A talking to before visiting? :-0
My mother always said she could take her children anywhere. No need for 'a talking to' - I think good behaviour was the norm then.
AnnG, I'm glad you had a good time with your little people. My turn tomorrow! They can be a bit hyper but never cheeky and I'm so looking forward to their hugs :-D :-D

I suppose with being exposed to what they hear with phones, on line/tv etc, children are likely to be less respectful these days. They mix much more than ever we did with nursery, birthday dos etc and must copy other children's behaviour and what they hear too. When I went to a one off daytime photography class at a senior school years ago I just could not believe the din the children were making inside.......even standing on tables as well, no respect for furniture or anything. It does seem that you hit the right spot to keep them entertained then, so they were good. I hope it works next time as well!

I see we have a yellow warning here for weather tomorrow and rain all day forecast so no outside jobs,

AnninGlos Report 22 Oct 2022 21:27

Ann, normally these are two children who never do as they are told so a warning would not have worked. The youngest is the lad who, when staying with daughter, was overheard to say to his mother.’how dare you talk to me like that’.
I think they must just have been happy doing what they were doing. A good day maybe.

AnninGlos Report 22 Oct 2022 20:50

Mel, they must know the cost so don’t let them take advantage. They probably think you are desperate to get rid of it and are thinking you are a soft touch. Have the new chickens got names.

Annx Report 22 Oct 2022 19:49

Evening All,

Lost my earlier post........bother, bother, bother!!!

It must have been a nice surprise that the children were good AnnG. As you say, having things you knew they would like to do would help, but maybe they had a talking to before they came like we would have before we went visiting!

Mel are your new chickens rescue ones? I was wondering how many you have rescued altogether? It must be quite a few. It sounds like they should have snapped your hand off for the laser cutter with it being little used and nearly new. If you sell it with all the extras it will be a good saving for someone not having to pay the new price for it all.

We started the morning with a lap around the park and OH was fine and with driving. He did a bit of weeding on the front when we got back but he will need to be careful lifting or stretching up for a few weeks. I've put in a very small food order for tomorrow so there's less for us to carry in. He went to a local match this afternoon and I think it helped him feel pretty much back to his normal self again. He has a rainbow of bruises across his tummy though.

I did a few jobs while he was out and cleared most of the tomato plants into the garden bin after picking what was left. I will finish tomorrow as my knees had enough bending to undo the ties after a while, I did do a bit of weeding before I came in. I also cleaned the ensuite, prepared the rest of the veg for lunch tomorrow, then found an old pedometer OH wanted and also photographed his birth cert he wanted doing and emailed it to him. I think one of the councils he does work for need a copy. I cleared the fridge and wiped it out and finished the Asda order. We use a lot of the little tins of chopped tomatoes but they are expensive in the little tins. Napolina small tin costs 70p but an Asda large tin is only 38p so if I froze the remaining half tin it would only cost 19p for a half tin amount. I must see if I can look in Aldi next week and see how much theirs are. They have said there will be a shortage of tomatoes so I want to get a few tins in stock.

I got my mammagram results today which was a bit worrying as the nurse told me it could be 4 weeks. All is fine though so that was good to know.

No Vera again. I hope she is ok and I hope Mandy is doing well.

O Anng thats lovely so you did'nt have to put up with all the shouting and arguing, great.

Had the chickens arrive and Paddy saw to the two old hens for me and took them away Loraine put the three new ones in the run and as we went back to their truck BIL arrived with a car following with Katie, Luke and Isla who had come to see the laser cutter engraver. I offered it to them for £200 but they said they would think about it but offered me £150. Since then I looked up what oh paid for it and it was more than I thought and he bought a dell intel quad core for it at £194 so I have told BIL I want more for it all so we will see where it goes from there. There over £600s worth of stuff with everything and its only 8 months old.

AnninGlos Report 22 Oct 2022 16:45

I don't think so. I think they both felt comfortable here and I had provided stuff I knew they liked. I did wonder whether the eldest on had been put on medication as he was supposed to be having tests to see what his problem is, suspecting autism of some sort but he was very communicative and talked very sensible about lots of things.. I think if they get over tired and one kicks off they both do so maybe it was just a lucky day. I know daughter had them for five days in the summer and they were awful.

