I used to help out at school jumble sales when my kids were small...Thats when I noticed there are bargains to get.
I wouldnt mind paying 99P for a painting that turns out in the future to be worth thousands.. I have seen this on some of the programnes on tv.
Annx...there are some bargains to be had out there.
Frank I was born after the war and our house had abig field opposite and there was an old doogle bug still lying in the field..It was dead....I hope so at least because we used to play in the fields and make traps along the paths by tying long grass together to trip people up...The things we used to do

Talking of Babies who don't sleep. My Sister was one of those ,right up intil the age of about 4.When she was in a cot ,the cot was next to Dad .He would sleep with his hand holding hers through the bars. She would scream the house down if she couldn't hold Dad's hand. Some nights he would be up all night with her and then go off to work .He was a Lecturer and often fell asleep leaning against the wall as he was teaching his students lol.I remember we always had to keep the landing/Hall light on for my sister.I still do that now!!!!!!!! If I wake in the night and find the light off on the landing ,I turn it back on again. It's daft ,but I have to do it.lol :-S :-S

A week or two back my only suit, bought at the Arthritis shop ages ago was given to The Heart Foundation, along with loads of other stuff.

OMG Frank.........your poor mother must have gone grey early with the things you got up to..........tinkering with live bombs!!!!!! The poor boy who 'sank' in the sewage farm reminded me that mum used to say that when she was little the best tomatoes grew at the sewage farm. lol My first MIL had a table lamp made out of a shell case from the war.
I have a look around charity shops when I take stuff in Pat and have bought a few things. After all, a lot of what I take in hasn't even been worn!! OH got a fantastic 'as new' wool Harris tweed jacket about 15 years ago. It cost £5 and he had it cleaned and still wears it now. I've bought picture frames to repaint, an odd cd and baskets to do flower arrangements in too. I once bought a very cheap brass plant pot holder that cleaned up a treat.
That's just what my mum used to say Kim.......that she felt like throwing my sister out of the upstairs window at times!! lol I googled those birds.......don't they have BIG beaks.
I hope tomorrow goes well and it is nice that so many people will be turning out for Rod's funeral.
Maureen, I'm glad it printed off well. I might try that too.
Poor little Sofia must be a bit confused Fiona.......I bet in a day or two she will be ok as she gets used to everyone.
Shirl, will keep everything crossed for your test tomorrow.....I hope all goes well with it. Good luck XXXXXX
Off to watch Miss Marple now!!! lol See you all tomorrow.....

Shirl ,I don't know what you are going for ,but hope all goes well tomorrow. Frank do you mean the word Laxidaisical (still can't spell it) lol I can just picture you ferreting around for 'bomb' type things!.I'm surprised you have survived all these years lol.
My sister has just had her mortgage offer through in the nick of time today. If she hadn't got it by today her buyer was going to pull out.So she is hoping to move on July !st.It has been so stressful for them .She said her poor OH was in tears the other night with the worry of it all.Poor man he is such an easy going person and one of the nicest people you could ever meet.He must have been bottling everything up,what with selling the house ,looking for a job ,paying for a son at Uni etc. I'm not sure that we will move now when Chris retires. It just seems too much hassle. :-S :-S Meatballs smelling good.I have picked some Basil to garnish.I sound like my Mum lol 'Garnish' She would have thought that sounded posh !! ;-)

We have had the most torrential cloud burst here just over an hour ago. It has certainly watered the garden. The talk this afternoon was brilliant but no sign of mothers dress as she was not married until 1947.The station at Richmond is, as it's name suggests, the old railway station building which has been converted as a cinema/restaurant/community space and it houses some specialist shops ( mini brewery, cheesemaker etc) It is rum by volunteeres and is a super venue. We were gpoing to have a BBQ for tea but rain stopped play and I am now wondering just what to wear on my feet this weekend as it looks very much like rain. Kim I hope your day tomorrow is not too traumatic.Your weather seems to have been dreadful and puts our cloudburst into perspective. Hubbies second computer has arrived so he is happy as it seems to be behaving. These men and their toys. Must go and pack now then remake the bed water the plants empty the dishwasher and all the other things we women have to do before we leave home. :-D :-D

