Afternoon All,
Sunny and 12 degrees here now but there’s still quite a breeze so it feels chilly.
Exactly Vera! I do the same and we laugh as he is the first to admit his shortcomings and he will be the first to tell others to make them laugh too, including the things I do. I showed him the response and his reaction was ‘good grief, how rude.’ He did laugh at the nonsense idea that he might need some slack cutting. He prefers his interests in other areas, helps in ways he can, but eg. has no intention of achieving green finger status, or any other status he’s not that interested in, no matter how much it might surprise me.
I find some of your posts strange too Island. I worked out the one about my OH’s photo, but why don’t you just say what you mean?
That sounds like a good plan for coming home AnnG. Fingers crossed you and daughter will still be ok by then. I bet you will be glad to be home now and will be surprised how much things have grown while you were away. The art course starts late next week, thankfully after my appointments, so I should be able to concentrate. I was interested to watch a recorded programme with the artist Grayson Perry the other night and he said each time he starts a new project he wonders if he can still do it! I know just what he meant! I bought my second lot of Cobra beans on Ebay. They are growing well and are about 3 inches high and look healthy.
Lewis seems to like gardening Mandy as he went with his dad to the school to help out with the garden as well didn’t he. I was going to start hardening off the runners, but saw the weather forecast too and decided to keep them under cover till the cold has gone again.
I must make sure my 3 tiny tomato plants survive as I read today that a few supermarkets are predicting shortages of them in the near future.

Thanks for the name are they only available from premier? That is good to know Island so I have time to plant some seeds when I get home.
We think we will be ok to travel home on Sunday so daughter will not stay the promised three nights so she can get back for he hair appointment on Tuesday but we will decide for sure later. Actually if we followed the latest guide lines we could go home now without S.i.L b bothering to take another test.
Island it is supposed to be sunny here this afternoon but I think we are under the same blanket as you wish it was a warmer one.
Ann when does your next course start.

Morning. The sun's still under the blanket here, getting up around 2 apparently'
Anng, it was probably me raving about climbing French beans last year. it was quite a revelation not to have to bend to pick and they were so generous. Same as Mandy, they are called Cobra, it's the only one Premier have but there must be other 'makes'. 99p and about the same for postage, you do get rather a lot though!
Looking at my chart from last year, I sowed all my veg seeds in pots from the end of April to mid May so I'm a bit early this year. I think I average 15th April depending on how cold/warm it is outside.

Good morning all. Slept well again last night and hope you all did too.
Looks like a very different day out there, very grey and windy. So another day indoors SiL has decided to preserve the few tests they have left and wait until tomorrow before testing again. Good job I packed my kindle as well as five books.
My thoughts afd turning to my garden. Somebody last year grewdwark French beans I think, or were they some other sort. I could trawl ba k but if anyone can remember what they sere I might try and get some and try them. I have carrots for containers to sew when I get back might try a few other things.. decisions decisions.

Island, haven’t you realised that much of what we write about our OHs is tongue in cheek and said in affection? I can’t speak for the others but I usually read out to mine what I have written about him and other’s responses and we have a laugh together.. in fact, mine is laughing now.

My comments really aren't difficult to understand Mel. TBH I don't see you slating your man on here, just talking about housework, chucks and the BIG wipe down. I guess posts revolve around not very much since lockdown?
Do you see me moan about my man? Do you see me moan about anyone? No.
What else haven't you understood Mel?

Sometimes I don't understand your comments Island.
On here we are only having a moan about our men and there's no real grievance of them and I expect all the ladies also annoy the men with some of the things we do. I know I do to mine........

'That's very true we have someone to share the work AnnG, "although they sometimes create it too!" Who are 'they' you refer too? Don't assume that other men are as 'allegedly' clueless as yours. Cut him some slack, he might surprise you.