Do you think sweeties might have been banned? :-)

AnninGlos Report 22 Oct 2022 15:47

They have just left. At 3.30 so were here three and a half hours. I couldn't believe they were the same children. No shouting, no tantrums and no fighting at all. ate everything in sight and were sooo polite with the please and thank yous and 6 year old spent ages explaining something to me about what he had written. I had paper and pencils, crayons etc and a couple of pages for them to colour and the three of them spent a long time just colouring or in the nine year old's case making up a board game (Mum being the third).

and I got hugs from the nine year old when they left and, wonder of wonder, from Grandson too who is not known for being demonstrative. Mmm Maybe they are thinking they might not see me again!!!!

Good morning all fairly bright here at the moment but who knows how long it will last. If we get another day like yesterday we will soon need to build an ark. who was it complaining that the garden needed rain a few weeks back?

Just about to go and batten down the hatches before the young generation arrives.

Its no good getting tempted if G orders treats Ann.

Had the estimate for my flat roof today and rang BIL Alan and he said that was a good price so I left a message on the roofers number that I accept the estimate. He did put on the bottom that the boards were £85 each if I needed any that would go on top of the bill. When I spoke to BIL A who is a tiler and roofer he told me he gets those boards for £32 so this man I am having is going to earn well on those if I have to have any.

OH has the strawberry zero fat ones and his date goes right to the end of the month, but I have the zero fat ones with no flavouring. I'm annoyed with myself as I could have got a refund if I'd noticed sooner. I sometimes have one of the cherry Kefir drinks, but once one of those fizzed out of the bottle as soon as I opened it, even though it was still in date. Yes you would have thought your bill was big with all those soups, but that was a nice refund to get. ;-)

I hope Mandy is continuing to have less pain with her wrists and is getting better sleep now she's back in her bed. I expect the stitches came out when the plaster came off and that would help too. It must be hard when doing the exercises makes her wrists ache too. Best wishes Mandy xx <3 <3

OH is back from his first session on the course and must have been feeling virtuous as he hasn't put any treats down for this week's order!! I hope it lasts as he won't lead me astray if so.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 21 Oct 2022 16:43

I used to drink those Ann and often found them out of date. No wonder I thought my bill was high before but it was not a normal order I just thought it was that anyway just had a refund for £17.44 so that is good.

Annx

Annx Report 21 Oct 2022 16:11

Ohhhh AnnG what a lot of packet soups! It's a good job you noticed. I spotted a blunder with my last order yesterday. I have those little actimel drinks in dozen packs which last me almost a fortnight. Yesterday I suddenly noticed they were 3 days out of date after noticing a funny taste!! I must make sure I check them in future as I usually do.

AnninGlos Report 21 Oct 2022 15:29

I had just remembered that the shop was duee between 3 and four and went in the front room to fetch the cool bag, it was 2.45 and there he was outside. Had to move fast then. something really strange in my order that I had not noticed when checking it. Two very large packets which when I looked were lots of cup a soups in the original packi ng. when he checked the order said 21 packets I can only think that I changed from one to two and the number one didn't delete. anyway he has taken both lots off the order for me. I thought the bill was high. Most of the order was for the finger buffet for tomorrow lunch time.

Annx Report 21 Oct 2022 15:16

Afternoon All,

It sounded much brighter where you are earlier AnnG but I see it has changed now. It is another gloomy day here and raining hard most of the day. PC says 15 degrees. :-S No walk or doing anything outside although I could turf out what's left of the toms in the greenhouse later if it stops raining.

Other people's standards will always be different Mel and I think he's a star to have taken it on and sorted a problem for you which as you say is the main thing. I expect your BIL may have to work quickly as he must have jobs at home waiting for him too. As AnnG says hopefully it won't be long till the grass stops growing now.

It sounds like tomorrow will be a noisy day with the young boys AnnG. Sister's 2 boys were just the same when they were young and competing and argueing and tormenting each other all the time. I must get my thinking cap on now you have reminded me that Christmas isn't far off. The garden centres and where we went for lunch yesterday all have their trees up and decorated now.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 21 Oct 2022 12:51

Legs are all wet think I need to change my trousers.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 21 Oct 2022 12:14

Well after the blue sky and white fluffy clouds earlier, it was all downhill from about 0930. It has not stopped raining since and at the moment it is bucketing down and is so very dark. I had intending taking some books back to the charity lady and posting a birthday card but I am not going out in this.

I have a Tesco delivery today at 3-4pm. different this week as I needed to get stuff in for the family visiting tomorrow.

Mel, yes I suppose you are right, at least it is eventually getting cut and maybe he will soon realise that he needs to slow down. I assume he is funding the replacement parts himself. Hopefully it will stop growing soon.
