Sorry, didn't come on earlier as I have been busy today. I had a really bad night and got up about 8 am feeling really grotty but after a couple of hours I had a burst of energy and got going with some housework. I washed a load of towels and bathmats and then gave the main bathroom and one of the en-suites a really thorough clean. That took me till lunchtime. After lunch I did all sorts of odd jobs that needed doing, made some phone calls and prepared and cooked our evening meal.
I've just spent a little while on the computer tidying up some files and downloading 3 books to my kindle. At least I should have downloaded 3 but only 2 have appeared. This happened once before and the missing book appeared on my kindle after a few hours so I'll leave it till the morning before I contact Amazon to say I haven't got it.
Something else we did today was to sort out what we are doing for our Diamond Anniversary - at last. I'll tell you about that another time. (Don't get too excited - it's nothing exotic or adventurous.)
I'm going to be busy tomorrow as well as I want to do a bit more cleaning, then I need to shop for fresh veg and milk. After that I'll need to get a trifle and a fruit salad made for Saturday.
It sounds as though you had a good day out AnnG.and your talk yesterday at the U3A sounded interesting. I think I would have enjoyed that.
I'm feeling very tired now so I will say goodnight, sleep tight.

Yes it is where are they all? Such a shame it used to buzz on here. Never mind we will keep it going even if it does make it look like Billy no mates.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time Anng out with your friends and enjoyed a nice lunch too.
I am boiling myself an oyster joint from Mole Valley. I like those and there will be enough for sandwiches when BIL comes over.

Just got home. The Picton garden snowdrops were lovely, so many of them and all named in their groups. Apparently they have 300 different. Amazing to see some really tiny ones (Incidentally to buy just one plant of those was £80). And also some really large. Lots of other spring flowers as well, lovely crocus, a few iris, some primroses, lots of cyclamen all colours and two or three Witch Hazel trees in flower. I am so pleased I went. they let us in to the gardens for £4 each instead of £5. then the four of us in Jane's car went to the same cafe for lunch as we went in September after seeing the Michaelmas Daisies, Just toasties for me Ham and cheese but plenty of filling, the ham proper cooked ham and nice cheese, plus a side salad and coleslaw. and sat there for ages afterwards just chatting

Morning Anng and all,
Its 11 degrees here this morning but cloudy and I think we may have had a little fine rain in the night. Not been out yet. Had a ittle lie in this morning as I have been getting up early for the roofers etc.
Zilch planned for today but I did start on the front yesterday late so I may do a bit more of that. It did'nt get done in the or before the winter as usual. I dumpped one wheelbarrow load last night. It looks a right state out there with all the dead alchemila mollis and moss that has covered e verything over the wet wet wet winter.

Good morning all 8 degrees here so thankfully no frost or icy roads. Off out later to visit the garden nursery with hopefully snowdrops. hoping it doesn't rain which will be annoying after the lovely spring days we have had. Slept well for 6 hours then dozed for an hour.

Mandy yes I got your card before my birthday. I never open them until the day cos I'm a good girl.
I had the roofer here all morning. I popped up to the post van to post a letter sized padded envelope and theres a divertion round the long way to the village. When I eventually got there there was no post van to be seen so I expect he was not there cos of the road works and them closing the main road off.
When I got back the roofer was here and he then did the bit of cementing on the east side and thne fiddled around with the west corner and told me all the somethings were rotton about a foot into the roof. I shall have to get Alan BIL to take a look when he comes down in the summer. He also said I had a cracked tile on the end and he replaced that. Personally I think he cracked it when he tried to get it off as the break looked very clean to me. Anyway he was here till lunch time and it had just started to rain so he told me to keep an eye on the cementing and if it comes out to ring him and he will come and do it again. Just as he was finishing up it really rained and as soon as he had gone it stopped!
I have done a little gardening this afternoon late getting the mollis up out the front. I noticed too that the bungalow paintwork is going green with all the wet weather we have had so I shall have to get the pressure washer on it to clean it off.
Gill your card arrived today thank you.
I am going to make myself a drink now as I am parched.

Just can’t guess what the post is going to do Mandy can we.
Vera it was a very good talk, an excellent speaker. He went right back to the lives of the real Cassidy and Sundance. First showed a clip from the film, then real photos of the men and the rest of the real gang. Butch Cassidy was clever no doubt about that but a rogue as well of course, a born leader too. However even when he decided to give up thieving and robbery and go straight, because of his reputation he and the Gand were blamed for robberies all over America and South America. We were left to decide ourselves what we thought they were. They were of course villains in real life but maybe heroes in the film. T would have enjoyed that talk he loved the film.

