Good morning everyone.
Sunshine now for us after a very dull start.

It sounds like you had a good day yesterday.
Nice that you got some surprise presents for your birds, Mel.
That is a lovely on-going gift, as you will enjoy looking out for any feathered visitors.
Ann,
Lovely to see the children enjoying their Christmas.
No little ones in our family now, but it was special last term to share the pre-Christmas preparations in school.

We had a good family day, at my son's and will meet up again at my daughter's later, when we will enjoy a cold meat and salad with pickles lunch together.
She is going to cook jacket potatoes to go with that and it's usually quite a leisurely relaxed sort of day..... Lovely.

Morning all,

Dark morning here and its 6 degrees so cold skies cloudy and I am full of cold....

It started yesteday my nose just kept running and my throat is dry and I have a bit of a cough. I am going to ring Hazel and tell her I am not coming today as her son is there and he had a kidney removed about 14 days ago so I don't think its fair to mingle with him.

Going to get nice hot coffee now and have a sit down .

Had a surprise visit from BIL and he brought me 2 boxes 12.5kl of bird fat sticks 100 fat balls and 9 fat blocks. He knows I like to feed my wild birds and he takes pics of them when he is here. He had taken a pic of a Kingfisher whih he showed me on his phone. A little female one.

Cooked my dinner and ate loads. A really nice tender moist chicken with roast tatoes, parsnip, carrots, sprouts and yorky puds all went down nicely with a couple of glasses of rose'.

Had nice presents from Emm and the boys and Em's mum. nice gloves and a big tin of fudge and Em gave me a hedgehog coster a hedgehog pot hanger and a hedgehog tin. So I think I did ok for not expecting anything much.

Well, presents opened then a surprise visit fro Grandson and family. Colds seem to be better so hopefully not infrctiouslthey stayed a couple of hours while opening all their presents from us so it was a bit hectic but lovely to see the children
N. Inara is just the right age of really enjoying all her presents. At the moment she is Pokémon mad so anything related to that went down well. Senua was a bit mummyish as she is still getting over the cold but she was very good and liked her presents.

Oh Vera that will be a house full but plenty of people to help get things done .

The family came and I had a lively couple of games of Scrabble with the children a few odd words at times lol but it was lovely.

Well I have done as much as I can to get forward and that will help but they all muck in and help on the day.

I wish you all a Happy Christmas and hope you all have a good day hopefully i might look in later in the day when they have gone home or I might be asleep lol

Have a wonderful day tomorrow and come back next week and tell us all about it. :-)

SuffolkVera Report 24 Dec 2022 14:07

Not very quiet here AnnG. There are 12 here at the moment. One is leaving later and more arriving, either 3 or 4. We are all mucking in with preparing tonight’s meal and tomorrow’s. I have just prepped a huge pot of potatoes for tomorrow’s roasties and a large pot of carrot batons. Granddaughters are doing other veg. Dil, one of her sons and one of son’s daughters are busy preparing tonight’s Greek meal. It’s all systems go here :-). Luckily it’s a big house, with a big kitchen cum family room. There are 3 ovens with different functions so lots can be cooked at once.

Thankfully son is almost back to normal. He looks a bit tired and is laying off the drink but he had some breakfast today. Goodness knows what it was but no-one else has gone down with it.

Sorry to hear about the tooth problems in your family Mandy. I hope the antibiotics ease things enough for them to enjoy Christmas.

I suspect I won’t be on here tomorrow so I’ll wish you all a very happy Christmas now. Have a wonderful day <3

Oh dear Mandy, not a good time to get toothachevwith all the sweet stuff around. Hope it eases with the antibiotics

We just nipped to M&S to return the cords I bought yesterday and a pullover that daughter bought.new thought it would be crowded but it was quite empty and no queue at all. We were only out about thirty minutes altogether., now we are in, planning the timetable for tomorrow and sitting around reading etc, very quiet and relaxing.

Suns up and I can see blue sky ,yesterday it rained all day and was dark and dreary.

Vera I hope your son is feeling better and the bug hasn't spread to anyone else ,that was a bit of a trek getting there for you ,thats when the sat navs come in handy .

Yes Anng I bet there's lots of excitement with lots of families today and they take ages to go to sleep after getting so hyped up .

Jake has had tooth ache he got an appointment and he's now on antibiotics he has to have the tooth out on the 12th January, then blow me son got tooth ache and is on antibiotics too he has his appointment to have his tooth out on the 5th ,he should have had it taken out before but they cancelled his appointment.

Just got my turkey crowns in I always cook them the day before so it saves the oven a buf for tomorrow.
I'm going to do my roast potatoes too Mary Berry says cook them the day before and just heat them to crisp up on the day .

Better get on son and family are coming after lunch and I've lots to do .

Oh dear Vera
Poor son do hope he soon feels better and that nobody else has caught it from him.. have a great time with the family, and glad you finally got there.

Have to say things not gone exactly to plan here although all fine so far in this house.new we’re going to have the two littlest this afternoon but they have all gone down with colds so are keeping the germs in their house for now.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 23 Dec 2022 15:37

Good afternoon all

Only 6 degrees here and heavy rain. So far things have not been great. The journey started well. Granddaughter’s car is bigger than her old one so with a bit of a squash everything went in. We were getting along well, stopped for fuel but decided not to stop to eat. When we left the fuel station the sat nav took us off the A1 all round the houses and we heard there had been an accident. Eventually we joined the end of a stationery queue to get back on the A1 but nothing moved for ages so granddaughter reset sat nav and turned round and we went a very odd route and rejoined the A1 much further along. It took forever but we eventually arrived.

We had a nice meal and were chatting when son said he felt sick. Within an hour he was being violently ill and was bad all night and first thing this morning. He got up and showered a couple of hours ago but still feels and looks grim so has gone back to bed. Well, things can only get better.

Various people are arriving tonight and tomorrow so there will soon be a full house. Luckily there are six bedrooms, some with extra beds in them. As the oldies, we are being spoilt with the master bedroom.

I’m being asked to join in a word game with 2 granddaughters so will get down on the floor with them. The problem is that I might not be able to get back up again lol.

AnninGlos Report 23 Dec 2022 13:02

Mel you should have bought yourself a present for the day. At least you have some nice food.

Thanks Island. Yes I am sure some people won’t have actually sent cards, equally sure some are sitting in the sorting office. Never mind, it is only a day.

Pain about your water barrel, no rain here thank goodness as we had to park way out of town to collect the Turkey. If it was me I think I would pay to park for the convenience but no one hour free street parking. Did buy a pair of jeans in M&S but they have to go back, couldn’t even think of getting them done up.
