Good that the weather was better to get the wreath done Mel.
You have been busy ...well done :-)

My garden doesn't know which season it is.
I have lots of yellow flowers out on my forsythia :-S
No flowers yet on the bulbs in pots by the front door, but some of the leaves are about 10 inches tall.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 19 Dec 2022 16:38

Vera, All the cards I sent were hand made. I don't remember what the pictures were though but if many's was similar it must be from Annx. I think I often put Ann in glos on mine as well.

Afternoon all

What a difference in ths temp so mild ,Katie came after lunch and we went up to town ,hot in the card factory drop and the lights went off ,all the power was off in the whole precinct so as we had been in the shops the other end of town where the power was on we came home ,Katie went across to the school where her dad was just finishing work and went home with him.

Oh glad you got the card Vera ,I think that card sounds like the one Ann sent me mine had hens on too so mystery solved lol

We were out early to Aldi and we were surprised how quiet it was ,I got most things I wanted just a few odd bits to get nearer the time now.

Vera I can just picture the scene with you trying to get in the car packed to the gills and OH shoving you in by your bottom saying your nearly in your nearly in lol
Enjoy your evening .

I hope you get some post before you go AnnG or you’ll have a long wait. We are not away for very long and will probably come back Boxing Day. Our kids don’t like OH doing really long drives now but it does mean we are tied to when they are available to chauffeur us.

Thank you for your card Mandy. Another that arrived today is from “Ann”. However I know 6 ladies called Ann. I can discount 2 of them but that still leaves 4, so if either of the Anns on here sent me a card with a lovely picture of 3 hens, thank you

Lucky you Vera, still no post here and no sign of a postie. Last day for me to get anything before 5 january!!!

Enjoy your evening meeting Vera, hope the secret Santa present is nice, Some people seem to be very clever at choosing good presents so hope you have one of theirs.

SuffolkVera Report 19 Dec 2022 13:09

13 degrees but heavy cloud and a stiff breeze.

I envy you Mel. I would love a lie-in but seldom sleep beyond 7.30 and OH is the same. Some of our friends say they are sleeping more now they are older but we seem to sleep less, though OH does catnap sometimes.

OH was putting a few lights up outside but has just come in and said it’s raining again.

I like the idea of the portable turkey Gwyn. As AnnG says, maybe you cook the best meat. It reminded me of when I was little and we lived one end of a longish road and my aunt lived the other. Food would be transported between the two for any big family event, as would crockery, cutlery and chairs. Those were the days :-)

I’ve done quite a bit of washing this morning and wrapped one more parcel. Why on earth did I buy big presents and awkward shaped ones? Next year everyone’s getting vouchers lol.

Mr Tesco is coming this afternoon; one sub but just for a different size of the same product, one thing unavailable but I had said I didn’t want a sub if they hadn’t got it in.

This evening we have our Christmas meeting at our Club. Everyone takes nibbles or finger foods and a secret Santa present for up to £5. It’s surprising what you can get for that if you keep your eye on special offers or sales.

HOORAY, POSTIE HAS JUST BEEN. 1st time for 12 days. We have 11 cards and three official looking letters. I know there will be plenty more floating around out there that might get delivered sometime but at least we’ve got something.

I’m going to have lunch and enjoy opening our post now.

Well I did sleep well but must have been tired when I went to bed as when I went downstairs I had left two side lights on all night and, although all locked up I left the keys in the door which I never do.

s I was'nt that late to bed last night. I got up to a nice waarm house

Morning all,

I slept in late this morning and I don't know why becasue I was'nt late to bed last night got up at 10.23am!!!! I got up to a nice warm house as Echo turns the heating on for me in the morning at 8am.

Lost the first bit of my post so the first line is all that was left. pc says 14 degrees! Wow tropical!! but loudy and it really windy out there too.

Think I will have a lazy day and tomorrow get lots done. ell that is the plan anyway. Still have to finish this wreath and at some point get to Barnstaple to drop something off at the bank.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 19 Dec 2022 10:35

I have just done the local card delivery which was a relief as I thought I wouldn't get it done before going away. Very windy out there and bins travelling a bit as they are all still out because of the snow and tonight the second bin is also due to go out.

Sounds complicated with a travelling turkey Gwyn but I am sure you have it all under control. Maybe Mum cooks turkey the best?

Good morning from a wet and windy corner of the country.
It is so mild and such a welcome after the bitterly cold days we've had recently.

