Evening all,

Just popped in to wish your OH a Happy Birthday Ann , I see he got a good bargain on the book and two nice meals out means no cooking which is always good .
Thanks for the ideas for a few things to knit for the rabbits ,I have done a little bit of knitting and made the headphones as they are a nice size to do and I don't have to concentrate to hard .

I still feel very tired and really haven't done a lot ,I did put my jacket on and sat out in the lovely sunshine this morning so nice to feel the warmth of the sun .
I hope after a few more days I can start to do a bit more and comment more on the posts but at the moment this bit of typing is enough .

Apologies to your OH I meant to remember his birthday when I saw when it was yesterday. However this morning I forgot.

Sooo Happy birthday to your OH sounds like he has had a good day.

I think I have been pleased that I have been able to get something done on the garden that has taken quite a bit of strength and energy. Trying to rebuild some strength after so many days having to stay indoors when wet and cold. Hoping to be active when visiting son in April. And later daughter. I found I had lost the belief in myself to get out and do things such as walk and garden.

Afternoon All,

It's been nice and sunny again today, so after OH had opened his birthday cards and some pressies, we showered and went out for lunch again to Ullesthorpe Court this time where Sharon always gives us extra biscuits and teabags. We just had a brown bloomer bread sandwich of home made large fish fingers on tartare sauce and lettuce with a mixed salad and pot of red cabbage coleslaw. We called at the big Co-op on the way back and they had a few new books on a stand and one was a book OH wanted for a while but was waiting to find at a lower price. It's quite a thin book so he was hoping to see it at less than the £5 he had seen elsewhere. There was sticker on the front, but no price so he took it to the self serve tills and scanned it and it was only £1.50 so he was pleased to get it at that price!

Your makes are very realisic Mel, especially how you have done the barrel and bottle. Are the twigs and logs made with clay too? They should sell well I think.

OH said thank you for your birthday wishes anyway and appreciated them Vera. Yes it was the restaurant with the lumpy chairs we went to yesterday! They seem to have had some of them reupholstered now, but I still swapped my chair for OH's as my feet didn't touch the ground with mine and the front bar of the seat was digging in the back of my thighs. That's good your OH is finding his get up and go again and has started his morning walks again. I think you are right about them being energising as OH seems to get a few things done when he gets home from his walks too. You got some jobs done yesterday and I hope the new pharmacy turns out to be better with your tablets. I'm glad we changed our pharmacy just after the pandemic started as they have started charging at the carpark since.

AnnG I wish I had your motivation to get going in the garden. You are always ahead of me! I see it should be dry and sunny here tomorrow so will see if I can do some clearing up that I should have done last autumn. Now I need to get my list out and see if I can tick a few things off as well as add some.

AnninGlos Report 10 Mar 2026 12:41

Thanks for the photos Mel, what a good idea for somebody's display. Well done, hope they sell.

Just spent an hour and 20 minutes out in the garden, digging and weeding and managed to dig up a dead wegelia shrub that had really horrid roots. I think that is my lot for today. yesterday I cleared an 18 inch square of my largest border of weeds and cellandines and today I managed another 3 foot square. It is a long border but has lots of bulbs growing so is not easy to weed. I will get there It is 11 degrees here now. still sun but a bit of cloud as well

AnninGlos Report 10 Mar 2026 09:54

Well it is still only 7 degrees but the sun is shining which makes a nice change.

Morning girls,

I have a dull and dreary day today and pc says 9 degrees and rain today and temps to drop on Friday.

Shopping comes today and I don't think there are any subs so we'll see when it arrives.

I'll try and do a pic today of what I am going to put up for sale with the cockerel so you can see.

Better get my hair up now but I am washed and dressed and have the box out ready for the shopping on the sack barrow.

AnninGlos Report 10 Mar 2026 09:00

Good morning all 7 degrees andmaybe a bit brighter than yesteday again no plans but I did seem to fill yesterday with all the little jobs plus some gardening.

Vera I am a bit confused as I thought I read a bigger post from you saying you had lost a post and some of the things you repeat in this latest post. I must have been dreaming.
Anyway, you do seem to have got a lot of things done yesterday including, we hope, sorting out thepharmacy.

