Morning all

It’s 24 degrees and feels hotter so goodness knows what it will feel like in the middle of the day. I did get some sleep last night and don’t feel too bad this morning. I was up at 7.30.and OH had already gone out for a walk. He hasn’t been walking for about 3 months but has started a morning walk again this week.

Thanks for your lovely garden photos Annx. It’s all looking colourful and attractive and much tidier than mine. Apparently putting you on a safe senders list didn’t work as your email still went into Spam but I’ve now got into the habit of checking the Spam folder before I shut the computer down each night.

Yes, I could have got a refund for my squashed cake but I didn’t bother. I’ve used it as a pudding before. It is a ginger cake and spread with a dollop of marmalade, preferably the more bitter sort, and smothered in custard, it makes a reasonable pud. The cake is now in the freezer.

I haven’t any real plans for the day. I’m trying to think of something to do which would be useful but doesn’t require much energy.

Cloudy here and rain in the air and its 19 degrees. Wore myself out yesterday trying to get my email addess in the tv. each time I did it I made a mistake and had'nt noticed. It will get sorted but I think Ed and Em go to different places with the boys on a Sunday. One to rugby and one to football.

Nothing planned for today so will just have a lazy day. Glad you both got some good sleep last night it makes you feel so much better the next day. We just hope Annx and vera and gwyn had the same.

I didn't have a bad night but I did wake early at 5.30 I thought as it was so hot I wouldn't sleep but once I got settled I soon went off .

It's 19 degrees at the moment but it's going to be hotter later so I've done a few job between sitting down to rest my knees.
Better have my cuppa .

Good morning all 19 degrees but cloudy here. Slept well last night woke once for the loo then slept from 12 until 6am, then dozed for an hour.

Nothing planned for today although I need to make a card for my eldest great Grandson who will be 12 in July.

Old one was the same size as the new one. Your garden pics were ovely to see and the wall pots are great, so colourful.I have had too many attempts to put my email address in the new telly and have now given up. I am now ging to watch something on the pc on U.

Those chicken legs would be really good value for a family as you say AnnG.

Vera you did well to get something done in the garden. I sprayed a few more weeds in the drive and watered the wall pots round the back that OH had forgotten and had to come inside. I would ask for a refund on the cake too Vera. (is it one you could use for trifle too?) I've done it with dented tins and avocados I find already past their best when I cut them and a squashed loaf of bread. As Mel says, Asda are very good about refunds and send a refund as soon as you ask for one, provided it is within I think three days. Asda substitutes anything in the shop I think! They even give you more of something you have ordered and I had a pack of mini cues on my order and a sub they sent for something else was a whole cucumber!

Our recycling bin has been full to the brim for a couple of days now, and won't be collected till Tuesday so we have had to start removing some of the papers and putting them in a pile in the garage. This morning I took a few magazines when I went to the shop and put them in their litter bin. The daft thing is the rubbish bin is rarely more than a third full.

It was 27 degrees here this afternoon, but is starting to cool a little now.

I loved BHS and Littlewoods too Mandy. BHS tops always fitted me well and I thought their clothes were well made. We had a large store at the retail park till it became Primark. It's good your knees are feeling better and I hope your system is getting more used to the tablets now. I think some of my tiredness may be due to all the pollen as the field behind us is hay now with lots of pollen. The cows haven't made the grass short yet.

I used to pick and buy Lavender for the bedroom in the hope it would help me sleep but it didn't seem to help. At one time I would buy a little bunch of Freesias every week for the bedroom from Sainsbury's down the road and they smelled lovely.

I hope you got your errands done before it got hot Gwyn. I have trouble getting off to sleep if I know I have to be up early the next day. It's good you have regular treatment set up for your ears so there's no worry getting appointments arranged.

I bet you love your new telly Mel. The brighter picture will be easier to see and is probably a bigger screen than your old one.

My bedtime now, so I hope everyone manages some good sleep tonight.

Vera can't you ask for a refund for the cake? My butter this week from Asda had been dropped and dented on opposit corners with the butter showing through I asked for a refund and they give it right away.

I did the shop this morning and whilst I was in there a friend came in who lives in the village and is also on her own we talked for a bit and both left together. She wanted to get some stuff to clean her brothers gravestone down our church but she could'nt remember what I told he rit was called. I tod her but brought her home with me and gave her a drop of mine. While she was here having a COT BIL arrived with the new telly!!!!!!!! He told me next week. Anyway he started taking the old one away and fitting the new one. Of course it did'nt fit on my tellys stand so we had to use the one he had got anyway. He has taken all afternoon to make the stand up and then start the telly up. I can see all the freesat channels and ordinary ones but not any of the prime and U & Drama or the ITVX and other on demand. I shall have to ask Ed to do that for me later but at least I can watch telly now and actually see whats going on on the screen as my old one was so dark.

I feel I have lost today completely and not done anything in the garden I wanted to do.

