Afternoon All,

It was the hottest ever last night and we woke up feeling a bit badly so stood outside in the early hours. The bungalow walls seem to hold, then let out a lot of heat as we cooled everywhere down before we went to bed. We sat in the lounge then and chatted with the patio door wide open and the bedroom window wide open till it was cooler inside.

OH said he liked what he saw of Dereham, the nice station with signal box and said the football ground was very nice. He wasn't home till late but said at least the car journeys were nice and cool.

Like Mandy says, nothing much doing as it's too hot. The Magpies have knocked over and broken one of my favourite smaller pots. We hear a gang of young ones most mornings, including this morning, and they look for grubs in the nice damp soil after we've watered. Food delivery this afternoon but I haven't ordered a lot this time.

Not a lot to say really ,still hot so a lazy day ahead trying to keep cool I think

Good morning all 17 degrees here but it was a very hot and sticky night, didn't sleep that well so a bit 'sluggish' this morning. Got the Tesco shop due and I will change the bed as well, needs doing more often these hot nights!

Mandy I did, of course have a G&T but no ice just a slice ;-) Ice waters it down

Mel I hope your OH soon feels better ,he has been so busy working on that hedge perhaps he's overdone it .

Anng sounds as if you've enjoyed your day and what a lot of cards you've had ,are you having a nice cool birthday drink with an ice and a slice :-D

Oh Ann I never thought about all the extra traffic with the trains on strike that OH would get stuck in ,hope he gets home safely ,he'll be ready for a nice cool drink.
I bet all the yarn bombing looks nice ,lots of hard work gone into doing them ,I hope they are all left alone and not interfered with.


We're sitting outside now in the shade but its much warmer out tonight than last night and very little breeze ,we usually stay out until its nearly dark and really cool down .
I have to admit I did doze off this afternoon for about an hour not like me but I just couldn't keep my eyes open .

Oh yes my conservatory is unbearable, I don't linger when I pass through.
Yes I have all the cards we ever sent to each other and that is a lot of cards. One day I will feel strong enough to look at them. Not yet though.

Of course you would miss that one AnnG. We've kept all the cards we have ever sent to each other and keep saying we should throw some out, but then I hesitate and leave them!

It's 32 here and the door from the conservatory to the kitchen has shrunk a bit with all the heat and keeps flipping open letting the conservatory heat inside. The conservatory windows are all open as is the door to the outside but it still gets boiling in there.

About 6 of the cards are from the birthday card group, all hand made cards. The rest are friends scattered around the country and three of them are very old friends from school. And with all those cards I am missing the all important one. I miss his cards more than his presents.

Oh I never get that many cards AnnG, you did very well! It sounds like you had a nice day with some nice meals with your friend. I have wondered about getting some Echinacea. They don't seem to need staking for one thing and are drought tolerant and have some lovely colours. A good choice I think. You will be able to edge the gravel now you have the log edging too.The Gordon's when you got back was a nice surprise. :-)

OH rang to say the journey was horrendous with lots of traffic and roadwork queues. Of course I'd forgotten about the rail strikes and more cars being on the roads. He's coming home a different way so may be home later depending on the traffic on that route.

It's 31 here now but there's a bit of a breeze so not too bad. The courgettes are looking sick!

I have had a good day 24 cards I think at the last count. My friend took me to two garden centres at the first which was dobbies I used my birthday voucher to pay for coffee and cake for us both. At the second she bought me lunch. so it was a good day, very hot but nice to have company. I bought log roll in the first garden centre and a pair of sketcher's trainers and an Echinacea in the second. I have got birthday money to spend but spent my own money on what I bought today. when I got home there was a card on the doorstep attached to a small can of gorden's Gin. From my neighbour over the road.

No problem Mel, I hope your OH is starting to feel better. Sorry to hear he has been poorly

I hope you are having a nice day, whatever you are doing. I hoped you would like my painted addition to your card. :-)

OH has gone to the match and taken several bottles of water, some cobs and his straw hat and brolly and some migraine tablets just in case. I just hope he doesn't end up in any bad traffic queues in this heat. He said if it gets unbearable he'll come home early but I still think he's mad!

I nipped to the shop to get a paper and a pasta salad and noticed the latest Yarn Bomb is in full swing. Elephants opposite the little park, a nice lighthouse, trees full of knitted hearts and fish and a lovely crocheted cup of coffee with crocheted marshmallows outside the Tithe Barn restaurant and lots more things they are still adding.
