SuffolkVera Report 19 May 2022 17:16

I'm sorry to hear that you are in so much pain with your shoulder and arm Mel. I hope it settles down quickly. Isn't it strange that you are apparently receiving other emails but not AnnG's? Presumably the rest of us wouldn't get her emails if there was a fault her end, and you wouldn't get anybody else's if there was a fault your end, which does suggest to me that she has somehow got blocked from your system. Have you looked at this? I don't know what system you use for emails. Ours is Outlook and I can tell you what to do there. If you've still got an older email from AnnG in your inbox just highlight it and then on the toolbar across the top click on "junk". It should come up with 3 or 4 options, one of which is "Never block this sender". Click on that and it should clear it if AnnG has accidentally got blocked. If you are on a different system to Outlook you should be able to find something similar in the toolbar. If that doesn't work I really am flummoxed. We'll all have to put our computer thinking caps on as there must be a solution.

This morning OH said to me that the thunder only lasted a few minutes last night. Er, no......he slept through it :-) It was still raining fairly heavily when we left for the hospital and we had to drive through some deep puddles on the way but it stopped as we arrived. He went in and I decided to walk on the heath that's close by the hospital. It's called a heath but is more like parkland with a lot of grassland, some left unmown for the wildlife, and lots of beautiful mature trees. I came across a group of 3 enormous copper beech trees which looked really lovely. It was a bit chilly as it was very overcast and the air was still damp but it was nice to be out in the fresh air in a pleasant environment. After about an hour I went back to the car and sat and read till OH appeared some time later. He said everything seemed to go OK, so now it is just waiting for results and they didn't give him any indication of how long it would be.

On the way back we stopped in our town and picked up my meds and we popped into Waitrose for a couple of bits. I was surprised that I only saw one other customer with a mask and she happened to be someone we know so we stopped for a chat. Sadly her news wasn't good as it seems her husband is now very seriously ill and all treatment for him has now been stopped. He is such a lovely man with a fund of stories and a way of telling them that has everyone in fits of laughter. He's Suffolk born and bred and is one of the few people you hear now speaking Suffolk dialect with a real old country accent.

With all this we didn't get home till 1.30 and by the time we'd had some lunch and tidied up a bit the afternoon was half gone, so I still haven't done much h/w or gardening. I have been online for quite a while booking a delivery from Sainsbury's for Monday and trying to sort out a birthday present for delivery to our dil next week. Now it's time to start thinking about preparing dinner.

Oh, the sun's just come out for the first time today. Surprising how much more cheerful everything looks already :-)

But Mel, that doesn't explain why you are not receiving emails from me. I have sent you three today not all with photos. Have you not got any of mine? I assume you have somehow not blocked me from sending you emails?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 May 2022 15:06

Thanks Mandy and Ann I got them at last. Kind of you girls to forward them on to me.

Love the little chicks in the nest and the bullrush one and the tree with coloured leaves.

Shoulder and arm very painful at the mo. I cleaned the bathroom this morning but I have taken a couple of pills now and am hoping it will go off soon. It seems to be the mouse that is making it ache so if I twiddle the middle bit to go up or down so I think I need to give the pc a rest for a day or two.

Also sent everyone an email with 2 garden photos on it, hopefully Mel and Ann will both get it.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 19 May 2022 11:23

I really don't understand this Mel. But I will send you an email without the photos to see if that is what is blocking you getting them Annoying for you and for me as it takes a bit of time re-doing it.

Vera hope the scans went ok and didn't take too long, also hope you had a good book to read.

Mandy, I didn't know that about stopping the condensation dripping, will have to check that out.

Well it hasn't rained but is very humisd. had to wear a raincoat in case it did rain when I ent round for my prescription so was very hot when I got home. Still that is out of the way now also found the post office open so was able to post a packet I had and picked up a few bits in McColls which is looking very sad with a lot of empty shelves.

Morning all,

We had rain yesterday evening and maybe in the night but no thunder woke me in the night.

Hope oh gets through quickly at the hospital today and you're not left too long waiting inthe car Vera.

Had an email from Ann with her picture this morning and others from Amazon and family search so emails are coming through to me just not yours Anng. Perhaps one of you could try and forward the pics to me and see if I can get them that way.

12 degrees here with some sun and blue white and grey sky and pc says cloudy. May sow some seeds today and get my beans inthe tub.

Banty has laid 4 eggs this year so far. I think last year was about 6 in all.

Must go and see if Mrs Robby needs worms.

MillymollyAmanda Report 19 May 2022 09:18

Morning all,

We went to bed expecting to be woken by the thunder and never had any ,I looked on the camera and we did have a little rain about half past one but that was it .

Oh thats a shame if the fox has had poor Phil and little robby has gone too Mel
I wonder why your not getting Anng's emails have you had any emails lately maybe one of us should try sending you an email so you can see if it gets to you .

Hope all goes well at the hospital for your OH today Vera and your not waiting about to long at least its a bit cooler it would have been very uncomfortable sitting in the car yesterday with the heat .

I want to get some Redbeckia potted up this morning they were seeds I put in and I think Monty said you pot up ready to plant out in the garden next year so I will have to find somewhere to store them now .

Ann that was a good result from your scan you must feel relieved now you have to wait for the urine test result so fingers crossed that's OK too .
What a shame the slow cookers were sold out I think I will be using mine a bit more next winter to save a bit of electric ,the recipes that some people put on fb don't always look that appealing some look so watery so I think it will be trail and error with a few things., I did read where you could lay a tea towel across the top before you put the lid on and that helps to stop the condensation from the lid dropping into the pan and adding extra liquid in the pot .

good morning, I didn't sleep well last night but if there was thunder I of course, didn't hear it. A bit damp looking here so far this morning and 11 degrees. Hopefully it will stay dry as I need to walk to the chemist to get my next prescription.. Maybe the post office will be open who knows?

