , i have a lovely vase of Yellow/orange Roses !! two boxes of chocolates !! a bar of Dark chocolate ,oh and a bag of Salted Peanuts!!! because i know you love them he said LOL
Lovely photo's Anne, thank you , it does look a nice place to walk round ,i like the lily thing too.
So there fun and games round your place then Jane ,with trying to put a tent up in the wind LOL i think you can get tents now that you just inflate !! no poles to cope with . What colour is your dress Jane ? i'am sure it must look nice as Hannah would soon say if it didn't wouldn't she ?
Ann, you will have a long way to go to catch up with a chap on the television the other night, he had loads of water butts in his garden , i think it was Thirty some thing !!! they were everywhere ,but it was a big place . We don't have any butts , but we are thinking about having one behind the shed . Dad use to collect the water from his green house roof , i think he had a piece of small guttering rigged up some how , he always had a full butt of water so it must have worked .
Just ordered the Chinese for later , we'll collect it as we come home from sisters about eight thirty .

Me again. I was just thinking our Shirl still hasn't been back.Has anyone heard from her? And Sheila hasn't been about for a while either.Maybe she is in Wales with Jessica and April and little Matt.
I have had to come in as the wind is just making my eyes run, even with sun glasses on :-P
Ann ,I thought you were going away for the night(or did I get it wrong)? Anne,I hope you enjoy your Italian meal and the Concert tonight.
Mandy,I was looking at my cropped trousers ,but they all seem so wide.Maybe I have got used to my slim legged jeans.I like the word Slim lol
Frank I will come to you tomorrow for lunch but if you don't mind will give the Broad Beans a miss :-( I'm not doing a roast this weekend.Tonight it is Pork Steaks, with a mushroom whole grain mustard and creme fraiche sauce(not sure how well that will turn out),saute Charlotte Potatoes,Asparagus, baby carrots, and flipping spinach (again)I'm getting fed up with it already lol
I had my dress arrive yesterday for the wedding in July.I think it will be fine, but it is longer than I was hoping. It's only because I am such a short a***.I said to Hannah I thought I should have it shortened .But she says it looks nice just as it is,and to leave it.I'm not sure really :-S

Anne the pics are lovely...thank you. That place looks so tranquil and restful......I like the lily sculpture thingy in the water. Yes a hosepipe will make things a lot easier, watering the pots. We have decided to get another water butt for behind the greenhouse......we will have 5 then, 2 behind the greenhouse and 3 behind the shed!! The greenhouse roof is bigger than the shed roof and I have a pipe come through the corner of the greenhouse to water direct from the butt, and that gets used quite quickly, so it will last longer with 2 butts.
I've cleaned the kitchen and boiled some eggs to go with our salad.......now I need to sort the house insurance........OH watching the darts now!!

The Wind! The Wind! is so strong. But it's a very warm one.Strappy top and shorts for me. Hannah and her pals are having a BBQ later and pitching the tent (trial run) so they know how to put it up before they go to Glastonbury. It says it should take 30 minutes !!.I said to time themselves lol
Chris has just pulled the first 2 garlic up.They look good.I think we have Pea Weavil on a couple of the Pea plants,so they will be sprayed later.I think everything will have to have a really good watering today as some of the veg is beginning to look a bit tired with a few leafs starting to look yellow.
Your poor neighbour Kim,having to miss his Mum's funeral and being so ill himself. It doesn't really sound very good for him does it.I just hope he is pain free and comfortable for whatever time he has.
Sorry I haven't commented on all your posts now ,but I have read them all.I need to get on with some things.BBL

Afternoon All,
Sunny and breezy here........I've come in for a fizzy drink with ice!! OH didn't go for the chippings in the end yesterday, but we went to the builder's merchant up the road and got some this morning......cheaper too, on special offer!!
I like the sound of all those veg Kim,.....purple veg are supposed to be very good for you, but I haven't tried purple carrots....yet.
Just been and done more watering........OH never seems to give things enough, but keeps telling me they have had plenty!! I know they haven't.....he's far too quick!! lol Picked some, landcress, tiny beetroot leaves, rocket, radishes and purple lettuce for later. The tomatoes are doing well and should be turning colour soon.
Better go and do a bit of HW now and then back to looking at the cataogues to decide which slabs to have??
Mel I burnt the surface on some canes to make stripes on them one year. They were for sweet peas in a pot and looked very effective. We have the tiny red spiders all over the white window frames at the moment. They are there for about 3 weeks, then they vanish.