It is good that your OH has found a new lease of life. did he have any new medication from his last hosptal stay? Maybe that was it. Or maybe his body is responding to the shock of ending up in hospital. still well done to him.
I have given up trying to understand the latest ways of solving maths problems. There have been several changes since I left school and I was only ever good at arithmetic, never any good at Algebra and Geometry.

SuffolkVera Report 9 Mar 2026 20:51

Good evening

I’m now on the pc and typing this in Word so I don’t lose this post. On the post I lost I mentioned the weather today - foggy this morning and dreary and dull the rest of the day. I said how OH seems to have got a new lease of life. He’s started going out for a walk in the morning again and seems to come back energized. I mentioned how busy AnnG had been with book arranging and work in the garden and how pleased I was that Mandy was feeling a little better. I hope you continue to improve each day Mandy.

I changed my bed and did lots of washing this morning and got most of it dry in the tumble dryer. There were a few bits of tidying up to do and I also managed to change the pharmacy where I pick up my meds to one that’s in walking distance. I hope they are going to be better at giving me the right tablets at the right time. I collect my first lot from them in a couple of weeks’ time. I did look at the garden this afternoon and think I ought to get out there but I am struggling to find any motivation at the moment, what with the dreary weather and my painful back.

AnnG, I did get the correct answer to the maths question but I can see how people got 36 or even 5 as an answer. Everything is taught differently today and I can’t always understand the questions that children have to answer. I was surprised recently when a friend was told to take her blood pressure each day for a week. Each time she took her bp she had to do it 3 times and average it and I discovered she didn’t know how to work out an average. She just took the middle figure of the 3.

Your meal at the Italian restaurant sounded good Annx. I am glad you enjoyed it. Is this the place you used to go to with the uncomfortable chairs?

Outlook (my email programme) on my iPad has taken on a life of its own. A couple of years ago I had a new iPad. I managed successfully to transfer everything from my old iPad to the new one but Outlook kept asking for my password. Every time I put it in the programme refused to accept it so it never worked. Granddaughter downloaded and set up the Outlook app for me which has worked fine until the last few days when the gremlins have got in. The app stopped working but the “programmed in” Outlook which hasn’t worked for 2 years suddenly started operating without apparently needing a password. Now the app has started working again! So on my iPad I now have 2 Outlook programmes operating in exactly the same way, both sending and receiving the same emails. I haven’t been “playing” with it, trying to get things to work; they have started operating completely out of the blue without any input from me. How weird is that?

I’m now going to read last week’s local paper online. I used to buy the physical paper but the number of pages got fewer and fewer and the price got higher and higher. I now subscribe and it costs me about a quarter of the price to read it online.

:-D I have to admit I didn't actually decide to do a small patch at a time. After clearing that patch my arm (pulling grass out) and back (bending) couldn't take any more. Oh to be younger, stronger and more supple again.

Annx

Annx Report 9 Mar 2026 16:36

Afternoon All,

Dull, dreary and a bit misty here today. I got the right answer too, but agree with AnnG as I have to think about brackets sometimes. OH said he read the other day that half of adults now can't work out 10% of £9.00.

We had a lovely meal at the italian restaurant today. Skewers with 4 chicken thighs wrapped in a bit of ham each, garlic mushrooms, a bowl of roasted, wafer thin slices of swede, parsnip, courgette, peppers and red onion, a bowl of mixed salad with sweetcorn, spinach, rocket, tiny tomatoes, onion and cucumber and shared cannelloni with spinach and ricotta all with some garlic bread. We had no room for any desert after. Service was great and we had a nice table with comfy chairs.

It's good to know you haven't had anymore of those feeling faint spells Mandy and that your head feels slightly better. Will the hospital or doctor be seeing you again to see how you are getting on or changing your meds? I was thinking what else you could make for your knitted Rabbits afteryou asked and I wondered about a little crocheted flower brooch or a hanky with an initial to go in a pocket or headphones.