I'm pleased for you Ann that the weather has warmed up so there is not the same danger of falling on the snow and ice. Better for a journey too. I hope that you and Vera manage to find room to travel safely surrounded by parcels !

We will meet together as a family on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, but no long car trips involved as we all live within about 8 miles, so it is not too bad.
I can't think when or why it started, but we are going with the usual plan of cooking the turkey here, then transporting it to whoever is hosting dinner, so that will have to have it's own special place in the car.
Actually, thinking back,it may have been done this way, because my son is in Fire and Rescue and is sometimes on call, so perhaps it was to ensure that everyone had dinner that year.!
The team tried to work their shifts so that the men with young families were off on Christmas Day or at least the major part of it and the other staff would pick up the swapped shifts. We have had Christmas dinner around the shift commitments rather than a set time in the past.
This year, it should be a 'normal' dinner time meal.

Today, I am hoping to do a local card delivery, just walking, so I hope the rain eases rather than the 'heavy rain soon' which the computer is telling me about. I'm not sure where the computer thinks I am located today and we have had such a variety of weather in this south east corner recently that I think I will just go with what I see happening out through the window !

Safe journey for all travellers.

AnninGlos Report 19 Dec 2022 07:33

Good morning all, still dark here but it is 11 degrees and I think all the snow in the road has gone, it rained quite a bit yesterday evening. Up early as I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. annoying as I don't have much to do and would have liked to sleep in a bit. It is actually raining now.

Sounds as though you will have lots of room in the car then Vera. Just looking at my lot I hope it all goes in but they will come with very little stuff so hopefully there will be room. I also, of course have all the presents that grandson brought through the snow last Sunday to take up.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Dec 2022 18:55

Been raining here most of the afternoon and it cleared nearly all of the frozen snow away. Both pond are clear of ice now so thats a good thing and the koi have been swimming around so I gave them a little food but they hav'nt eaten it.

I did a bit of wiring for the wreath for a friend but thats about it. I did put a few coats on some things I am moulding and painted one thing and the next one I had painted most of it and broke it!!! It was a plate but I have managed to stick it back together and shall keep it for myself.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 18 Dec 2022 17:56

It's been raining heavily since about 2 pm and there is snow mixed in it; horrible sleety stuff. It appears that it's going to continue right through the night and it's still only 2 degrees. I've been at the computer doing a bit of banking and finalising my Tesco order for tomorrow and my hands are frozen. My numb fingers keep hitting the wrong keys.

I managed in the end to get 2 presents wrapped but I've plenty more to go. I also managed to have a quick word with granddaughter who says her new car has a bit more room than her old one and we should get everything in but, in any case, she will leave some of her bits with her mother (our daughter) to bring up to Yorkshire when she comes on Christmas Eve. She will be on her own so will have plenty of space.

I'm off downstairs now to warm up a bit. I hope you all sleep well tonight.

Well, Mr Tesco got here early and no subs and nothing unavailable :-)

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 18 Dec 2022 10:59

2 degrees here, computer is saying rain/snow but that covers a wide area last weekend it was really only Gloucestershire that got all the snow. Hopefully we will get rain and maybe the temp will go up a bit, forecast was also for high winds, if from the East that will bring the temp down. So who knows? Waiting for Tesco. bin men still won't come into out road wonder if Mr Tesco will?

SuffolkVera Report 18 Dec 2022 10:52

Good morning everyone

0 degrees here. It might get up to 2 degrees this afternoon but the warmer temperatures we’ve been promised aren’t due till late evening and overnight. It’s also supposed to rain on and off from early afternoon till mid-morning tomorrow. Complaining about the weather is a British habit. It is what it is and we’ll have to like it or lump it.

Like you, AnnG, I’m wondering what clothes to take to Yorkshire. Son’s house is usually very warm but step outside the door and it’s brrr. I really must start wrapping presents to take with us. Our dinner’s all prepared so perhaps I had better make a start on the pressies next. Or maybe a cup of coffee first ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Dec 2022 09:43

Morning Anng and all,

0 degrees here this morning and its thawing here think we've had a little rain and pc says rain coming. When I went out last night the fishing float on oh's pond looked like a planet, it was all frosted and had tiny bubbles all round it on the black water.

Weather thing says its 4 degrees out there and 13.3 indoors. I may be able to get these flowers done today if I'm lucky and it dos'nt rain too hard. Need to clean the big girls out too but its a bit windy today and the shavings blow around when its windy and go everywhere.

Pack lots of warm cloths Anng you can never have enough when the weathers like this.