Afternoon All,
It's 16 degrees here so cooler and we were up and out by 8.30am to get fuel and call at the farm shop at opening time. We stocked up with fruit, veg and meat so I won't need much on my Asda order at the weekend, which is just as well being 1 freezer down so less space.
My knee is much better today so I shall do the walk about 4.00pm when the carpark will be almost empty and OH will be joining an online seminar. Vera it takes me half an hour to do my 2 laps which I reckon is just under a mile. It slopes gently uphill one way and downhill the other side. I understand the 'old biddy' feeling as attempts to do more sets me back at the moment and it's the same trying to do too much around the house. Before the pandemic friends stopped asking me to go out with them as I had to keep saying no as I couldn't manage all the walking. It can be quite upsetting and isolating. Walking was a big part of our holidays in the past and I've walked up Snowdon and back down and we would do published walks in the local paper each week, so it's very frustrating too. Having your hair cut and seeing your friend after will make you feel better.
I bet you are pleased you have the new cover sorted on your little greenhouse Mel. It will be good for your plants if we get this promised cold spell soon. How are last years babies in your pond? Are they showing colour now?
That's very true we have someone to share the work AnnG, although they sometimes create it too! It is good you have someone to look after things while you are away as we don't and have to hope for the best! It is odd that Gill isn't picking up any messages or emails. I hope she is ok too.

Mel if you have her phone number a text may be a good idea. I have now tried emailing her but I am wondering if she has a computer problem do a text on her phone may be the answer.
Vera, just keep an eye on the would be head gardener. At least you all have somebody to share the work, although maybe my do if myself is better I am not sure. Yes. Unthinkable will water my greenhouse and yesterday she gave my dead looking fuchsias in the plastic tomato house a water and also the wild flowers she potted growing. She also let the window cleaners In Round the back. I don’t know where I would be without her.
Not good that you are so tired, not sure if you have but have you seen the doctor about this? Maybe you are low on iron.

Another bright day here but a little bit cooler I think.
Thank you all for the various photos. It looks as though you have a very pleasant area for your walks AnnG. I hope sil tests negative soon and you and daughter manage to stay negative. Will your neighbour do a bit of watering for you if it’s needed?
Mandy, that bird house has definitely seen better days. The school will be glad to get a replacement and Colin is good to make one for them.
I smiled at your under gardener Ann. He looks so intent on his task. I have an under gardener as well but mine thinks he’s head gardener and if I don’t keep a close eye on him I find all my favourites have been dug up and all the colour gone while he has filled the garden with big green things. He’s on a final warning, one more infringement and he’ll be getting the sack, lol.
You sound as though you have been very busy Mel. I hope your OH is making a good recovery now.
Yesterday I had to pick up my meds from the pharmacy and go to the bank. OH decided to come with me and as it was such a nice day he suggested a little walk around. I came back so depressed. I am so tired all the time that I can hardly drag my legs around. It took 40 minutes to walk barely a mile and I had to stop twice en route for a couple of minutes rest. OH is wondering if I have had Covid without realizing it but I have tested so frequently and it has always come up negative so I don’t think it can be that. It’s very frustrating that I seem to have turned in a matter of weeks from an active person considered young for my age to a doddery old biddy. Oh well, there are lots of people worse off than me and I do have a lot to be thankful for.
It's good hearing how your swans are doing Gwyn. I remember them from last year. I want to go and see ours but at the moment I think it is a little bit too far for me to walk there and back.
This afternoon I am having my hair cut. I have an acquaintance who has been trying for a while to get me to go to her house for a cuppa. She lives near the hairdresser so I have agreed to go and see her after my haircut.
It is a little worrying that Gill hasn’t opened your pm AnnG. I was going to pm her this week myself and send birthday greetings to Sandra but there is no point if she isn’t reading her messages. I assume none of you have had a response to any of the photos that have been emailed round but if the emails haven’t bounced back she presumably still has an internet connection. Fingers crossed that everything is OK with her.
I had better get on and sort out some lunch as I need to leave by 1.30. Make the most of the good weather and enjoy the rest of your day everyone.

Morning Anng and all,
Bright sunny morning here so far but the sky is a bit hazey with thin white cloud.
I did lots yesterday but lost that post so gave up.
We put the new cover on the little greenhouse yesterday with a lot of huffing and puffing he managed to screw it down to the decking. I think this cover may outlast the frame as it is starting to go rusty.
Got the washing dry and in and aired in the uti room. Lots of other bits and pieces too.
Today I think I will finish off the strawberries and get them all back on their barrow and scrape some more of the muck from my pond off the grass. I may even see if he will put the fence back up for me as I got the smallest bit up but it needs screws.
Hope SIL tests clear soon Anng and you can go home to all your little plants to tend them.

Good morning all. Sunny again so hopefully another day like yesterday. I sat out in the sun reading in the afternoon while daughter strummed the edges of the lawn (no matter what I do it insists on shanking that word to strummed). And son in law mowed the lawn. He is definitely better. But needs a neg test now.
Island pleased I guessed right.