Morning all from a very different North Yorkshire. It's cloudy with a strong north easterly and, instead of yesterdays 27 degrees, its now 14. Must say that we feel more active today and I have done some ironing and dusting ( friends coming tomorrow) whilst hubby has cut the hedge and washed some windows. One advantage of the wind being that the towels are blowing well on the line.At least I willk not be expected to water neighbours plants tonight. They have gone to Crete for a week and I am in charge of the pots and they have dozens. This year they have bought a hose pipe which is making life a lot easierI am always worried in case something dies but so far so good. Jane We put the moth trap under the arbour which is out of the wind and we have been thrilled with the numbers of species caught. I never reolised just what is flying around out there at night.. Kim Can I come eat at your place?? sounds wonderful. Off to make boring omlettes for lunch but we are having Italian tonight before the concert. :-) :-)

Hello everyone,
Weather has been all over the place today. I sat on my boney butt in the pool yard and did some weeding this afternoon. Stubborn little buggers they were, and I am totally pooped now. One of our elderly neighbours brought me up some muffins, so I had a good excuse to stop and have a cuppa.
OH is walking around the house in his beanie. I talked him into wearing it as his temp. is always so low. That did the trick!!! Hands are now warm and face is very flushed.
We had New York sirloin with mashed sweet potato, yellow and purple carrots, broccolini, mushroom and silverbeet for dinner. It was very colourful and delicious. Keith went to the growers' markets again today and came back with lots of goodies. I have never seen purple carrots before!!!!
Joel has gone off to a party and Miranda has just finished a shift at K-mart. It is very quiet tonight and my thoughts are very much with our sick neighbour as his mother's funeral was held in Victoria today. Their daughter flew down yesterday to represent the family. I feel so helpless, wishing we could do more for them and seeing him fade a little more each day. Preparing for the worst, but hoping for the best. Sorry, I'm a bit lost tonight.
Have a happy Saturday and if I don't fall asleep on the couch, I will come back and say goodnight. Have not worked on my family tree for weeks, such a naughty girl!!!!
Time is 8.55 pm EST and raining out there now. Cheers, Kim :-)

Morning all,
All this talk about going to bed with no cloths on !!!! this is a family thread. Joking apart. We only ever have a top sheet and a cotton throw. Summer and Winter. When we go upto Conrads. I sleep on top of the bed, can't stand the weight of cloths on me. Ros is starting to feel the cold (OLD AGE) so I bet this winter it will be a light blankert also.
Another little game I played with my two was "Fly away Peter Fly away Paul." they could never work out where the paper went.
Had a Chinese last night. Thought we would get it from one of the oldest in the area. No where as good as it use to be. That will teach us to stay with what you know !!!! I suppose tonight will be an Indian. But I know she won't want to go to the restaurant. So it will be a Takaway again.
Conrad and Jan are coming for lunch tomorrow. LEG OF LAMB (again JANE) It's Jan's favourite meat. So I am treating her. We managed to get fresh peas,Broad beens, Runner beans. baby carrots, Jersey Royals, with Roast parsnips. With yorkshire pudding. I think we will have enough to eat.
Very changable morning today, quite a breeze, and a lot cooler. The lawn needs a trim, but I don't know that I should at the moment. I know I will get it in the neck if I do HER INDOORS

Morning Jane Morning Mel
Not sure if it's the pollen in Sofia's case but the little one had a a red and sticky eye yesterday and had yellow puss in the corner, I thought she may have the start of conjunctivitis she kept rubbing it which made it look worse, I told SIL when he came but knew he wouldn't remember to tell daughter so I text her before going to bed last night, hope it's not bad this morning.
Dull cloudy here, hope the sun comes out this afternoon, OH out on his bike, so we will do the food shopping this afternoon after lunch.
coffee time. Mel I think it's a lovely touch to a wedding to hear the bells, it's really something nice to remember on the brides special day but it must be very hard work for you , does your arms ache after ?
