Mandy, your little Katie sounds just like my independent Sofia, not 2 years old yet , but wants to do every thing her way. like Katie Sofia wants to feed herself , great when it is ok to pick up veg that can be cut into small chunks , we are running out of different veg that she likes and can pick up herself, we tend to rely on her old favourite PEAS.
she loves all fruit which is great for eating with the fingers,

I'm off to watch Long Lost Families will be back later.

I hate storms like your DIL too Mandy. When I was about 6 a thunderbolt dropped on the hedge over the road and left a big hole in it. I remember being quite frightened looking at it. Then as a teenager a local sub station was struck by lightning and it burnt our house wiring out. I remember the black scorch marks around the fuse and meter boxes under the stairs. The only place I feel relaxed in a storm is in the car with those nice rubber tyres under me.

The meeting at the council was very good and there was 100% vote to refuse the application to build on the field. Objections from several Departments. Hooray!! It is not just green wedge it is one step up, protected green wedge. Interesting with it being 1 field away from the Fosse Way, it said the applicant failed to demonstrate there wouldn't be unacceptable loss of buried archaeological remains !! I want a metal detector for my birthday now. lol Back to Plan A with the garden again now.

We talk about 'faffing about', but mum would have said something else................. 'fannying about'!!!! lol Does it ring any bells SHIRL???? lol :-)

Evening everyone,
We've had heavy showers here all day , lovely not to have to water for a change .
Had DIL and the little ones here today , we've been shopping and they stayed for tea .

Jane, thanks for the photo ,what a dear little boy he is , and wide awake too, he looks like he as some dark hair peeping from under his little hat .

Kim, well done to Joel for passing his test , i bet he was chuffed !! ( that means pleased )
Had a giggle over the thought of your dad upsetting the turkeys !! LOL

Fiona, we have a bit of a squeeze with the high chair too , they seem to take up a lot of room with the legs of the chair !! DIL likes to have the chair next to her so she can help Katie to eat , although Katie likes to feed herself now , but she will not use the spoon , she picks the food up with her fingers !!! her little faced gets covered !!!

Frank, i hope the new tablets will help Ros's pain , not nice to see some one you love crying with pain like that .

Shirl, not more rain for you !!! and thunder too , we were supposed to have thunder today , but so far i haven't heard any , DIL hates storms , i love to look out the window at the lightening .

DIL's sisters little girl broke her arm yesterday in two places !! she's only six !! she had to have an op today to pin the bones , and because she had a loose tooth they had to take it out because of the op !! poor little mite !!

Time for a coffee , i always feel whacked after the little ones have been , they certainly keep you on your toes .

Oh, What have they been upto Showing Page No 556. but with page 1 of the "NEW" thread. Couldn't get on site. Reported it to GENES so they must have got it back on track.

No Jane, Beddows was my mate that passed away. I dealt with him in the 60s with Finance, for his cars when he first started. Were pals with
l the family ever since. I have been to the Chinese in Market street. Is that the same one ???? We have a Chinese in town that we go to with Lewis Eat as much as you like for about £7.00 and £4.00 for Lewis. but that will stop soon, as he is starting to fill out and grow. He's a small 12 year old, bit fit as the Butchers DOG.

Mel, It is surprising how many people you bump into in the supermarket, We sometimes see people who we haven't seen for years. Especially my old Customers, that I sold cars to.

We have had RAIN, all day. sometimes just bouncing of the Road and Patio. Realy given the garden a good drink. You can almost see the colour change in the lawn.

Rain in Canada to, I see. Have you got your water wings on Shirl???? You can't help being senile, You silly old Bugg##

Kim, I can just hear yuou now, you have a new word. It will go round your friends very quickly and soon spread all over AUSTRALIA. You can then take the credit for a new word in that Country. !!!! Hope you enjoy the LEEK PIE.

I did a roast chicken, Roast pots, parsnips, cauli (with cheese sauce) runner beans and carrots with a nice onion gravy. for dinner tonight. All cleared away and dish washer on.

Ros is a little bit more comfortable this evening. Thank you all for your concern it is nice to know you care !!!!

