No I looked in trash and spam but our leccy went out yesterday for a long while and could'nt seem to connect again. It did it again last night and we waited an hour for it to right itself.

SuffolkVera Report 18 May 2022 11:24

I think you would have known the other Anne, AnnG. I knew her and had her details and I joined the thread after you. Her posts were a bit intermittent and usually fairly short. She often talked about her granddaughters coming for Sunday dinner or her weekly Sainsbury delivery.

It's odd that Mel didn't get your emails as I can see you sent them to her. Usually they bounce back if they can't be delivered for some reason. Are you sure they haven't gone into spam or junk mail Mel?

Technology's wonderful when it works but isn't it frustrating when it gets a gremlin in the system?

Morning AnnG and all

AnnG, on the list of names at the top of your two emails you have included the Ann who used to post a few years ago but not included Annx. Did you accidentally send to the wrong Ann? Enjoy your talk about Bletchley.

It was very hot again last night and I spent a lot of time just lying on top of the bed. It’s already 16 degrees here and is supposed to get to 23, not the weather for h/w and ironing.

Have a good day everyone

AnninGlos Report 18 May 2022 07:29

good morning all very bright here this morning and 8 degrees, up early as I wanted to change the bed and get the bedding washed. Going out this afternoon to the U3a main meeting and a talk on Bletchley Park. Being picked up at 1.45

That is really strange Ann, although I seem to think it has happened before. I will try again. First though, checking my contacts I seem to have more than one email address for you. could you email or message me the address you want me to use. thanks.

Annx Report 17 May 2022 21:41

They still haven't arrived here AnnG. Nothing in my spam either.

It turned out well with the chiropodist's new premises Vera and plenty of parking too. I bet your feet feel lovely now. :-) Good luck to your granddaughter with her GCSE's. At least other children will have gone through the pandemic too, but situations would be different in each family and I expect some would have coped better than others.

I hope your arm has carried on being better today Mel and that you managed with the shopping ok.

Off to bed now, sleep tight everyone. If I manage to get up early enough I might go to the factory shop tomorrow. OH can't as he has a Zoom interview for some other work he fancies getting involved in.

SuffolkVera Report 17 May 2022 20:15

I received them both AnnG (at 3.18 pm and 3.23 pm). Our friends were here at the time so I didn't get to look at them straightaway. It looks a great place and I love some of the sculptures. Thanks for sending the pictures.

What a shame your cool box was damaged Ann. Why on earth didn't they put packing around it? Perhaps it was a new packer who needs a bit more training lol

I found the chiropodist OK. I had a rough idea where it was but had never been there. It turned out to be only about 2 miles from here and easy to get to, the only problem being having to turn right into a narrow lane from a busy main road. The chiropodist has a good unit on a business park. It's more spacious than her old place and has good parking facilities so it's better all round.

This afternoon our friends came for a cuppa and cake and we were able to sit outside. It was really pleasant but at times almost too hot. I think it might be a very warm night again.

My youngest grandchild had her first GCSE exam today so good luck to her and all the other youngsters in the country doing public exams right now. They've not had an easy time of it over the last couple of years with all the remote learning and self-discipline required of them.

I think I've actually got a free day tomorrow. When I say free I mean no appointments but I shall have to take the opportunity to catch up on some h/w and hopefully do a bit more in the garden. I'm hoping for a decent night's sleep tonight and, with luck, you'll all sleep well too.

AnninGlos Report 17 May 2022 18:43

Has anyone received any photos yet there were two emails sent.

Annx

Annx Report 17 May 2022 17:59

A great trip out then AnnG with plenty to see and a nice owner giving an interesting talk. No photos received here yet?

I planted up another 2 pots and a tub, but what with getting compost out of the bag and sorting what should go where and watering I was sweltering. I've left doing the cues till tomorrow as the greenhouse was unbearable. We had a strawberry each to pick today and there is a flower on one of the courgettes.

The new cool box I ordered arrived yesterday, but was in a huge cardboard box with no packing around it so could slide about inside. When I took the polythene off it I saw the corner was broken, so it will have to go back!! :-(

OH has just started his zoom meeting. Honestly he is so loud I'm sure he still thinks he is addressing a room of 100 people!! lol.

