Hope all goes well tomorrow Vera and that your migraine completely clears.

We will keep thinking positive thoughts Gill for you and fingers crossed all will be ok.

SuffolkVera Report 8 Feb 2023 20:30

Oh dear Gill, you are going through a stressful time at the moment. It sounds as though you are getting Sandra sorted out. I hope the Council have her marked up in some way as a vulnerable adult. Does she have a social worker she trusts that she would show “official” letters to? I hope your cancer test results are good and I will keep everything crossed for you. I know how hard it is not to worry yourself silly (I’ve been there twice myself) but try not to let your imagination run away with you. Sending you a little hug <3

Thank you for the photos AnnG. It was good to see the cathedral as I don’t think I have ever been to Gloucester. I had seen the Knife Angel on TV but I imagine it must be breathtaking close up and I would like to see it, so i did a bit of googling and it is going to be in Ipswich in August. We’ll be trying to get along to see it there.

I didn’t post yesterday or earlier today as I’ve also had a bad migraine which started Monday evening and is only just clearing. My brain is still full of fog and I keep doing stupid things. I managed to lose a sock between the hall and the landing and I haven’t found it yet. Then, instead of putting my hairdryer away in a cupboard in the bedroom I tried to put it in the little medicine cupboard in the kitchen and wondered why it wouldn’t fit in. Doh!

OH had a letter today from Boots opticians saying he was due for an eye test so he rang the number given which seemed to be a central appointment office. They said the first available appointment at our branch was 6th March. As he was in town anyway this afternoon he popped in to the optician’s to see if there would be any. chance of an earlier appointment. There were appointments available and he is going on Sunday morning. Talk about the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.

Speaking of eyes I have to have another injection tomorrow morning so I might not be using the computer for a couple of days. I hope this might be the last one but I won’t know until I see the consultant in March sometime.

I’ve been looking at the screen for long enough now. I don’t want to start this migraine off again so I’m signing off. Sleep well everyone

Thanks AnnG, I know I shouldn't worry about the results but OH had the same test last year and it came back positive, he had to have a procedure in hospital and I'm worried the same will happen to me. OH is okay now, so that's good, but it doesn't stop me worrying. That's why I've kept myself busy lately with all the DIY jobs around the place, to help take my mind of it and I thought I was okay until two days ago when I started feeling anxious.

Yes Sandra mentioned she was special needs but they didn't seem bothered. All they're interested in is getting the money she owes them. I think that sort of behaviour is very disappointing, I thought people were suppose to help.

Gill we are all here for you. That is enough to cause anyone stress. Maybe you could get Sandra to let you see any official letters she gets so you can explain them. Has anyone explained her problems of not being able to read and write properly to the council. It may be they could send somebody to see her instead of writing or phoning.

Hope all is well with the cancer test results. Try not to stress until there is something to stress about. :-)

Hi all

Love the photo's AnnG, the knife Angel looks amazing.

Thanks Mandy for your advice about levelling the garden, I'll mention it to OH when he comes home from work tomorrow. The garden is very uneven though so how confident he'll feel driving a digger I don't know, but he might know someone who can help or maybe the hire company may have someone who can drive it for him.

Feeling a bit under the weather at the moment I've had a migraine for the past two days, probably stress as I have a few things on my mind. Needless to say the hall isn't quite finished as I couldn't take the noise of the drill and other noisy machines. My head started feeling a little better this afternoon so we may have the hall floor finished tomorrow as OH is off work tomorrow night so will have more time after he wakes up in the afternoon.

Sandra has got herself in a bit of a pickle with her Council Tax and she's had a court letter so I've been helping her with that the last few days Sandra made a call today to the Council and has been told they can set up a payment plan when she's paid next week. Luckily it's three days before they send the bailiffs round.

She can't read or write properly so when she received the first letter about her arrears last August she ignored it which is why it's ended up going to court. She's been told that she doesn't have to attend court now she's been in contact with them, but she's not very good at understanding people so I'm not sure if she's got it right. The payment plan should be set up before her court date so no doubt it'll all be sorted just in time.

I'm waiting for the results of a Cancer test I had done on the 29th January which is due within the next week, so that's not helped my stress levels either. I suffer from anxiety so my anxiety levels are sky high at the moment. Hopefully I'll be okay when I get the Cancer results and I know Sandra's okay.

