Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Jan 2023 11:19

Morning Anng and all,

I lay in this morning too as it was so cold. We had a hard frost over night and there were fern patterns on my car this morning which have only just melted.

Pc says partly sunny and 4 degrees which it is at the moment. weather for today says snow at about 5pm so we will see.

Good morning everyone, hard frost out there but only -1 again so not as cold as it has been. Slept well last night, finally woke 0715 but laid there until 0800 as it was chilly out of bed. nothing planned for today but lots of odd little jobs to do. I have an ongoing list,

They are a type of jeans but not denim, sort of mi weight heavy cotton type. I can wear them if not going to be walking out in them. M&S did have some thick weight trousers with elastic waist but didn’t have my size.

Done some varnishing this morning and a bit of painting. The suns been out most of the day and its 6 degrees here at present but it feels much colder out.

I filled up a different bird feeder, a red one, with fat sticks but I have not seen a bird on it yet. O I tell a lie just looked over my shoulder and the Woodpecker is on it! I see they need a new fat tablet out there so I will do that when I corn the chickens.

A new pair of trousers Anng. Are they cotton ones for later in the year or warm ones for now? Its good the temp went up so it was'nt slippy for you to walk to the shops.

AnninGlos Report 18 Jan 2023 14:44

Although it was frosty earlier, because the road and paths were dry and the temp went up to 1 degree it was not slippery when I went into town. I got in there at 1020 and had a coffee and then a quick look round before my appointment. Then afterwards went back to the shops, bought a pair of cargo trousers which I knew would fit as I had some before. Tried on some cords but they wouldn't do up. The cargoes have full elastic across the back which helps. OK they are not smart as it is a relaxed style but I have smart trousers I more often wear casual. I got home at 1.15 but I have backache now from carrying shopping. It didn't bother me when I was out.

Vera it looks as though you are feeling brighter for having the friends visit yesterday so that is good.

SuffolkVera Report 18 Jan 2023 12:48

Good afternoon all

It was a very cold night and everything was covered with a thick frost earlier, but it’s 3 degrees and sunny now. OH has just put the dustbin away and said it feels a darn sight colder than 3 degrees outside.

There was an ambulance outside my neighbour’s at 4 am so I hope it’s not too serious. One or other of them regularly ends up in hospital as they have a number of health problems between them. I’ve sent the wife a text to offer any help needed but haven’t heard back yet.

I hope you are feeling a lot better today William. Stay in the warm and get as much rest as you can.

My back is still giving me a lot of trouble but we had friends call unexpectedly yesterday afternoon and that cheered me up and gave me something else to think about for a couple of hours.

OH has just got some lunch, salad and pate for him but I’m just having a slice of toast and we’re sitting here watching a little flock of long tailed tits on the feeders. I expect they’ll be gone in a minute and then we don’t see them again for weeks.

Morning all,

Still all white out there this morning and pc says heavy sleet soon and 5 degrees.

Glad the shopping came yesterday and I found out there was no milk and went up the shop for some as I don't think the old car would get up the road out of the Gardens today.

Nothing planned so I may do a bit of ironing and some minitures.

Good morning all. -1 here this morning so not as cold as yesterday. Can't see if there is a frost as it is very dark still. I have a chiropodist appointment so hope it is not icy out.

I had an awful night again, didn't get much sleep. Coughing and tummy upset. Saw every hour on the clock. Then due to sitting on the loo for too long I got freezing cold, even though we had the heater on in the hall by the bottom of the stirs. I wrapped myself up in my furry dressing gown after Carmel had rubbed my chest and back with Vick. I got back in the bed with my warm dressing gown on and it still took me half an hour to stop shivering.
A little better during the day but still tired and jelly legged. However I wasn't interested in food and just had a few plain biscuits and one slice of toast for breakfast. Here's hoping I'll feel a bit better in the morning. It's not something we ate because Carmel has been Okay.
It's freezing out as I shut everything down for the night and outside the cars are all covered with frost. So pleased I don't have to go out in the morning. However, our gardener is coming so I don't know what he will be able to do although he will do anything.