Well I'd best get some more of my painting done now.

It was an excellent meeting. fifteen of us and we started with a talk by one of the family owners of Wallsworth Hall. He was an excellent speaker and obviously loves the Hall and all they are doing there. The current leader of our group is a volunteer gardener there so she was able to lead us round the grounds. Since I was last there about 4 years ago there are a lot more sculptures in the grounds and, of course while some of the paintings, such as those by David Shepherd and Peter Scott are permanent exhibits, there were some new ones. there were two rooms devoted to tree paintings. I have to admit my favourites were those that actually looked like trees or parts of trees, not too keen on modern representation but each t their own

The house itself is interesting having been built around 1740 on the site of a timber house from the Tudor period by Samuel Hayward, a local business man, landowner and magistrate as a wedding present for his wife.Catherine. (some present it is huge and we obly get to see a small part of it.

I took quite a lot of photos so will see what they are like and send them later. We had a good look round the garden spending a while watching a nest of baby Moorhens, chatting to each other and admiring the flowers and sculptures. Unfortunately there was no artist in residence but there was still a lot to see. We sat of tables for four for coffee and lunch and I had jacket with prawns. It was fine, not the best jacket with prawns I have had the sauce for the prawns was very watery but it was nicely presented and 15 is a lot to cater for, even if it was all pre-booked.

I was picked up at 10.40 and was home at 2pm so a good day out.

Annx Report 17 May 2022 10:46

Morning All,

I slept quite well too and we made an early trip to the farm shop to get stocked up. The sun is out here and it is 16 degrees now so a bit cooler than in the south at the moment.

Sounds like it was an interesting talk Vera with slides to see as well. I hope you find the new chiropody place without much trouble and have a nice chat with your friends later.

AnnG I must look that place up as it sounds interesting and at a nice place too. You have a lovely day for it at the moment too.

That's good your arm is a bit better Mel, it sounded like a horrid pain and if it was like sciatica maybe it was a trapped nerve. Perhaps you could put something out for them to rest the crates on to reduce the lifting and bending today. I've used an upturned laundry basket in the kitchen to save some of the bending.

SuffolkVera Report 17 May 2022 08:41

Good morning AnnG and all

It’s going to be a very warm day. It’s already 17 degrees and it’s supposed to reach 23 this afternoon.

I hope everyone had a good night. I slept better last night though I kept waking up because I was hot. At least I don’t feel so droopy this morning. I hope your shoulder didn’t keep you awake Mel and is less painful today.

Enjoy your trip out today AnnG. It sounds an interesting place. The club we go to has something like 26 or 28 members, plus there will be a speaker and sometimes they will bring their OHs. Whoever is doing the coffee only has to bring fresh milk. With Covid closures I haven’t done it for about 3 years and couldn’t remember whether the biscuits are provided so I took some as well but I needn’t have done.

The speaker was good. We’ve had him a couple of times before. He’s single with no family and spends all his money on travel and arranges talks around his travels. Last night he was talking about China which he visited in1995 and again just before Covid so he talked on the differences in the country between his 2 visits. He’s a good photographer so has plenty of slides to illustrate his talks. It was a good evening.

I must get a wriggle on. I’ve got a chiropody appointment this morning and have to find where her new premises are and I have friends coming for a cup of tea and chat this afternoon.

Enjoy your day whatever you are doing.

good morning all 13 degrees here, dry so far but cloudy/bright. It is a U3a garden visits group visit today. This time only a few miles from here at Nature in Art I have been there several times but hopefully they will have a new photographic exhibition on. We also have a talk and a visit to see the artist in residence. I am being picked up at 10.40

It has a website.
Nature in Art is a museum and art gallery at Wallsworth Hall, Twigworth, Gloucester, England, dedicated exclusively to art inspired by nature in all forms, styles and media. The museum has twice been specially commended in the National Heritage Museum of the Year Award

Mel, I hope your shoulder has improved. Have you put Ibruleve on it, or any other similar cream?

Vera hope the club meeting went well and the raffle prizes well accepted. How many members in the club?
