I bought a pair of those Harem Trousers yesterday Don't laugh!! I though I looked a bit like something out of Ali Baba lol,and they would stay up.So they are going back later .I think I must have had a bit of a mad moment when I got them.Must have thought I was still 16 and not 56 :S Chris is at work ,Hannah at the Gym and I have to wait in until someone gets home as there is a delivery of something due.

Morning Mel Just seen your post. We really don't know what the situation is at the moment with the car people yet . or boyfriend insurance, but I don't think he will be able to hire a car for a long time. OH was saying this morning , the police may also take in consideration boyfriends driving skills, we don't know what speed he was doing at the time of the accident, or what the conditions of the road was like, after all even though there was faulty tyres etc on the hired car, they did drive up for 4 hours to Inverness with no problems,
These questions hopefully may be answered when we see them them this afternoon, all I can think of is that my girl is safe.. she's 24 I can't keep her wrapped in cotton wool , All you mums and dad's will know just how I feel.

Morning all Hi Kim
Another windy day, chilly but at least for the moment the sun is shining, OH gone to help friend with the fish tank this morning, I am still in my dressing gown, but will need to be ready for when he gets back at 1 , we have to collect daughter no 2 and boyfriend at the bus station in Edinburgh not Glasgow, it was cheaper to get a ticket on the bus straight to Edinburgh than to get a bus to Glasgow and they would also have had to change buses along the route.
I'm ready for another cup of coffee, and then I must get dressed.
BBL
Just had a text from Daughter saying they were on there way to the bus station in Inverness, and she will phone me when they are on the bus.

Morning All,
Fiona what a horrid experience for your daughter and boyfriend. I do hope they are not too sore this morning.
I have had many hired cars and vans in my time and have never checked to see if everything is ok!! I think you do expect that you would not be hired a car with faults. Will they be able to claim for their injuries?? It is certainly worth a try.
Rain in the air here today and it has been raining in the night I think. Thank goodness I brought all my washing in last night.
We have to ring for a wedding this afternoon at 2.45pm for 3pm wedding. This is quite annoying as we wanted to get on with the garden things we were doing. OH got quite a lot done on the build yesterday and he also filed the square pot I bought to sit my fairy on and tie her down so she won't fall and break this time.
I bought two floating ball solar lights for my reflecting pools on Thursday and they came on for the first time yesterday night. They are blue lights and looked quite good. They also have a little thing on the top so you could hang them up. May buy some more as I love garden lights that are solar powered.
Still trying to fill the tank from the well. I had the hose on all day yesterday and it is still only trickling out but I am getting there as the tank is a good half full now.
Kim my goats birthday was 2nd June. They were lovely and I raised them from a few hours old. When I moved down here to Devon mum would'nt let me bring them with me so I had to find a home for them.
Have some more chicks hatched out too. I think this one has 5 or 6. I have put here in the arc with Henny Penny and her chicks but they seem to have been sharing all the chicks and don't really know who is mum. They are really funny as they just go under whoever is nearest. If the weather improves I shall try and take some pics. I have taken some but not downloaded them yet.

Fiona, what a frightening episode for your family. I am very relieved that they weren't badly injured. You poor thing; what a shocking news to receive. Usually, you would sign your contract, petrol in the car and off you go. I don't know anyone who would walk around checking tyres and looking under the bonnet of a hire car!!
It is p***ing down here, just like in your photos Shirl, all dark and only 3.30 in the afternoon. The boys are watching the Sydney Swans game coming from Melbourne and Miranda has gone to the boyfriends - peace. On a serious note, I have just received some blood results back for her and they are not good. Cholesterol through the roof - for a 16 year old and these were done when she was not eating and very sick with the kidney infection. How bad would they have been a month ago??? Maybe she will start eating properly before it's too late. The doctor must be horrified.
Jane I will be very interested to know where Hannah's friend hails from in Aus. I've always imagined myself living in a cottage just like that of your friend. Postcard perfect!!!
Frank will be pleased to see you and Ros in Bateau Bay. The locals are very friendly, that is the ones that aren't high on drugs or running around with knives and other weapons. Just joking, we have those problems, but no more than anywhere else. Loved your pics, you looked very relaxed and very much "the man about town".
Annx, thank for the lovely photos. Sorry you lost those palms, how healthy they looked in those pics .
Anne I hope your migraine improves very soon.
Off to have a cuppa with the boys. Hi to Maureen, sorry if I have forgotten anyone. Not game to move from this page in case I lose it all, ahhh!!!

