AnnG, .. That's good that you have now tested negative. It will give you the freedom to go out and about as you wish or to share coffee time with friends. I hope your daughter and her husband enjoy their holiday... a lovely time of year for that trip. How lucky that the timing of their illness and recovery still made that possible.

No Mel her husband is with her.
I tested negative this morning so I am a free person now. It says it is 12 degrees out there but it doesn't look like gardening weather, quite dull.
I am going to my son's for a week in July and am excited because he has booked for him, my daughter in law and me to go by train to London to see the flowers in the moat of the tower.

I think Covid restrictions lockdowns etc have affected our sleep pattern Gwyn. But I know what you mean over thinking problems during waking hours in the night why do problems always seem worse at night?
I bet it is so lovely to see the cygnets.

Afternoon everyone.....just literally a few drops of rain in the air, but I could count the spots landing on my coat..........Milder without the cold easterly wind of late.
Some days I seem to have no get-up-and-go and everything seems an effort. Where I live though, I am fortunate that there are pleasant places to walk without having to go too far, so I can take myself off and more often than not, I see something which gives me a 'lift' and brightens the day. I have just come back from a walk to see the local swans. 3 little cygnets have now hatched and some other walkers and I waited patiently hoping the mother would reshuffle so we could see if there were any more. I think there are 3 eggs still in the nest and one looked as if it had a weakened area of shell, so maybe there will be more in the next day or so. Seeing them cheers everyone who walks nearby, - from young teens to aged pensioners, they all love to see their progress.
I hope everyone has a restful night. My sleep pattern is very erratic, but I have decided to not let it bother me. I don't drive, so don't have to worry about the safety aspect and I'm not in pain, so if I miss an hour or so in the night, I try not to dwell on it and just go with the flow and hopefully catch up the next day. The trouble is in the small hours, if I start thinking about something, my mind goes into over-drive and I stay awake thinking everything through having had enough sleep to keep me going..... but not to see me through the next day.
Gardening tomorrow, weather permitting.

Funny enough Ann I think I felt brighter yesterday. today I have got an ache across my shoulder, I think it may be trying to sleep on three pillows. May have to see if I can do without the extra one tonight. Mel I just made one card, a very basic one but I couldn't really get into it. the spirit was willing the flesh not so.
Vera nice to have a hcat with your friends and lucky it was warm enough in the garden.

Morning/ oops! Afternoon All,
Slept well again and we have had the nice steady rain too but it's stopped again now. Pity I had a pile of washing to go out though! :-( It's 10 degrees here now. I tried digging holes for plants with my trowel yesterday but gave up as, like Mel says, the soil was so hard. Ours isn't clay soil and is usually easy to work, but it had been so dry for ages it was hard, so the rain will do it good. It will make weeding easier too.
Mandy what a lovely little bag and ideal for holding a ball of wool while you knit or crochet as you say, as it fits nicely over the arm with no room for the wool to jump out. It's a pretty material too. I keep meaning to make a needle case out of my fat quarters or felt squares, so I must look them out. So you got the poles sorted and your little greenhouse secured. I expect the conservatory has been emptied of the plants to go inside it now. My greenhouse has a nasty draught from a pane that slipped at the back of it. We used to have 2 butts at the back in the middle, but because the pipes to the gutters kept dislodging OH decided to move them apart so the pipes between them and the gutters would be shorter. That was fine except the butts block the space between the greenhouse and fence so there's no room to squeeze by them to put the pane back in place now. Once we've used the water in one we will have to move it to sort the pane out.
I bet you feel brighter with a better night's sleep AnnG. Maybe the cough is going at last. Good idea to do some cards today. I must get my paints out as the days seem to be flying by and I haven't started yet. That was good that you had no subs.
I can just imagine the cats while you tried to knit Vera......too tempting for them! You had a nice little walk too then and a COT and natter in the garden with your friend. I love lemon cheesecake and must remember to try cutting it up when it is frozen, not that it lasts very long anyway.
We ordered lunch today and had something different for a change. It was nice although it sounds an odd mixture. Two chicken breasts (small) with melted mozzarella in a tomato sauce, corn on the cob, breadcrumbed mushrooms, a jacket potato, coleslaw and small salad.
I was just reading the notes on my prescription and the only way to get our prescriptions now is to call in or order online. They won't accept requests by pharmacies on behalf of patients, in addition to the usual no phone requests.
I need to ring the hospital before I do this urine test as the bottle is dry and empty. The last one had a few spoonfuls of an acid preservative and I think the nurse has forgotten to add it. It mentions acid on the label so I'm sure it should contain some as the doctor said it is the same test as before. It will mean me going back I expect and OH driving round to park somewhere while he waits for me again as the hospital charges are so much. If I hadn't already done one test I wouldn't have known anything was missing and had to do it all over again.