Sorry to hear your back is playing up still Vera. Sometimes you just have to wait these things out don't you but it is frustrating when you want to get on with things. I'm glad that my foot seems mostly back to normal now thank goodness, but I'm still using the shoe inserts. My IT problem today is my emails. I seemed to have lost my 'new email label', but then discovered, that instead of leaving that perfectly good label in the list, they have put a 'pen' symbol instead. Now in the Ancestry site a pen symbol stands for 'edit'. Why do they keep changing things to make it more confusing. Maybe few can read english here and so we are needing more pictures instead now. Thank you for your birthday wishes for OH tomorrow! I would probably have not even remembered it was tomorrow in your shoes.

You've been busy AnnG and I know I took a few dictionaries to the charity shop a while ago as I look spelling or meaning of words up on the internet now instead. I have a lot of weeding to start on but it's a good idea to start clearing a small patch at a time.

Mel what are you making with the moulds you have now? Will it be something to go with the Cockerel?

I’ve just lost a post. It’s my own fault. I’m on the iPad and I should have done it in Notes and then done a c&p but I did it straight into Genes and lost it. No time to redo it all now. I’ll try and get back later.

Just sleared a bit of one area in the garden that has lacked any attention since last year and was full of grass. I now after half an hour of digging and pulling have a piece of dug over earth, weed free abour 18 inches square.. And this is the largest border I have. Going to take a few days work to clear this one.

Just been round to the chickens to give them some bread with olive oil on and on the way back there was a big ladybird on the grass and it was flying about. then round to the back door where there was a huge bumble bee on the flowers on the patio and this morning I saw a butterfly, fly past the window but it only looked black. Spring is definately here I think even if we don't get sunshine.

It would be interesting to know which age group found the maths question difficult as I suspect it is in the way maths was taught when they were at school. I am aware that thee have been several changes in how to work things out.

Besdies walking down to Irene's with a few books, I have, since I came back sorted out one of the book shelves in the book case and taken a load from there and added them to a half empty shelf in the dining room So the book case has one half full shelf and a completely empty shelf with a few small disney ornaments on it. I have a few more books for Irene now, these are tending to be walking books and I know there are more that I can off load.

So gloomy here today with such a heavy mist that visibility is very limited.
Laptop is telling me it's 12 degrees and mostly cloudy, but that seems too warm for how I feel.

Good to hear that you feel a little better, Mandy, but be very gentle on yourself and take each day steadily. I hope you soon get some answers and help to really improve the situation.
So sad that your appointment with the locum was not good.
I do realise that we can't just get an appointment and then come up with a whole list of ailments, but I do wish they would be willing to see the bigger picture and realise that several factors may be featuring in the present situation.
Hopefully the hospital tests will give a clearer picture of your body's needs.

AnnG
I am late responding to your maths question, but I too was able to work it out quickly and easily.
I remember being taught B O D M A S for the order of working out such a sum, ie. Brackets, of, division, multiplication, addition and subtraction.

Pleased that you are feeling better Mandy. probably a good idea to keep away from the screen a bit if it makes your eyes ache. Maybe the eye test when you have it will have an answer for that.

It is still dark and gloomy and I noticed the sand has landed on my wheelie bins so I had better get some water thrown over them. I have had a bit odf a sort out of one of the lounge book shelves. These were in the book case that has doors. I like the piece of furniture but the shelves are very low and difficult these days to get down to. so some older books have gone down to Irene and I think I will transfer some of the rest of the books to other higher book shelves so that is another job for the list. I knew I had a theasaurus up in my office but had completely forgeotten the huge one I had downstairs, also books to help with crosswords (which I rarely do now but used to) and one book of all the english preverbs.. I used to do a lot of competitions when they were attached to items bought among the groceries and some of the books I found were to help with that.

I extended the walk to and from Irenes this morning and I think that is probably three quarters of a ile (ish). If the weather picks up a bit I will soon think about walking round the park way.

Morning ,
Another grey day here , thought I'd do a post ,I have gradually read the posts but try not to look at the screen to long as it makes my eyes ache a bit .
I do think my head is slightly better today and I haven't had a passing out feeling since Saturday so thats one good thing as they are awful .
Off to get a shower now , might look in later .