So sorry to hear what happened to your daughter and boyfriend Fiona and thank goodness they weren't badly hurt and that no one else was involved.
I'm afraid Anne is right in what she says. When at work we were told it was our responsibility to check the hire cars/pool car before we used them as it would be us breaking the law if we used them in an unroadworthy condition. The last thing you wanted to be doing when you had appointments and targets to meet was checking lights, brakes, indicators, tyres, wipers and horn!!! I must say since then I do these basic checks on courtesy cars. I imagine the car hire firm could have problems claiming on their insurance if the police have said the car wasn't roadworthy.

Fiona ,you must be so relieved to have spoken to your daughter.I reckon tomorrow when they wake up they will feel really stiff and bruised, and feel like they have been hit by a ten ton truck.I know I felt like that after a car I was in ended in a ditch(and that car didn't roll over) I thought I was getting away with the dog walk in the morning. But no! Chris has surgery (again on a saturday). The more I think about it ,he has little time off really. No wonder he is cream crackered all the time. I will be off to bed soon ,so will say Night Night now. Toodle Pip everyone xx

Jane, just phoned daughter no 2 again, she is ok, a bit sore where she bumped her head, and a big bruise from the seat belt. Story goes so far, No idea how boyfriend lost control of car but it seemed to roll over and over a few times landing in a ditch at the side of the road on its roof , ditch which was full of heather and brambles. car was a 2 door fiesta and they could not open the doors or windows, so they undid the seat belts and boyfriend climbed to the back where the window was broken and managed to smash it open with his hand , he's only got a cut, not a fracture it seems, it is usually a very quiet road, but today there was quite a few cars going past and a car stopped and it was a lady who was an St Johns Ambulance member, she got out to help and phoned the police. when they arrived they breathalysed daughters boyfriend but were happy to see that he was sober .
they did a lot of checking over the car and saw that it had a very bald tyre, which is illegal, also a snow tyre which should never have been on at all. Boyfriend dad spoke to car hire firm and they are making arrangements for the car to be collected and brought home. what the outcome with them is , we don't know yet. and that's all we know so far , will get more details from them tomorrow.
But they are both fine and as you say it will probably be tomorrow when they wake up that they may find more bumps and bruises.
I'm going for a bath, as I need to relax, my mind keeps going round and round just thinking how lucky they were.
Hey July 28Th Jane was my mum & dad's wedding anniversary.

Jane I have replied to your PM
Mandy Yes but I cannot put them on until hubby gets back as I am not very good at technical things. Will get some sent next week. It's a beautiful evening here and the birds are singing away. We have a song thrush which sings for hours from dawn to dusk and its glorious. The house martins and swifts are flying overhead and a light breeze is blowing. It is a proper summers evening. The weatrher forcast is for rain overnight but another nice day tomorrow so I will wander into the market in the morning then I had better do some housework before hubby comes home on Sunday. Frank It sounds as though you had a very hectic trip and the photos are great. We are going to LA in September and are not quite sure what to expect. Where did you stay and was it a good experience? Being an outdoors man hubby is a bit sceptical but I am looking forward to the O>T>T> thing. Like yourselves we will only be there for 2 nights and we are going to see a show on the second night ( Cirque de soliel Beatles Show) Fiona Pleased to hear that your daughter and boyfriend are ok :-)

Evening everyone,
Thank goodness no one was badly hurt Fiona , how many people would check a hire car !! when you hire you expect the car to be fit to drive , not have a bald tyre , that's just terrible !! what a shock for you to get a phone call like that .
Thanks for the photo's Frank, you look like you had a great time, and what a treat to have it all paid for you .
Maureen , loved the paddy jokes , been giggling since i read them , have sent them on to son , thanks too for the photo's , what a dear little boy , he's growing up so fast , can also see the decking coming along and your lovely Clematis on the wall.
Jane, your friends cottage looks lovely with the roses , it's the sort you see on the chocolate boxes or jigsaw puzzles !! I think i would worry about having a fire if i lived in a thatched place , bet the insurance is high for a cottage like that .
Been a funny old day , black clouds one minute then bright sun shine , much cooler though .
There was a wedding this morning at the church, i can see them from my kitchen window , the bells were tolling for a funeral !! then all of a sudden i saw the vicar running to the bell tower and the bells stopped and started ringing for the wedding !!! i thought it was funny everyone was dressed in bright colours and fancy hats for a funeral LOL
Anne, i do hope your headache eases for you, have you any photo's of your new garden ?
Any one doing any thing exciting this bank holiday weekend ??

Just read about your daught0er, Fiona. Glad they are allright. The car hire company should be responsible for the condition of the car before they rent it out !!!! Have a word with the POLICE/SOLICITOR. Then sue the Bast### Those children could have been killed.