Sorry for venting I hope you all don't mind.

Thank you for sharing the photos, Ann.
The cathedral stone looks lovely in the winter sunshine.

What powerful images have been created using such potentially lethal knives.
Really striking, I'd like to see that in real life, although I have always hated knives.

keep going then I shall know what to expect. maybe lay some foil on the tray if you actually want to cook them to eat.

Island

Island Report 8 Feb 2023 17:53

another 'discovery' - those little skinny bits in bags of frozen chips drop through the holes in the tray so can't retrieve to soak until draw is cool. Not that I want to eat them.
Oh the luxury of trivial 'problems' :-(

Lol glad it is fixed anyway. Can’t remember if I pressed that or not. I will be paranoid next time I use it.

Ann, I'm doing a few oven chips - this 'learning curve' is not good for the waistline :-0
It seems I wasn't pressing the on/off button after selecting function/temp/time - logical? why would I think to do that? I'm still not sure whether I press on/off after selecting all three or after each selection. Lost in translation? :-S

Island that is a puzzle. I am struggling to think what you could have pressed to cause it to flash constantly. Is it refusing to do anything else when it is flashing? i.e. is it showing temperature/timing or is the flashing blocking that?

Good afternoon all, sorry I missed posting this morning I was out of the house at 0955 to catch the bus to town. I didn't need to go for anything special but I wanted to see the knife angel at Gloucester cathedral. The bus was packed, a lot of young men on it in groups I assume heading for the same lace as me.

Anyway I went straight there and it was busy but not too crowded so I was able to take photos. It is a fantastic piece of sculpture almost completely made with knives, But despite the beauty of the sculpture it is frightening and horrific in what it represents.

Morning Mel, Gwyn and all

Cold and frosty with icy pavement here. No need to go out so it's an indoor day for me. Bit of crafting I think :-D

Ann, I switched off to start again, it still just flashed. Strange how it worked for the first three times - fluke? I've scanned the booklet so that I can read it more easily. Google has an unhelpful habit of not giving answers appropriate to the questions sometimes :-|

A really bright morning here, no fog, but we did have a light overnight frost, which is disappearing fast in the sunshine.
A quiet day at home today trying to find more room in the kitchen.....

Son dropped off his blood pressure cuff yesterday, so that I can do daily readings and take them back to the nurse practitioner to review the week after next.
When the nurse took the reading on Monday, she at first said it was fine, then decided it was a little high hence the home readings. I am used to slight discomfort, when they take it with their automatic machines, these days, but she really hurt.
I now have to do 6 readings a day :-0, ...3 first thing in the morning, then 3 in the evening and record the lowest reading each time.
The downside is that I know each one is going to be uncomfortable, the plus is that I know the intense feeling is soon gone. It feels sort of bruised inside the arm since the nurse's reading, if that makes sense.
Hopefully the home readings will show that I can keep to the medication I already take.
We shall see.

Morning all,

Been up since 7.45am and turned on pc only to find I had a bid on an item I sold last week and it has been posted. I had to wait for a call from a man who helped me and talked me through some other points on how to rectify this if it happens again.

Sunny here after a very hard frost and it 0 degrees. The suns having a job burning of the frost this morning and my pond was a bit frozen so it must have been a hard one.

I am now going out to defrost the chickens water and feed them and the wild birds.

AnninGlos Report 7 Feb 2023 20:34

Island is it still flashing? Have you tried switching it off and on again at the plug. Or if it is still flashing is that both drawers? Have you tried holding the buttons 1 and2 or whichever one is flashing for two or three seconds. Normally it flashes for you to change something
Presumably for crispy veg the fries function would be best so touch that icon and see if that works. What veg were you trying to crisp? You could try shaking the veg in a bowl in a very small amount of oil.

My poly bag over the cooker was'nt done up so when I lifted it it only lifted one side but it was enough to get my hand under it to lift it out.

Shan't be using mine yet but my friend says he does smashing chips in his much better than oven chips.

Iv'e had Andrew and Terrie down here as its their dads funeral tomorrow and I am not going. Les lived in the cottage where I drive into my place. I always had a good chat to him when he went to the library in the village hall car park and popped in to see him now and then. His son told me he had a leccy bill for £1300 as he could'nt get down to get the logs and coal out of the store anymore. If I had known Jonathon next to him would have done it for him.
