It is 34 here now and very sticky. I wore my hat walking round and it was ok. Coming back I wore the hate when I was in the sun and took it off in the shade.
this afternoon it was lovely in the car with the air conditioning and also in the restaurant. It was hot among the pots and plants so we didn't linger too long. It was a nice afternoon though and cynth treated me to my tea and a piece of cake. It is very hot in this room now so I am off downsairs.

Mandy OH has gone for a lay down and I think he is doing the same as Colin with his eyelids. He didn't sleep too well last night and a tooth near the extracted one was twinging and aching. He rubbed some sensitive toothpaste round it and took some parcetamol which helped. It is much better now but he thinks he hasn't been careful enough when eating so hopefully it will soon settle. You must have jumped when the fire engine turned up even though you were pretty sure what the problem was. They have to do all the checks before they move off gain too so it would have taken a while. It's surprising how loud cars sound when it's really early in the morning. One comes to deliver our local paper about 6.30 am and you can hear the loud music playing before the car appears. The things you are making sound good. Bandanas have become popular haven't they. Even a friend's cat and dog wear them. I bet Max was enjoying the cool tiles on his bare tummy!
How was the walk to the hairdresser AnnG? I expect the walk back was hotter, but the hat and brolly would help keen the sun off you.
I better get the beads out. It's reached 31 here now and feels a bit sticky.

Afternoon all,
We had a very disturbed night, the heat kept us awake and I got up a couple of times for the loo then at quarter past three we were woken by blue flashing lights from the fire engine ,one of them hopped out the engine and walked up to the flats next to us ,the fire alarm seems to always be going off up there when there's no fire , and the engine turns up all hours of the day any way just dozing off again when a neighbour started up his car what a racket that made at five in the morning ,its one of those with a big exhaust . Finally dropped off and woke just after seven .
We're in in front of the fans again ,Max is under the table on the tiled floor in the conservatory, I might do a bit of stitching I've been making some head bands and elastic bracelets and I'm going to have a go at a Bandana this afternoon.
Vera your probably busy with your family now but I hope you all enjoy the weekend together and can manage to keep cool .
Ann you were out nice and early ,I hope your arm is not to sore after your jab but at least your getting them done . How is OH's gum now after his extraction ,I suppose he has to watch what he has to eat for a while with nothing to hard to chew to dig into the gum .
Anng how was your walk to the hairdresser did you use the brolly, I actually saw someone out today walking with a brolly up and I thought of you wondering if you'd used yours .
Oh Mel I hate those old flying Ants ,I was going to say you should have chucked some water over them but with the water situation it would have been a waste .
31 here now ,better get up and do my stitching or I'll be dozing off ,Colins looking at the back of his eye lids :-D

I hope you enjoy your get together Vera and manage to keep cool. Stick a bowl of icecubes or some water in front of the fan tonight. It might help a bit.
Yes it's a massive shop AnnG and 2 storeys high as Oldrids the furniture people are there as well. I'm thinking of going back next week once it's less hot and while their sale is still on. I will be able to browse better without OH, although he does wander off to look at other things a lot of the time. At the other end of the car park is a massive garden centre, but it wasn't air conditioned and a bit much for me to walk around as well as the rest.

Thank you Vera, enjoy your visitors and I hope the heat doesn't get to you too much.
It is 29 degrees here now and I am just anticipating the walk to the hairdressers. I have a hat and an umbrella ready to go with me.
Ann, Ah, all different shops. Still must be good for a look round to see what they have. Hope you don't have any reactions from all the jabs.
I actually slep quite well last night from about 12 to 0615.

We all seem to have struggled with sleep last night. I had sorted out my bedroom and en-suite for our visitors so had moved into a twin bedded room which is probably one of the warmest rooms in the house. I had a fan going all night but it was like trying to sleep in a fan oven. So this morning I have a stinking headache and feel like a wet week. Never mind, I'll plaster on the smiles for our guests who are due to arrive about lunchtime.
At the moment it is 28 degrees but the app is telling me it feels like 31. Phew, it's too much for me.
In case I don't get back on the thread for a couple of days, I hope you all have a good weekend and that you have a lovely birthday AnnG.

