Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Oct 2022 14:58

Did the pond filter again this morning and managed to knock the leccy out twice so had to come in both times and turn it back on then I had forgotten to take the central pipe out of the filter and the water jumped out of the big filter onto the floor before it was out but once out it carried on ok. Now have a wet floor in the shed!! but at least its done.

Could'nt get the outside pump to work today every time I turned the hose off the pump stopped so I have left that till another day and the ponds quite full anyway with the rain we've had a couple of days ago.

Suns just this min come out as its been really dull and grey all morning with moisture in the air. Phones ringing.

Morning Anng and all,

Very dull here this morning pc says 15 degrees Light rain is expected during the day. The high will be 18° on this breezy day.

So I expect it will be another day of fishing leaves out of the pond.

Hope Vera is feeling a bit better this morning and hubby too and Island has had a better night.

Mandy now hear what I said and not too much knitting at a time take it easy.

AnninGlos Report 27 Oct 2022 07:57

Good morning all from a very dark and wet Gloucester. 13 degrees so still not cold but it certainly doesn't look like gardening weather at the moment. maybe it will change as the forecast last night was dry this morning.
Hope all slept well and that those who are not well are feeling better.
As Mel says Mandy take care with the knitting. A small amount might be good to get your fingers/hands moving again but don't overdo it. I expect the pain will limit how much you can do but a small achievement will help the frustration.

I don't think we have seen Annx for a couple of days, I hope that is because she is engrossed in her new art class and not because she is unwell.

Evening all,

Oh Vera I was teary on Sunday as that would have been my mum's birthday ,it was also two years since Jane died where has that time gone.

Gwyn i bet it was lovely by the sea today especially with it being so mild .

Chris and family came and did a lot of jobs for us the chimney was swept and all the room was cleaned but there wasn't much mess ,the greenhouse was taken down and also the gazebo so we feel we're getting the garden sorted now .
The F&C's were lovely and family cleared away and washed up ,we could have loaded the dish washer but they decided they would wash up by hand so it could all be put away while they were here.

Tomorrow son is taking me shopping first time I've been in a shop for over a month as they have been shopping for us .
I've tried to do a little knitting ,it's very slow but I've managed a few stitches .

At least you have done something useful today Vera and I too wish you better soon. <3

I have been in the garden this morning clearing up the wet soggy grass cutting BIL cleared of the mower and left outside the workshop. I kept treading inthem when opening the door. It looks a lot tidier now round there. Had three eggs today one in the house and two in the nest box.

Was fiddleing with my poly clay and there was an enomous thud on the patio door so I lookeed out and there was a bird of prey lying on its back by a pot of flowers. Got my camera and went out to see if it was dead, it was'nt so I took a pic and then another but at that point it flew off over the back and into the trees. I think it was a Kestral I will send the pic.

Also got on to the leccy on messanger again as they still hav'nt paid me for the solar money that is well overdue. They said it sould be in my bank within 48 hours and about time too. I gave them the reading on 12th Sept so its over a month.

I think any cough zaps your energy Vera so I hope yours soon clears up. Also having no appetite and not eating will not be helping as you need food to give you energy. I am sure it will return to normal soon. The fact that you have no energy and you think you should have is probably what is dragging you down and the time of year, clocks due to go back dark days and evenings is not going to help. Can only wish you a recovery as soon as possible. Meanwhile plenty of fluids and rest. <3 <3

That sounds lovely Gwyn. I could just fancy a stroll by the sea. It's 17 degrees and cloudy here though the sun peeps through from time to time. It's good weather for gardening but I just don't have the energy to do anything. I am still coughing and blowing my nose and am still struggling to eat but am making myself have some food. A friend who had Covid a month ago tells me she is still feeling lethargic.

I hope everyone else who has aches and pains at the moment is feeling a lot better today.

This morning we were both up early (not quite as early as Gwyn ;-)) and between us we got enough stew for 2 days prepared and into the slow cooker. For some reason I was feeling a bit tearful which isn't like me at all, so I gave myself a talking to and made a real effort to get myself together, even putting on some earrings. I then managed to eat some overnight oats with fruit but didn't want any lunch when OH made himself a sandwich.

I've been online this morning and bought my first 2 Christmas presents so I've done something useful today. It also registered with me why I was feeling so down. 26th October was my Mum's birthday. She was taken far too young in 1974 so 48 years ago and I think I miss her more now than ever. I can almost hear her voice saying "Come on Dilly Daydream, buck your ideas up" so buck up I must.

I did a load of washing. Then spent just under an hour in the garden cutting back two large Salvia bushes. Once I could see the gravel their pots are on I pulled up all the ivy that had covered it. I would put down more gravel if I could only get to it in the garage!!! Hopefully we will have a dry day after the weekend.

Anyway I think I shall make some cards now.

Bright sunshine here and so mild that I decided to go and see the sea.