Has your roofer finished now Mel? Did it withstand the rain?
Your U3A meeting sounds interesting AnnG. What conclusion did people come to? Are they heroes or villains?
Our post came at lunchtime today and there was something like a card there. As I was expecting someone to send me a programme of meetings from one of the clubs and that is usually printed on card I assumed that was what it was and opened it. It was a birthday card from Mandy, so thank you very much. I’ve put it back in the envelope and will reopen it on the right day. It was only postmarked yesterday so it couldn’t have got here any quicker.
Gwyn, your neighbour’s daughter is lucky to get her garden bin collection free. I’ve just paid our bill for the coming year and it is £57.
I did some little jobs this morning and did some ironing and this afternoon I sorted the plants overwintering in the conservatory. Some got a bit of water, some got tidied up and some got dumped. Mostly they were cuttings that hadn’t rooted and a couple of very tender perennials that are normally treated as annuals. We had brought them in to see if they would survive but they didn’t. That left me with more pots to wash but it looks tidier in there now.

Went up the post van but it was'nt there, blast....
Came back home and the roofer was here but I had left a message on the door that I would'nt be long. He has ow cemented the east side of the tiles and has fitted a new bit of board on the west side and said I had a broken tile there so replaced that and cemented it all up.
It is now raining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Morning all
Grey, foggy and 4 degrees at the moment but it is supposed to be sunny and warm later on. I didn’t sleep well last night and was up early but I am still not dressed or had breakfast. All I have done so far is respond to an email that required a carefully thought out and tactful reply so it took me a while.
I’ve no plans for the day. I think I am suffering from a touch of lazyitis and need a kick in the rear to get me moving.

Lots going on in your day then Mel. Hopefully the roof is now watertight,
Good morning all, grey and a bit misty and 4 degrees out there supposed to be sunny later again. Monthly U3a meeting this afternoon. The talk is Butch and Sundance heroes or villains? Mmm I don't know either so we shall see what that is all about.
Up early tomorrow as a visit to the nursery where we saw the Michelmas Daisies, this time for snowdrops. But I think rain may be forecast.

I would report it Mel, these scammers are terrible aren't they. Pleased to see you didn't fall for it and hand over any money.
Is your roof all done now or is it going to take a bit longer?
What lovely presents, I like the sound of the two little light up birds for the garden and running off batteries instead of the sun is better, they'll look good even in the winter when there isn't much sun around.
You'll sleep tonight with having such a busy day.

Here I am and Iv'e had a busy day what with the roofers and hazel came down with a little pressy and a card. The postman came with a parcel with a card on it from my SIL and it was two little light up birds which you can have standing or put them on a spike thing for the garden. Heather said she has some too and sent me a pic of hers on the table. They are run by batteries so no need for sunshine to charge them up. They came with three batteries each.
I made two trifles today, one for me a small one and one for Em bigger. She called round once the roofers had gone and brought me a card and a present of a hedgehog and a lemon drizzle cake. She went off with her trifle.
Hazel bought me Lindor mint things in milk choc and I tries one and they are very nice. The roofer came and asked if I had any sand to do the cementing at the side of the tiles and Hazel left then and I did'nt give her the beer for her hubby and son which they should have had at Christmas so there are 4 bopttles of beer siting in the kitchen. She laos brought me down a card that was addressed to Mel c/o The Granary which is now Hazel and Jonathon's. It was just a thank you for me going up and talking to Les sometimes and having a chat with him at the library. So all in all a busy day.
Now I have just had an email come up in spam saying my car is not taxed as there was'nt enough money on my credit/ debit card and they had sent reminders and pay now. Now I have a new card but thought it a bit suspicious so did a check and it says I am taxed till May 2023 so it must be a scam. It looks official though so I think I will report it.

Happy Birthday Mel :-D <3 I hope you've had a good day.
I hope the roofers have made your home leak-proof, so you will be cosy and warmer It will be great to get that sorted at last.
It started off really murky and the fog made everything feel chilled, but by 1 o'clock, the sun had come out and it was a very pleasant day. The grass is really long, but the ground is still rather wet and being north facing it doesn't dry or warm at this time of the year. Soon though, I hope to put the garden bin to good use. My neighbour has just told me that the charge has gone up for this coming financial year and will now be £53 something :-0 Her daughter, who lives in another area of Kent does not have a charge for her garden bin :-|

13 degrees here now Vera but I am indoors. I think I have lost my penstemons as well and the two large Salvias are looking q bit dead. I bought several sedums for pots. The tops were frosted but I am hoping new plants are coming through from underneath I can see some green in a couple of them.