:D :D :D

Been out shopping after all. I had only got up to the meat counter in the first isle and was tapped on the shoulder. It was aunty Joy, mums sister and I had been wondering if I would see her as I know she shops there on a Thursday. Anyway offered to take her home as she dos'nt drive and usually gets a taxi. Well we talked for about 20 mins as she did'nt seem to want to stop gassing. Then did my shopping and when I got to the checkouts Joy was on the end one so did'nt have to wait long. My Q took ages as there was a man on the till and he did'nt help pack the bags like the girls do. anyway while I was packing Joy came over and said look whose behind you!! It was her eldest daughter, Janet. So once again a natter.

I still can't get into this site any other way than going to one of your pm's and getting in that way!! I see you have been having trouble with the site from your messages to me.

Yes Ann it was the Chinese !It was quite busy there partly because of the nice food ,but probably more to do with the all you can eat for (it's either £6.95 or £7.95)
Frank I had one glass of wine and one glass of water. No a drop was spilled lol
The restaurant is on the Horse Market opposite Beddows.(Isn't that where you used to work )?
Guess what.I'm not hungry lol.For Chris and Hannah it is Baked potatoes with a mixture of bacon, asparagus, peas and creme fraiche.I have added a few diced mushrooms too.I may just have a teeny weeny bit.

Frank thanks so much for that recipe. I will print it up for Keith and he can make it one night for us.

Faffing - never heard that word, but I'll start using it over here. That will get them all thinking, lol. "Stop faffing around and get dressed", I can say that to my daughter now, takes her ages to choose what she's going to wear :D

Good night all, off to watch a late movie - 11.40 pm EST

Afternoon Everyone,

Well it's not just me then that doesn't always want to go out and has to go to bed early!!! lol

Lovely pic of the baby Jane. He does look like a little boy!

I had another restless night, but feel a lot better today Kim. I think it must be hay fever. I'm still taking the tablets for that anyway. I feel a bit tired today.....that is probably the tablets!!!! lol That lady sounds as if she was good fun to be around. What a shame she died.

I hope it's a good sign that Ros is feeling a bit better on the new tablets Frank. It must be awful to feel so helpless and it's your nearest and dearest. We are all keeping our fingers crossed for her. XXXX

We are off to the Council Chambers this afternoon to the meeting about the planning application for the field near us. We know they have been recommended to refuse it. It will be interesting to see what the grounds for refusing it will be.

Well done on getting the decorating done Liz. It feels nice when your rooms are freshened up. I hope Ian is progressing well now and getting out and about with Merlin.

Fiona I would love a day on my own to get on with things now!! You will have to keep things out of Sofia's reach on the table!! lol Little hands will be reaching for everything.

I bet Jane's catching up on the Chinese she missed. lol It has poured with rain a few times this morning........doing the garden a world of good.

Hi Everyone, Yes we have finished decorating, thank goodness! not only that but my washing machine gave up the ghost on Sunday, bearings have gone in the drum?!! anyhow it was making a HORRIBLE noise, SO, Monday morning, off to Currys and came home with cheapest we could find, £199!! so at least we can be clean!! Yesterday the Fridge/Freezer also started making a HORRIBLE noise! Oh No! not again! but luckily Ian was able to fix it, the motor needed some attention! Anyhow with both machines, where they had been standing was absolutely FILTHY, so I spent a happy(?) time cleaning, I wondered what the smell was, now it seems to have gone!!!! no not really, I jest! 'Faffing' Kim means that somebody is being indecisive about a query, procrastinating, not saying one way or the other. Ian just come of the phone from EDF, had to wait 25 mins to get through! they sent a leaflet round putting up our direct debit each month nearly 100%!! apparently it's now been upt by £10, so that's a bit better!! Do hope Ros is feeling better Frank, nothing worse than being in severe pain. Thanks everyone for all the pictures, and the photo Jane. Hope everyone is OK.

Hi Jane, yes Red provisionals 1 year and Green for 2. This is very different to when I got my licence and only Ps for one year. Joel's a very sensible lad behind the wheel, so I feel very lucky. Enjoy lunch today

Fiona, I'm good thanks - I have these precious memories. To be honest, I wouldn't have coped too well at the funeral, so it turned out just as it should have. Lovely lady though, always a twinkle in her eyes. She was very cheeky and my father was always laughing with her in some corner sharing a private joke together. So good when the little ones want to sit at the table!! I was so glad to pack away the high chair when my two were done.