Mandy there was nothing we didn't get upto. Climbing trees, see who get the highest. Brick and stones fights across the River Roding. Shining over the river on the sewer pipe. Getting tomato plants from the local sewer farm. One lad saw these BIG ones and walked out across the crusty surface, only to find when he got further out it was SOFT on the surface and down he went up to his chest. He grabed the plants and managed to craw back to safety. He then went down to the river to wash himself off. I don't suppose any of you "YOUNG ONES" remember the incendary bombs, we had quite a lot round our way together with the "DOOGLE BUGS" We would go out collecting anything related to the war. One lad found a live incerdary bomb, and tried to open it. We all sat around waiting to see what was inside.!!!!!
We,all five youngsters would sit doing french knitting. Miles and miles of it. I think mum sewed it in circles for the plates to sit on . Jane haven't heard that word for many years !!!!
Hope everything goes off well tomorrow KIM. will be thinking of you. <3
Had a nice Roast chicken tonight, roast pots, parsnips, peas and carrot, cabbage, and broad beans. Ros is clearing up the kitchen now.

Pat I think it is the weather .I feel lacksidasical (sp) this afternoon. It is quite muggy . I haven't really bought clothes from Charity Shops.I don't know why as there are some lovely things.Makes me sound a bit snobbish(I'm not) lol.I do remember my Mum saying she could never wear something that someone else had worn as she had too many hand me downs when she was a child.Bless her,she did have a few airs and graces. We called her Hyacynth (Bucket) lol
That knitting with a cotton reel and nails, was Knitting Nancy or French Knitting. I loved doing that and made yards and yards.I remember buying one for Hannah when she was little.
Those blasted magpies!.I think one is called Buster(FRANK)!!!!! My sister is on the phone...must go.

Fiona,It's nice that Sofia is enjoying her holiday. What a pity for her other Grandma that Sofia won't go near her.I'm sure things will change as Sofia grows and gets to know her better .
I just spotted the young Magpies all sitting on the big trampoline next door. They looked hilarious!Like a load of thugs lol
It seems really dark here now.The clouds look as though the are gathering ready for rain tonight/tomorrow.
Frank I bought some of those Peas at Tes** last week.I agree ,they were lovely.
Liz ,you mentioned playing Shipwreck earlier. Was that a game where you couldn't touch the ground?

Thanks Mel, oh to be 20 something again, well I wouldn't mind 40 even.
Toddlers can be funny Fiona, I remember how mine were when we went to Spain, MIL was so excited to have them there I think it frightened them a bit, and just like Sofia's gran couldn't speak any English. They loved going when they were older, in fact they used to spend the whole summer holiday out there.

I am still ironing!!! but the pile is getting smaller. I thought if I had a good go then I would'nt have to do any for a while.
It has started to rain slightly here and we have had a helicopter flying around for ages. It frightened all the bantams and they were making a terrible noise so I went out and it had Electricity written right down the side. I think the banties thought it was a giant bird circling the skies.
OH out ringing tonight so two boiled eggs for me tonight and pasta for him. I have gone right off pasta at the moment and rice. So boring............................................. :-S

Afternoon everyone Warm here to day but cloudy and a little rain, Went to the usual coffee meeting this morning, and it was nice not having to rush back for lunch as I have no baby sitting this afternoon,
Daughter no 1 phoned from Italy, says all is fine, Sofia enjoyed the beach, playing in the sand but doesn't like going near the water,Im not surprised there's a lot of water in the Adriatic Sea lol :-) She is getting on with the other cousins there. and enjoys playing and running around, still won't let her mum out of her sight, makes a noise when daughter goes out of the room and creates a fuss when her mum goes to the loo or for a shower. Surprisingly she has taken to SIL dad but will have nothing to do with his mum, which I am sure will be a bit of an upset for her after not seeing her grandaughter for 9 months, who knows it's still early days , hopefully she will come round. it's to be expected with living so far away.
time to get back to the ironing, BBL

Newspaper soaked in parafin in a gas oven ***>>>>>******<<<<<<< Good Lord Frank it's a wonder you are with us today.
I have printed that poppy field photo off Ann, it's come out really good and I'm amazed I managed to enlarge it to A4 size now all I need is a wet and windy day to stay indoors and have a go at it but I bet I will find something else that needs doing first.