I now feel shattered, not got anything out for dinner, not corned the poor chickens yet either. Think may treat myself to a G & T like Anng.

That’s good that you got your order delivered early. Mine came just after 4 pm. I get an order every 2-3 weeks for 2 of us so there’s often quite a lot to unpack and put away. Today OH conveniently disappeared as Tesco arrived so I had to do it all. First, the milk was shorter dated than usual and only had 7 or 8 days to go and I had 12 pints plus what was already in the fridge so tomorrow I’ll have to freeze a few pints. Then I had ordered a whole free range chicken and the size I ordered should have been about £12. The one that came is huge and cost £16. We’ll be eating it all week! I also got the largest head of broccoli I’ve ever seen. The sub wasn’t a sub at all, it was exactly what I ordered and finally a squidgy cake had been put at the bottom of a crate with heavy stuff, including a bag of potatoes, on top of it. It was squashed nearly flat but I didn’t notice till I was putting the stuff away or I would have asked the driver to take it back. I usually think Tesco are pretty good but I wasn’t impressed by today’s picker/packer.

It is 25 degrees with the hot wind and a bit sticky as well.

Tesco phone at 3.15 of course it went to answer phone but I just about got that it was a female with Tesco delivery I could not make out what she actually said though.. I went and checked my mobile and there was a missed call (same number so I 'bit the bullet' and tried to pick up the call. I could just hear her and asked if she was wanting to come early. I made out the answer to be yes so just said that is fine. And she was here at 3.30. so that was nicely out of the way.

I had one item not available Jumbo prawns and nothing available suitable to sub. I bet if I look I will find many different prawns they could have given me. Otherwise it was fine.

I thought I had ordered a coupld of chicken legs for £2.25 and though that was good value but it is a KG of chicken legs, not sure how many but definitely more than two. I have had them before and find they have plenty of meat on them and I am thinking a family of four could be fed with meat for £2.25.

Boy, it’s hot. I expect you all feel as though you are melting too. There is quite a stiff breeze but it isn’t really cooling the heat. I think it’s the other way round, the temperature is heating up the breeze. I am definitely not looking forward to the next 3 days when it is supposed to get hotter each day..

I did get some sleep last night though I was awake for a long while in the early hours. Once I was up and organised I spent an hour in the garden raking out some dead undergrowth, tidying up a couple of overgrown ferns and deadheading all the flowering plants. I’ve also done a towel wash and that’s going round the dryer at the moment. I prefer the towels dried in the dryer though I hang everything else out if I can.

Snap AnnG, I am also expecting Tesco between 4 and 5 pm. They aren’t sending the dark choc ices I wanted and apparently there were no suitable subs for them. There is 1 sub and that is puzzling me. What they say they have sent is exactly the same as the item they say they haven’t got.

I agree with you Gwyn. The treatment received from the NHS does seem to depend on where you live and the system really does need an overhaul. However, they always seem to come up trumps in an emergency or at least that’s my experience.

I’m hoping Tesco will come early so I can get all the shopping put away and then relax for an hour before our meal tonight. Enjoy the rest of the day and remember to slap on the suncream and keep your liquid levels up and, no, I don’t mean open another bottle of wine ;-)

Anng its very windy here to and my outside toms are taking a battering too but it's helping with the heat the nice wind it's 25 degrees here so not as hot as they said .

Gwyn hope you can get your shopping done it will be nice and cool in the shop if they have the air con but don't you feel the heat when you come out the door it hits you .
Might be to hot in the garden and with the wind and the sun you can soon get sunburn so be careful.

Yes Mel i had a good night woke abouf four for the loo and back to sleep until seven .

Ann I sometimes feel tired and could quite easily nod off but I try and do something to keep awake or I won't sleep at night .
I use to like BHS stuff and Littlewoods miss those shops .
Frozen yogurt is nice for homemade lollies it freezes well I make max lollies with yogurt mashed banana and peanut butter he loves them ,I've added frozen raspberries thats nice but you could add any fruit really .

We're in now for the afternoon while it's hot the back door is open and the front window so we have a lovely breeze coming in ,if it turns muggy well have the fan on .
Knees feel OK at the moment but I haven't really done anything just rested them so hopefully the tablets are helping a bit .

I have a feeling that statins may make me dream but not sure. It is 23 degrees now but still a strong wind. Just pulled up a few weeds while walking round the garden, mostly along the edge of the gravel.

Morning All,

After even almost nodding off in my chair last night, which is unheard of for me, I fell asleep within an hour of going to bed last night with the tv on as well. I woke at about 4.00am. I got out of bed at 5.00am as I could hear creakings and rustling, but OH had got up and opened all the doors, including the patio door to get a nice, cool breeze through. I was up at 8.00am and went to the shop and got some boxed solero iced lollies we can both have as it gets hotter, as I bet places will sell out over the next few days. If I could find my moulds I would freeze some orange juice! :-S

It's 24 degrees here now, but I'm quite cool after having my cube fan on for ten minutes. I emptied a few more things I won't need in the ensuite and have a row of boxes along the bedroom wall now. OH has physio at lunchtime. so we will have a late lunch. I've rooted round and found a couple of pairs of jeans I shortened last year and another strappy top I can wear while it's hot. I'll look for two old, (BHS!) hardly worn, sleeveless ones later.