Morning All,
Phew it was a hot night and I got up and splashed my face with water once. The hot water bottlie is going in the fridge for tonight.
The shop is a Boundary Mill outlet AnnG and they have dozens of different makes in there so a size in one make can be bigger or smaller than in another make. Yes by eating healthily and like a mouse I lost 3 stones last year. Then the endocrinologist was concerned and ordered more tests so I thought I'd check if I could gain weight again and before I knew it I'd put half the weight back on! Now I'm getting back on track, as it really helped my knees, but it does cause sizes to fluctuate as well. I need to shorten the trousers as I always do. M&S sizes are usually reliable.
I hope the sticky heat doesn't move up here next. It is 24 here at the moment but expected to be hotter still today.
Yuk I hate those flying ants Mel and it makes me itch even thinking of them crawling n my hair! I wonder what they like about your car roof? My car gets covered in those red spider things earlier in the year. I think they like the white colour as they go on the window frames too, yet leave OH's car alone.
We were out by 7.40 am this morning for me to see the nurse. She did another jab today, tetanus, diphtheria and polio vaccine. I think it will be the MMR one next time. OH handed in his form to be registered online. We can both start ordering our scripts online next time. It will save a trip to the surgery and be a small saving on fuel which all adds up.
I'm going to do the braclet now. Lunch is salad with ham and boiled eggs today. I must add some things to the food order as well.

Good morning all 17 degrees here at the moment 0655.
We still had the sticky heat yesterday Ann. hate it when your clothes all stick to you. My suite is leather so when it id hot I have to sit on a towel as the leather draws the heat. I have to do the same with my office chair.
What is the actual shop in the retail park Ann, you seem to not be able to judge the size. as you need to return things? Or is this post covid when you didn't buy anything so your size has changed. Or maybe a make you bought before is now being made in a different place. I suppose like the sizing of M&S trousers etc. Although their tops seem pretty consistent.
Mel ugh, ants in your hair, made me itch just reading about it. You need to be careful they don't actually get into your car. :-(

Les has'nt got a pc or the internet so he can't download any books. He usually has about 10 books a month so I would'nt know what ones he's had or what he likes. At one time he was having railway books but now I think he just reads detective type ones.
Its cooled down a bit here to 28 degrees now. Wehad a breeze today but it was like being next to a fan heater on low it was so hot.
This is the fourth time I have had an ant attack on my car roof. When I went to shut the windows yesterday they got in my hair and I was itching all evening.

Afternoon All,
Yes 31 here now too, but gosh even hotter where you are AnnG! the good thing we have noticed is that there hasn't been so much of that awful, humid sticky heat as yet.
Like you Mandy I want a lolly out of the freezer, but am hanging on as it is so hot outside. I bet Max loved having a bath and shaking the water all over you. OH hasn't totally decided about Saturday yet, but will take lots of water to drink and a wide brimmed hat if he does. The umbrella idea is good and he carries a huge one in the boot so I will mention it to him. I think he was hoping I might go with him, but no way in this heat! He looked a bit alarmed when I told him I'd read about tyres bursting with the heat on motorways.
The Cathedral will be cool as you say Vera and a good idea for a visit with your visitors. One of the churches with a nice view not too far away from here is opening at the weekend and I thought about having a look while OH goes off to footie. I thought it would be nice and cool.
Thanks for missing me AnnG. We have been a bit busy! Yesterday we went early to the big retail park in Rutland. Hardly a soul there and it has all been refurbished including the cafe, but with wider aisles (and less clothes) but much easier to walk around and with aircon. Their sale was on so I got 2 tops, trousers and sandals. I'll be taking the 2 tops back next week, but may get another pair of the trousers in another colour now I know they fit. I also got some cards and was able to check out the slow cookers and decide the middle size would be suitable which was the one they had sold out of!
This morning we had to be at the hospital for 8.00am as the hospital dentist rang last night. I went too so I could drop OH off to save queuing and parking charges. I waited in Morrisons carpark nearby under the shady trees. He had a chat with OH and has issued antibiotics to reduce the risk of bone infection. He has advised him to see an endodontist privately if needs be as they are expert at precision root fillings using microscopes, which are less risky than extractions. He said the treatment for osteoporosist is the risk, which although rare, can cause crumbling of the jawbones making dentistry risky.
I made an easy necklace to go with a top yesterday. I just sorted some colours to go with it and some different shapes, some from old charity shop necklaces and it turned out ok. I might do a matching bracelet. I'll send a pic and one of the triangular house we passed on the way to the retail park. I got a clearer one this time Mel. What a shame about the library van. I suppose the man wouldn't be able to use a kindle? Difficult for someone to get books for him as I expect he likes to choose his own.