SuffolkVera Report 19 May 2022 07:03

Good morning all

Did you get the storms last night? We had thunder and heavy rain for a couple of hours starting from midnight so it was well turned 2 am before I got to sleep and I was awake again at 6 am. It’s overcast at the moment but already 14 degrees so it looks as though it is going to be another warm day.

We’ll be at the hospital most of the morning and we’ll need to stop in town on the way back to pick up my meds. I’m hoping to get in the garden again this afternoon.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 May 2022 22:23

We've had rain again today with some bright spells and its not really cold or hot.

I still hav'nt got the pictures Anng or the test email.

My arm has hurt today and I also rubbed my ear so I now have earache again.

I hav'nt seen Phil Phesant for 2 weeks now so I think we have lost him to Mr Fox and today I hav'nt seen shed Robby and he's been sneezing badly in the week. His wife has been coming for mealworms and has been taking them away so I think Robby has hit the dust and she's left feeding the kids all on her own. We have had a sparrow hawk about and it took a wood pigeon a couple of days ago as oh saw it happen so I hope Robby has'nt gone the same way. He seemed to have a funny beak much longer than the usual Robins beak and it did'nt fit together as it seemed to bow a bit in the middle. He had been like that from a yong bird as he was the first one of the babies to come on my hand and get tod off by his parents. I have been making sure the wife has had worms avcailable most of the day and I think the nest is at the base of the second Beauty of Bath apple tree behind my she dint he orchard. I get so attached to my Robins and am also very sad to lose them.

Have only done a bit of craft today and nothing else .

Took the bin bag up with me when I went of rthe fish and chips and forgot to put it out. Oh asked me if I remembered it just before dark so I went up with it then.

SuffolkVera Report 18 May 2022 20:38

It's been a really hot, muggy sort of day. I didn't sleep well again so woke up with a headache which has made me grumpy all day. I got a bit snappy with OH but I did apologise. The temperature is not supposed to drop below about 13 degrees tonight so it could be an uncomfortable night again AND we are supposed to be getting thunder, lightening and rain through the early hours. It certainly feels heavy and stormy. Because of the weather and the headache I didn't do as much as I planned today but I did the ironing as soon as I was up , before it got too hot, and I managed two short stints in the garden. I wore a large, shapeless old hat and sunglasses and must have looked a sight.

What a shame your talk was so uninteresting AnnG. It's funny how some speakers can really hold an audience while others practically send them to sleep.

That's good news about your scan Ann. You must feel relieved. I always think the waiting for the results is the worst part of any medical investigations. OH has to have an X-Ray and scan tomorrow so I'll be on tenterhooks until the results come, though he seems quite laid back about it. I'll go with him just in case he doesn't want to drive home but I can't go in the hospital with him so will have to wait in the car. I'd better make sure I have a book with me.

I'm going to shower now as I feel sticky and I probably won't have time in the morning as we have to be out early. I might then try and get an early night. I hope you all sleep well and don't get woken by any thunderstorms.

AnninGlos Report 18 May 2022 15:59

Ah I just got in and didn't look on here so apologies as you may have now had a second lot. Actually you may have got a couple of different ones.

That was a very disappointing talk really boring. Nothing about the interesting part of Bletchl;ey Park but was about the computer museum part. so a small amount was interesting telling about the start of computers, explaining to a lot of people who were really not interested, about binary figures, codes and all sorts. He showed us a remake of the first computer which was nicknames colossus and I thought, yes when I started work in 1956 that was exactly like the computer that did our payrolls. I worked in an Admiralty pay office. He was not actually an interesting speaker, it could have been more interesting as he told us how messages were sent by punched tape and that had to be encrypted and then he told us how the code was broken. But I couldn't tell you because he didn't make it clear and interesting.

Afternoon All,

It's 18 degrees now and a lovely sunny day. Thank you AnnG, I have the emails now and the test one! The photos are lovely and I quite like some of the sculptures which is unusual for me. I especially like the bulrush one. Thank you for sending them. Your Bletchley Park talk should be interesting today.

Well spotted Vera and that seems to have been the problem.......another Ann! Yes if it gets as hot again today it won't be good for HW. I need to give the carpets a swift hoovering as the blind man is back again in the morning to fit the new longer sticks on the main bedroom blinds. We tried and failed to remove the old ones as they hook on so tightly we were afraid of causing damage to the rail.

I was up early and went to the factory shop, partly with the idea of looking at the slow cookers as they may be a good investment with energy prices going up. Well there wasn't even one left in any make so it looks like others have had the same idea! :-( Hardly a soul in there and they had some nice clothes which I resisted! I got some LED bulbs for the uti and outside light, some mule slippers and a big box of slow release fertilizer for the garden. As OH would still be having his interview I decided to swerve by the garden centre we visit to see if it was busy. It wasn't at all so I called in to see if they had one of the Choisyas I want. They didn't, so I had a look at the cards as I need a few, nothing I liked there so I got an icecream to have in the car, but wiped it down with sanitiser before removing the wrapper.

There was a letter from the hospital today. The results of the 2nd scan were in and they said the mass is benign so I won't need any more scans. I just have to wait the 6 weeks for the results from the last urine test now.

I'm back to my painting next for a while as I need to finish it today and send it to the teacher.
