It didn't get that warm here today AnnG but we did get some sunshine. You are doing well with getting all your things pruned and under control again.

I had to ring the hospital again after lunch and then leave a message after being 14th in a queue. We had just got our coats on and I'd stepped outside when OH heard the phone. (they had my mobile no as well). It seems this is a slightly different test that doesn't need the acid this time, so after me panicking it turns out I can start it tomorrow morning. It was the consultant saying I needed to repeat the test that made me think it should be the same as the last one. I have to sit something on the toilet lid so I don't forget and lift it! We called at the chemist for the rest of our prescription but they still don't have one of my items which isn't urgent anyway, but said it may not be in till Friday.

OH has been writing notes and I have got on with my painting, but it isn't coming on very well at the moment. I'm out of practice! I only have tomorrow to finish it and the new freezer is coming from Appliances Direct tomorrow. I will have to deal with it as OH has zoom things and a seminar, so most of the day taken up. It's going to be a tight fit for the men to get it in the garage and slip it iinto position between the other one and the wall, but I measured again today and it should go in ok if they are careful. They've been very good and sent me an afternoon time slot today and the driver will ring half an hour before they deliver. Any problem with the delivery they say to ring before the driver goes and before you sign anything. I bought all of my kitchen appliances from them online in 2008.

Evening all,

Been quite a nice day here little bit of cloud now and again but mostly sunny.

Colin has been painting the bird table for the school and he said he might make them a hedgehog box depends on what wood he can find in his shed .

Ann thats a nuisance having to go back to the hospital for another sample bottle you'd think they would check these before they give out as to whether they have the right stuff in them , hope you got it sorted .

Mel hope you've got OH's tablets sorted now for him I should think he was beginning to feel the effect of not taking them if he's missed three days of tablets .

Anng I think my beans took about nearly the week before they peeped through ,now they are quite tall I have planted some out and I wrapped some polythene round them as I read they don't like the wind and cold .

Vera hope that nasty migraine has eased now ,enjoy the cinema tomorrow, they have been advertising the new Downton Abbey film a lot lately and it does look good .

I have been sewing again ,I've made two little Owl Door stops and a playing card holder which I think will be handy for Lewis as when we play card games he has trouble holding all his cards so this will help him .

17 degrees here but not really sunny sort of bright haze. I walked down this morning to the charity lady with 6 books I have read and a few other bits. Then I did about 15 minutes pottering in the garden. and just now I cam in after spending an hour out there cutting stuff back and filling the brown bin which will be emptied tomorrow. I was gettin some honeysuckle cut back as it is growing over the greenhouse, quite good for shade in hot sun but at the moment it makes it too dark

No sign of my Cobra beans growing yet, they are in the conservatory although when it turned a bit cold they were on the kitchen window sill.

Afternoon All,

It's 11 degrees here and it was raining steadily earlier but has stopped again now. At least we were sure the windowcleaner wouldn't be coming. We are supposed to be getting a mini heatwave with temperatures starting to go up on Thursday, so hopefully I can get my other wallpots ready to go up then.

I rang the eye hospital this morning so that's sorted and then rang the city hospital about this sample bottle. At 8.30am there was a phone queue of 12 but I eventually got put through to one of the secretaries who said she would have to speak to one of the nurses and ring me back as to whether I need to go and fetch another sample bottle. Still no call yet. :-( We need to collect the rest of our scripts later and I wanted to do a walk, but need to know if we need to go back to the hospital first.

That is shocking that your OH has been left without 3 of his tablets over the Bank Holiday Mel. Could you explain what's happened to the surgery and ask the doctor to bring his prescription forward a few days or a week, so you will have some in hand each time in case it happens again? You don't need this worry all the time and it can't be good for your OH to be without tablets he is supposed to take.

It's a shame you get these awful migraines Vera. They do leave you drained and worn out as you say. At least at our ages we don't have to get up and struggle into work anymore. OH was hinting about seeing the same film at the cinema the other day but I didn't comment. We always went in the daytime when it was really quiet before the pandemic, but I wondered with people working at home now whether it would be busier. Please let us know what precautions are still in place if any, and whether the film was good.

Her birthday would have been in April, but my grandmother would be 145 now, and was more the age of a great grandmother! Dad's mum would be 143. My parents were both the youngest of large families. My oldest Uncle would have been 122 now. My grandmother was a very patient, kind lady which is amazing really, as by the time I was born she already had another 33 grandchildren. I only ever met 2 of them though, one was when I was in my 40s. Her primitive, tiny house was so unlike mum and dads and everything was very old fashioned, dark and victorian. It was lit with gas lamps that popped and scared me as she wouldn't have the electric. We took candles to bed when I stayed sometimes and the radio ran off a car battery. She cooked on a huge, black leaded grate and oven with a fancy, wide brass fender around it that I would clean and had a built in copper in the kitchen and still used the corrugated dolly tub and dolly, a washboard thing for scrubbing the clothes on (like the skiffle groups had in the 60s!) and a mangle that I would be supervised in using.