Dreams do overwork your brain trying to remember them AnnG. I only tend to get them when I have something on my mind that's bothering me these days.

Its 19 degrees here and a little cloudy but the wind seems a bit less this morning.

Nothing planned but must go up the hsop for my paper and some of their nice ham.

Good morning Gwyn and everybody. 19 degrees here, It was sunny earlier but has clouded right over now. Nothing planned for me today except Tesco 4-5 this afternoon. I have to be around from about 3.30 though as they are sometimes early.
I slept quite well last night, just wish I didn't dream so much. Not that I can remember what I dreamt but I know my 'brain' was busy all night.

A pleasant 18 degrees at the moment and I ought to get busy before the heat builds this weekend. We are predicted over 30 on at least a couple of days :-0 and I know I won't feel like doing much then.

I hope you've all had better nights sleep and without pain.
I find I'm worse if I know I have a busy day ahead or have an early appointment. Then I will wake up and it will be on my mind that I have to be ready by whenever and musn't forget whatever, then I find I can't always get back to sleep. I've had enough sleep to take the edge of tiredness, but not nearly enough to see me through the following day :-|
I usually wake around the same time each day, so I suppose that suits my body clock.

A bit of household shopping needed today and hand delivering some birthday cards, one local and one while shopping, but nothing more planned.
The garden could do with some much needed attention, but it might get too hot for that until late evening.. We'll see...

I forgot to say, Isn't it a shame that it rather depends on where you live as to what treatment you are offered sometimes.? I see others have to go looking for treatment for blocked ears. I am very fortunate that I have free regular micro suction treatment at the hospital roughly every 3 months. As soon as I have had treatment, my hearing is so much better and within about a week I receive a letter for my next appointment. They instigated this some years ago now. I have a lot of scar tissue in one ear, after several operations, so it needs properly skilled management.
I hope conversation levels can be back to normal levels for you this coming week ;-)

I am fed up with the strong wimd we have here, it is battering my tomatoes down I hope it will stop soon. It is 19 degrees here and I am just about to go to bed.

Glad you all liked the photos. The one full of petunias is a very small part of one of the large installations in Glos town centre.

Just got into bed I sat most of the evening and the pain eased lovely in my knees by the time I took my tablets went Into the bathroom they were burning and painful again just another tablet so that help me through the night .

Hope everyone has a good night's sleep ,its very muggy here now .

I did a post earlier but just as I was typing I thought I had lost the lot but it was Genes saying they were doing maintainance and to try later. Can't remember what I was going to write now. Perhaps thas why the avatars kept going.

No still not done the jimjams as I got side tracked in the garden and plants needed a good drink. I had to tie up the toms and I have little toms coming now and tie up the cue and wind the beans round the strings. Then I planted the courgette in the big square tub.

I'm sorry some of you had restless nights as well. What a lot of insomniacs we are. I hope all your various pains are easier and you have a better sleep tonight. I eventually slept from about 5 to 8 am and got up feeling like a zombie, though things improved after I had been up a little while.

You were lucky to get a cancellation at the doctors Annx. I hope the new cream helps. Gosh, you don't want Japanese Knotwood near your garden. I believe it's a nightmare to get rid of it.

I've never had the elastic give up in pjs but I think I would be lazy and look out for some going cheap rather than have the hassle of unpicking the stitching and threading new elastic. The last pair I bought were £7 in a sale. You are right Mel - I have used lavender products to help me sleep. I've had lavender oil in an oil burner to get a relaxing atmosphere in the bedroom, though I've always been worried I'd fall asleep before I blew the flame out. I've tried several makes of pillow spray and I have a large square sachet of lavender that is meant to go under the pillow. It's nice to have a pleasant aroma in the room but none of therm have actually helped me to sleep.

It's good that you were able to sit out for a while today Mandy and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. It's mostly been too hot for that here as there wasn't much of a breeze this morning. The wind has picked up quite a bit here and I've got windows and doors open in the hope of getting some nice air flowing through the house. Don't forget to keep resting those knees and don't be tempted to do too much.

The surgery emailed me to say they want some blood pressure readings. They do this every so often. I can either go in for the nurse to do it or use my own monitor at home and email the readings to them. That's what I'll do but it does make me laugh as I could just send them any old figures and they wouldn't know if I was being honest. I'll do a reading shortly and then a couple tomorrow.

I'm now going to walk down to the post box to get a birthday card off to granddaughter as our only collection over the weekend is at 7 am tomorrow and then I am going to get ready for bed. I wish everyone on the thread, including me, a peaceful night full of sweet dreams.