Can anyone tell me about faffing????? :D

Frank

Frank Report 26 May 2011 11:52

Morning all,

pooter playing up again this morning. or it might be me. !!!!

Ros has started her new tablets this morning. She says it feels a little easier !!!! fingers crossed . The perscription says one in the morning and one at night. I have told her to ring doctor to see if she could take more if needed. Anything to get the poor woman out of pain, It's not nice seeing your wife crying in pain. and there's nothing you can do to help.

Mel, That's how I get. Ros is always saying come out with me to Tesc# or B & # I just say "I'm allright here", I can do some jobs, or read my book.

We have had a drop of rain, and the clouds are very low at the moment. COULD IT BE WE ARE GOING TO GET SOME RAIN.

I have just finished my BRUNCH. Eggs bacon, black pudding, and fried mash potato's over from last night. Two slices of B & B. two cups of tea. I will be as fat as a pig if I carry on like this !!!!

Out and about again Jane, !! Don't get to much of that white wine down you. !!!! I mean spill it !!!

A very quick good morning from me.Have been getting a few things done before going out for lunch
Well done to Joel.Kim am I right in assuming he has to have a provisional licence for 2 years before a full drivers.

Oh my goodness ,I just looked out the window and it is raining !!!!.Poor you Fiona ,you have had endless rain .I'm sure you live in a lovely place ,but I'm glad I don't live there lolol
Must be off now .Back this afternoon

Fiona

Fiona Report 26 May 2011 10:25

Morning Kim
Must have been a difficult day for you yesterday with your memories and thoughts of all the people at the funeral.

Jane i got the photo of Ethan, looks so cute with his lopsided hat, and nice to see him wide awake.

Wet and windy here again, I've almost forgot what the sun looks like. lol ;-)
no one visiting today so I have a day to myself to get on with housework,

Must remember to put Sofia's high chair upstairs so OH can put it in the attic, she now wants to sit at the table on a big chair with cushions, so that's good as long as she SITS STILL , it was becoming hard work having to squeeze round the legs of the high chair , I only have a small dinning room and when the table is extended full out to sit 6 people plus high chair it's a tight squeeze.

Well I'm of to get dressed and I think it's coffee time

Joel passed test for his green Ps today and sits on those for two years before he progresses to a full licence (yes!!!!).

Thanx for those condolences - the funeral was held yesterday, but I don't think I could have got there; a bit of planning required for a 2 hour trip to Sydney. I did get a nice email from her son and I was able to record my memories online as part of the tribute to her life. Jane she lived at Randwick just near the racecourse, so nearly two hours from here.

Jane thank you for the photo - a beautiful little boy. Annx how are you feeling today? Get better quickly.

Just a childhood memory before I lose all this again! I remember going to the Royal Easter Show with my family when I was about 18 months or so. Dad was carrying me through the turkey pavilion and starting making the gobbling sound. They all started up and the noise was unbelievable. A policeman at the exit was bending over covering his ears. He "escorted" us out and threatened to arrest my father for disturbing the peace if he saw him in there again. Next was the cattle pavilion - you can imagine what happened in there!!! :D

I do have memories of your wonderful champion "Red Rum" and a few photos of him at the Wincanton Races.

Time for dinner, BBL

Morning All on this horrid windy and wet day. Not raining at the mo but it has been as the ground is wet.

Fiona been thinking of you and hubby with this ash cloud as I know he is away a lot. You would think the rain would lay the ash wouls'nt you?

We have'nt heard from our Liz for a few days, do you think they are still decorating?

Frank how is Ros's back today? Give her my love please.

Is'nt it nice when we get a photo of a new life. Little Ethan is great and I think he is like his mum. xx

Should really go shopping today but I keep putting it off. I seem to just want to be at home at the moment and not go anywhere.

OH went ringing last night and I watched the Chelsea Flower Show on the telly. I do wish they would show more of the flowers and gardens than the presenters faces. I thought Carol looked very nice in her dress and bolero. I bet they have all had a time of it this year with everything being early.