I'm rambling down memory lane now so better stop. I wonder if/when the hospital will ring?

Shoppings just arrived. I was in the garden sorting out some pots when he came. :Lots of subs but only two that needed to go back the others were acceptable.

Been sweeping down by the bantam and oh has moved a bench thing he made for the hedgehog house when I first had Hogwart in the first year. He made it into a potting type bench and did the hostas on it one year. He now wants it off the decking by myond so he is going to put it down by my strawberries on the old barrow and I can use it to put some of my plants on as it has a nice big soak tray on the top.

Got a nice backache from sweeping and bend over pots and now I am going to start cleaning the shopping.

Good morning all It is a bit foggy here at the moment forecast said it would clear but they don't live in our valley, who knows if it will or not.
I have to phone the dentist and cancel an appointment for tomorrow, my changed hair appointment has clashed with it, but anyway, I am still coughing a bit so feel I should not take that to the dentist. I can wear a mask in the hairdressers.

Sorry about the migraine Vera they are the bane of your life aren't they, I hope you improve over today. I loved your not doing much of doing three loads of washing and potting on some seeds.

Ann I bet it was good to have a paintbrush in your hand again.

The forecast here for a couple of weeks is warm weather, not always sunny but warm, no mention of frosts so I might look at some of the plants that are destined for being in the borders.

Morning all,

Not a very nice morning here but will have to see how it is a bit later on as its only early yet. Pc says mostly sunny and 8 degrees.

I have to chase out scripts today as oh has been out of three of his all over the holiday. I just wish they could get it right.

It was my fault I should havce said about it being the threads birthday.

Vera I do hope you sleep better tonight and enjoy the film tomorrow and the lunch with your friends. Cheese bisciuts and choc chip cookies sound very nice and are makiing my mouth water.

We had the beef again tonight with chips and peas so nice and easy.

I spent the whole afternoon cleaning up the plants on the patio but most of them are done now. I seem to have lost the Rosemary though again. This is about the fourth plant I have bought and not got in the ground.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 2 May 2022 21:12

I thought you meant your anniversary too Mel. The thread’s been going a long while and, with luck, will go on for a lot longer.

Some of your aches and problems probably are down to Covid AnnG. I’ve heard that it can leave you very tired for a while. I hope you keep improving.

I had a bad migraine starting yesterday afternoon and keeping me awake and in pain all night. I eventually dosed off at around 6 am and slept fitfully till 10. The migraine has gone but I’ve felt like a wet rag all day and haven’t been able to eat much. I managed to do 3 loads of washing which OH hung out for me and I potted up more seedlings but that’s all I’ve managed to do today.

I’m going to be very brave (or foolhardy) tomorrow and venture to the cinema. I haven’t been in a theatre or cinema since before the pandemic. I’ll have masks and sanitiser with me and will be careful but I feel now restrictions are lifted anyway there’s no point in leading an isolated life unless you are specially vulnerable. It was a friend’s birthday yesterday and so 2 of us are taking her to a restaurant she likes for an early lunch and then taking her to see the new Downton Abbey film.

I think I am going to bed now. I’ll read for a little while and then try to catch up on some sleep. I hope you all have a good night.

EDIT. I forgot to say Ann that our neighbour is still bringing us goodies that he has cooked but it’s not a regular Monday thing any more. We didn’t have anything for a couple of weeks, then last week we got cheese biscuits on Monday and choc chip cookies on Thursday. Very moreish ;-)

Annx Report 2 May 2022 20:24

Mel you had us going there! lol. I can't believe the thread has been going that long! :-0

Yes AnnG, we have been blaming everything on covid since we had it! lol.

Well I got some paint on the paper and it needs to dry well before I do some more tomorrow. I hate this ugly stage when there's no detail or refinement, but fingers crossed it will come right over the next 2 days.

I wonder if Vera is still getting those nice cakes her neighbour does over zoom with his grandchildren. I have a hankering for some cake as I haven't had any since Christmas. I might have some Jusrol in the freezer so will look tomorrow as I have had it a while if there is. I wonder if it's puff or shortcrust? Either way I could do fruit puffs or some jam or some lemon curd tarts.

We have to be up early tomorrow in case the windowcleaner comes so I'd better sort his money out.