Thanks for that Mandy that is a good idea, I do have a cap that I wear in the sun but don't really want to wear it when I have had my hair done.
It is 33 here now. I sat down the garden under the tree in the shade and, with the breeze I fely quite cool. Once walking up through the garden though I was pleased to get indoors. I have had windows and doors shut in the lounge and curtians drawn and it is really cool in there at the moment. Can't say the same for this office though.

Afternoon all,
Phew 31 here much to hot to be even sitting in the shade, there's a little breeze but its a warm breeze so no way does it cool you ,so we're in in front of the fan . Yesterday we gave Max a bath so that cool him down and us too as he gave his self a good shake we got splattered .
Oh Ann so OH is thinking of coming to a match in our neck if the woods on Saturday ,we've been in the hall at the football ground for a wedding reception but it was several years ago now . They use to play on the local Rec but then got the land at the top of Norwich Road and had the building and pitch built . I hope he's OK if he does decide to come as its going to be very hot .
Mel how awful those hooligans burning the library bus, a pretty penny there went up in flames with the cost of the vehicle and all the books ,I hope they manage to catch them .
Oh goodness Anng hope the hairdressers have air con the only trouble is when you've been in the air con room you feel the heat even more when you come out . Take a brolly with you for some shade when your walking I've seen several people using one lately for some shade and you can soon get sun stroke with that blazing sun on your head .
Vera that idea of yours to visit the Cathedral with your visitors sounds a good one ,it should be nice and cool in there with the thick walls and the Abbey grounds are lovely ,it's a while since we've been but I use to go to Bury on market day on the bus with my sister and we use to get a sandwich and sit in the grounds .
Time for an ice cream I think, just got to brave the heat going down to the freezer in the shed to get one .

28 and climbing here. It's almost as though we are competing to see who can reach the highest temperature, lol.
Mel, it beggars belief that someone would set a mobile library on fire, presumably for "fun". It's very hard on people like your Les who rely on it for books and a bit of social interaction. Is he computer literate with a laptop or iPad or similar? If so he could download the Libby app which would let him borrow books online just like using the library. In fact, you could get talking books yourself until your library service is operating again. It won't help with meeting people but at least Les might be able to carry on reading. Just something to think about. I use it all the time.
We set to first thing between us and dusted and vacced right through, washed the kitchen floor, got beds made up and bathrooms cleaned and washed a load of towels. When we had finished and I thought we had better get lunch I was amazed to find it was still only 11 o'clock! OH is getting us a sandwich now, a bit earlier than usual, as daughter is coming and reckons to be here by about 2 pm.
Yes, AnnG, our car has excellent air conditioning and I expect theirs does too. We have had a thought for Saturday if they fancy it. We thought we would go to Bury St Edmunds. There are plenty of air conditioned shops and lots of cafes but there is also the Cathedral which will be cool inside and currently has an exhibition of 12 huge silk panels depicting the Creation, all stitched by one lady. Next to the Cathedral are the Abbey Gardens with the ruins of the old Bury Abbey and the little river Lark running along the bottom. If we can find a bit of shade it will be nice to wander through there.
Lunch is ready so I'd better go and eat.