Shopping has been and is all put away so now I am going to do myself some lunch.

Morning All,

I went to bed earlier for me last night as I kept dropping off watching the telly and woke at 8.50am when I came out and went to turn the pc on and it would go on. Made myoffee and sat down at it again thinking it had died on me and pressed the button and on it came thank goodness. I would be lost without this machine now.

Shopping arrives today and he's 10 stops away. The temp is 0 degrees and there was a hard frost early last night about 8pm. The pc al;so says snow ice advisory. I don't think it rained inthe night and the road looks pretty dry and yesterday was a lovely dry day so why has'nt the roofer been in touch?

Sorry you did'nt sleep well last night and kept waking up. I woke once for the loo and then off to sleep again afterwards. Did have a strange dream though but I could'nt tell you what it was about cos I can't remember but know it was odd.

So nice to see Will pop in and I turned the pc off earlier last night and always look to see if anyone has posted.

Good morning all, a frost last night as expected and -5 at the moment so I am pleased I don't have to go out. didn't have a brilliant night, kept waking then not able to get back to sleep, all those swans must have been too much excitement for my brain. finally woke at 0815 so not dressed yet.

William Report 16 Jan 2023 23:18

Just off to bed after a tiring day. We had to go into our town and I wrapped Carmel up in a blanket in her wheelchair after driving the short distance but it was an icy cold wind. We did what we had to do but we were glad to get back home in the warm, make hot drinks and get something to eat.
A few nights ago I wasn't well in the middle of the night and went downstairs, put the tele on to watch recordings and eventually fell asleep in the chair. The following night wasn't much different but instead of going to sleep downstairs, I wrote four of my poems straight off, mostly nostalgic ones. I have one left to illustrate before I post it to Facebook.
If tomorrow is like today, and my computer says it's minus 3 degrees, I shan't be going very far. I don't care what the heating bill is, it will just have to come out of the kids inheritance, we need it more than that do right now. Night night all.

Hi all

Well all the cement boards are down now so that's one room finished and ready for decorating, it took us a bit longer than we thought it would though. We've decided to do all the decorating once all the cement boards have been put down throughout the property as it's a very dusty job. We need to move everything into the empty room now to free up the next room for the cement boards. OH is working for the next three nights so I'll have to see how much I can move on my own for now.

We've not heard from Sandra for a few days, we think she's broken her phone again but with OH working we can't go and check on her until later in the week, so we hope she's okay.

It was a glorious day here so a great day to go to Slimbridge totally blue skies and sunshine. Cold though so we didn’t walk round, we just stayed I. The viewing room by the lake after we had lunch. (Fish and chips). So were there for over two hours until feeding finished at 4.30.
Lots of Bewicks in plus Mute swans geese ducks, many different coots, even a grey heron and I am sure some we didn’t recognise. I intended to join as it is only £3.45 a month but it needed to be direct debit and I didn’t have my bank details to hand. So another time maybe. Worth a visit anyway.

I did'nt bother putting my recycling box out this week either.Ours does come every week so it will be worth putting it out next Monday.

I have done some paperwork and done some casting but not got round to any painting which I had planned to do today. I am just trying some new moulds I have been making and am hoping they come out ok.

Sausages and bubble and squeak tonight with beans.

Its 6 degrees here but feels much colder but at least the winds dropped today but the air is so cold. Barometer dropped a lot too.

Just cut my tomorrows shopping down a bit as it was well over the £40 and now its down to £42 something. I am always surprised how things keep going up and they are still going up.

Oh thank you Anng I'll have to remember that so I get nice thicker plants .
How was your walk out to see the swans ?

Vera hope your feeling better soon ,I see you have a good chef doing the meals .

We had rain this afternoon and it was so cold when I walked the recycling bin out ,it was quite light with not much in it ,we could have left it for another fortnight .