Well I have got ready cook beef ribs which I have had before and are quite tasty together with roast potatoes and carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, leeks and sprouts and asparagus. The sprouts were supposed to be bay sprouts but I wonder what the full size sprouts are like - small cabbages I reckon. :-D

I'm cooking beef too Vera. I hav'nt cooked it since Christmas and had instructions on that piece but there's no oven heat on this one. Oh like it medium rare so I shall just broown it off and bung it in the oven for the alloted time on 180c. Iv'e done all the veg and pud so you'll know what I am doing today. It always takes me longer than I think.

Could you send some rain this way please? All we get is grey, grey and more grey. I’ve just watered a few pots where everything was beginning to droop and I expect OH will get the hose out tonight.
That’s a sweet little wrist bag Mandy. I could have done with something like that when I used to knit and I'd have to fight the cats for the ball of wool.
That does look a nice walk Ann. It’s good that your knees are letting you walk a bit. We walked to a friend’s house yesterday afternoon just to put a birthday card through the letterbox but she saw us coming and invited us into her garden for a cup of tea. There was no sun but her garden is very sheltered and it was quite warm so we spent a very pleasant hour there.
We’re having beef today. It’s not my favourite but OH likes it so I’m spoiling him. I’m pot roasting it with a good slurp of his red wine in the gravy. We’re following it with a lemon cheesecake I make that everyone seems to like. I had one in the freezer that’s been there for a long while but would serve about 8. I decided to try cutting it in half while it was frozen and put half back in the freezer. I expected it to break or fall to bits but to my surprise it came into two perfect pieces.
Well, I’ve just time for a shower before I need to do anything else with dinner. Enjoy your day whatever the weather where you are.

Some well earned ret lst night then Anng. Perhaps the cough is on its way now. Enjoy your card making today.
Its quite cold out there and its steady rain too. The pc is telling its raining doh as if I did'nt know. It looks like it iis in for the day over us Anng and its only 11 degrees out there but feels colder. Theres no wind so its falling straight down and steady light rain so the gardens should get a good watering today.

Good morning all.And it is actually raining which I am pleased about because the garden really did need it. I don't think there has been rain here for over three weeks.
I slept quite well last night, woke a few times but no coughing thank goodness. Nothing much to do today so maybe some card making, it is a while since I did any
Tesco this morning but that is not a large order, no subs and nothing unavailable this week. There were quite a few things unavailable on the lists when ordering but I had no problem finding substitutes.

Morning all on the first day of May.
Don't know where this year is going but here we are now in the fifth month of the year and now not long till Christmas! It only feels like the year has just started to me not nearly half way through.
It started raining lightly last night and its still raining this morning but its only that light stuff but the ground needs it. All the trees are coming into leaf and buds appearing on the flowers. Spring has well and truely sprung down here now.
Hope you all managed enough sleep last night. I went at 12am which is early for me but I could'nt keep my eyes open, put it down to a nice bottle of Merlot we shared and the gardening of course.
Well I don't think I am having much luck with runners this year so I better sow some short beans. I saved a lot of seed from the long beans last year but do you think I cna find where I put them? NO.

Well the greenhouse is up and anchored down in case the wind gets up ,last year it got turned over with the wind and my plants got knocked off the shelf. It was really warm out there today in the sunshine we started off with jackets on but had to take them off ,now it's turned chilly so we have just lit the fire .
This afternoon I made a sweet little bag that I'd seen on u tube if you want it can go over your wrist and hold a ball of wool when you'd knitting so your wool doesn't drop on the floor and it's handy if you take your knitting outside to do I'm quite pleased with how it's turned out, I might make one for my sister as she likes to knit too but it can be used for other things too.