I caught a bus and had a pleasant walk on the promenade watching the high tide waves lapping the lower level.

I ended up carrying my coat, which I had worn incase we had a shower, but the sky is bright blue and the temperature online showing at 20... amazing for the time of year.

Morning Gwyn, anng and all,

If you have rain then we have sunshine and its 15 degrees here but a bit windy.

O dear Gwyn we all get these silly moments when we read the clock wrong. I do it too and swear its the fairies playing tricks.

Enjoy your card making Anng.

Can you please all remind me its LIBRARY tomorrow as I have been for months and have no books to read.

Hope all the poorly among us are feeling better today and sending love to you all. <3 <3

Good morning all. :-D Gwyn, you will be confused for the rest of the day now. Or maybe you have got some extra jobs done in that unplanned time. I would have probably gone back to bed!!

I seem to be in the wake every couple of hours phase now. Not sure why. Although I do seem to go back to sleep after waking.

12 degrees and raining here and quite dark still at 8am. Nothing planned for today so card making probably. I did toy with thoughts of going to town on the bus but I won't if it is raining.

Good morning to everyone

I hope you all managed a restful night and hopefully pain free.

This morning, I woke with a start, glanced at my watch...... nearly 8.30 :-0

I shot into the kitchen to put the kettle on ( hoping it would boil at the cheaper overnight electricity rate) then noticed the time on the microwave clock and...wait a minute, it was still dark :-S
Checking my watch again, the hands were showing that it was now 5.45.
In my befuddled state, I had mixed up the hands.
Couldn't waste the electric, so I had an early cuppa and will now start the day again !

I think I heard that they don’t leave it but come back again later but who knows?

Vera a little progress then a step back. All you can do is not fight the exhaustion. Just give in to it don’t think because your OH is much better you ought to be too. Hope you can sleep tonight. Are you using vick?

Hope you feel better tomorrow Vera and get some sleep tonight.

My delivery came about 2.30pm it was the new driver who came with a chap last week. Poor fellow had been given 20 drops when other drivers had 15. On his first day on his own. It made no difference to me as I was'nt going out but supposing I was???? Would he have left it?

Nice to hear from Mandy.

You’re having a rough time of it Island. Could your doctor prescribe a different painkiller for you? As paras alone do nothing for me I have a strong co-codomol on prescription but, of course, not everyone can take codeine. I hope things improve very quickly for you.

You seem to be managing well Mandy and it's good to hear from you. Take care not to do too much, too soon.

I had a good day yesterday. I got some washing done and managed to eat a bit more. But it’s been a case of two steps forward and one and a half steps back. The cough came back with a vengeance and I got no sleep again and after a night of coughing my back, ribs and stomach muscles all ache and I am exhausted. On the bright side OH is continuing to improve. He still feels a bit cold so is wearing his thickest, fleece lined jumper but otherwise just has a few snuffles and a slight cough. He had the energy to sweep up a few leaves and change my bedding for me this morning

It’s a nice day again, good gardening weather. I feel very frustrated as there is so much to be done and I don’t have the energy or will to do anything. Oh well, tomorrow’s another day :-)

AnninGlos Report 25 Oct 2022 12:49

Oh dear Island, nasty to be woken with the pain, you seem to be doing all you can and I assume you have asked your GP if there is anything else you can do. I just hope it soon eases for you <3

Mandy you are managing well now and hopefully it will continue to improve. Hope you enjoy your F&C lunch and that the chimney is now clean.

Was Annx on here yesterday I don't remember seeing her.

Yes Island did all of about half an hour in the garden. It is very wet but I planted some dutch Iris and some crocus in a pot and also took out all the rest of the tomato plants. I do have some green ones ripening in the conservatory and picked the last of the red ones before pulling up the plants. I have the hairdresser this afternoon. I have also wrapped a few more of the presents that will be going north at the beginning of December with Grandson 2 who is making the trip with the rest of the stuff for Hampshire to be collected by grandson 3.

Good to hear your getting along ok Mandy even if it can be troublesome sometimes I see you are learning to live withit now. Hope your poor face and knee heal quickly. Sending love. <3

Also to poor Island who has had a really bad night. Hope you can work it off during the day and keep up with the para's. Have you tried a hot water bottle on your lower back? I expect you have but just rying to help. Love to you also. <3

Morning all,

Sorry to hear you both have covid Vera hope you both feel better soon .

Nice sunny morning here good for the children on half term

Not much pain now until I do my exercises or if I turn my wrists wrong ,it feels very strange when I take the splints off ,I have some splints I wear in the shower as I feel very vulnerable without them and if I were to slip I could do more damage .
Bruises on my face have almost gone but I still have a swollen brow and it's sore and i still have a scabby knee.

Chris is coming tomorrow to sweep the chimney and I think we're having a F&C lunch so that will be nice ,we have had some ready meals and done lots of easy things for meals so between us we have managed ok.