AnninGlos Report 2 May 2022 20:00

Ah you just said anniversary not of what.

Ann the ache is much better today but I expect it is Covid related. I guess I can blame everything on Covid for a while. Interesting about your friends though so maybe I was lucky to have had the jab. I was more worried s out daughter as sg
He is clased as vulnerable because if her diabeties but has not yet been called for the booster. Still she had it about the same as me.

Not our asnniversary the THREADS.

Ours is Aug 2nd and it will be 25 years this year.

Annx

Annx Report 2 May 2022 16:52

It could be the after effects of covid AnnG. Certainly the tiredness is as other friends who have had it told me they were tired for weeks after and we were too. We also had odd aches and pains so that might be affecting you too. The latest couple who had it that are friends of mine both had it together. She is in her 50s and he is mid 70s like me. He had had his 4th jab, but she was too young so hadn't and she was much more poorly and took to her bed which is not like her at all. We just don't know how we would be without our jabs. Yes I think I will stick to walking there in the mornings when there are oldies are exercising their dogs! :-) I think the changes they have made to the park means it will go downhill. I don't think many knew about it till the lockdown as there is another bigger park at the other end of the same village. Our doctors surgery is in the same village which is not a run down village at all, but the other night we read of a cannabis farm that had been started at an old corner shop building that had been empty for a while and is only a 5 minute walk from the doctors' surgery.

It's not like you to forget your anniversary and the lovely flowers you get Mel. I have been enjoying the programme about the tiny makes for the doll's house. We drew he curtains and had the light off after a few minutes of Gentleman Jack.

My mum would have been 95 today.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 May 2022 14:30

Ann its still a bit too dark on our big telly. Sometimes I turn the big lights out and have just a lamp on behind me but it is still too dark in some things so its not your eyes unless its mine too. I am having a bit of trouble with my left eye and can't see things close up when I am painting something little.

I have done a little bit of craft this morning. Washed up as oh is fitting a new pump to my pond, and cleaned the toilet cystern out in my little loo. When we had the water leak it was putting muddy water in the tank and it keep coming down into the cisterns so thats why I have to do it.

Had a broken egg again this morning and one whole one. Emm did'nt get any eggs this week as we seem to have been using a lot lately.

I keep forgetting the great big tiny challenge on a Sunday but I shall watch it later in the week when nothing else is on to watch and that happens a lot lately.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 2 May 2022 14:28

No Ann the pain is across the back/towards my shoulder, it is easier today, maybe it was something I did in the garden and it stiffened up. It is over four weeks since I had the jab now so no aches from that. Judging by others who have had covid without having had the booster, I can't see that I was any better off for having had it. Still I suppose I won't know how I would have been without it. Still very easily tired. I did hald an hour weeding of the front garden and came in shattered.

Yes I can see how a large group would be intimidating, best to stay away.

Annx

Annx Report 2 May 2022 13:43

Afternoon All,

I bit brighter this morning and 14 degrees here now. Lunch was some nice pork chops from the farm shop with onions, homemade apple sauce, broc, cauli, beans and carrots. Yum!

How lovely the cygnets have started hatching Gwyn! I bet they do bring a smile to the faces of passers by too. You will have to keep us updated.

Is the shoulder pain from the jab AnnG? It is a nuisance if it is still waking you in the night. The extra pillow should help, but we move around in our sleep and not always to the best position for an ache! I hope your daughter and SIL enjoy their river trip. They were lucky to get covid out of the way first like Gwyn says. We have looked at some of the euriope river cruises in the past but never got round to trying one. Now you have a trip to see the poppies in July to look forward to

OH has put some bean poles up in the big tub, but the ground is still so hard, even after the sprinkle of rain yesterday, so he couldn't put another wigwam up next to it on the garden.

I wonder where your runners have got to Mel? I've just about got into Gentleman Jack again. We watched it together last night , but I did say I would watch it elsewhere if there were interruptions, so he didn't! The filming does seem very dark for it unless it's my eyes, but it was better on the bigger tv.

OH isn't going to a match today as they will have more fans watching and I'm not doing a walk today. I did do 1 lap of the usual walk after teatime yesterday, but there was a noisy group of hoodies at one of the picnic tables with plenty of cans and hardly anyone else there and others were joining them so I felt a bit intimidated.

Now to get my paintbrushes wet and get started!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 2 May 2022 11:04

Gwyn yes it was lucky, too close for comfort. Daughter has done both river trips before on the Rhine and the Danube but son in law has never done it (neither have I, another wish lost!). Seems like their flight left on time too, they were a bit concerned because there was a last minute change of airline from Jet2 to Ryanair. They were informed last week.
