Mandy, If you look at the photo I sent of the picture of the jigsaw, the main piece to do is the whole of the dog's face. I have two large trays full of all the likely pieces of the dogs face which are all very similar and another of the peripheral bits which are all similar except for a few red one which will be for the last poppy which is more of less central. It would take all day to try individual pieces in one spot. Yes this is what I normally do but on a smaller scale, At the moment it is more finding a piece to lead me in to a group of pieces.

Good morning all, very foggy here at the moment. Pleased that I don't have to go out.

Evening all,

It's only been 13 degrees here today ,sunny but really chilly in the shade with the breeze
Son and dil came to pick Lacey up and brought me some nice pressies and a card for mothers day.
I had a nice magnetic pad for shopping lists that will attach to the fridge ,a smelly candle and a nice little arrangement of flowers in a long tub .
We haven't done a thing this afternoon oh yes I did I potted my cucumbers up into pots as they had got quite leggy in the trays I put them in we're always tired after the children come plus we lost an hour with putting the clocks forward.

Anng I find if we get stuck with the jigsaw I try one piece at a time in one spot until I find the piece that fits then I do it all again in the next spot ,we finished ours with the dogs and have started another one which has a lot of green as it's a picture of an allotment, we swapped some of our jigsaws with dil's mum and dad and this one is one of theirs, not sure if we'll finish it as we're now doing more in the garden .

Ann you might both still be feeling the effects of covid I know when son and dil had it they took a while to get back into things but I think I would have been the other strain they had so different effects maybe.

Lacey thought it was fun cutting the bottoms of the cardboard loo roll tubes to make little pots for the beans to go in in a few weeks we've been saving them since before Christmas so there was quite a few to cut and fold ,I did that last year and it worked well and saved using pots and they just rotted in the ground .

Those aches are strange aren’t that Ann several people here have had Covid but not mentioned that side effect. So far I don’t seem to have any side effects from the booster.

I had another short stint at the jigsaw and managed eventually to put four pieces in but gosh it is a real slog.. I actually have not done much today except the Tesco shop.Just two subs both were acceptable replacements of similar things. Plus a friend called in this morning for a catch up so that was two hours gone.
It has been sunny and cloudy and quite a chilly feel when the cloud came over

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 27 Mar 2022 17:20

It's similar here Ann; sunny after a cloudy morning and about 13 degrees though there is a real nip in the breeze again. That's a lot of subs in one order. Your mention of prices going up reminded me that I want to get some stamps in the next few days before they go up again. I'm sorry you are both so achey and your knees are puffy. It will be interesting to find out if they are after effects of Covid.

I haven't done a jigsaw for years AnnG but I remember that they can be very frustrating, particularly when so many pieces all look the same. Think what a sense of achievement you'll get when you do finish it.

I am feeling quite headachey at the moment and can't stop yawning but I know it's because I have had a week of bad nights. I know if I lay down now I would go to sleep but then I won't sleep tonight so I am trying to stay awake.

OH spent all yesterday afternoon splitting up some hostas in pots that are far too big now. He wants some more big pots and so after the gas man has been tomorrow we are going to a garden centre. OH wanted to go yesterday but I said that as it was the weekend and a beautiful day it might be crowded. I thought Monday would be a less busy day.

I'm not sure what I have done all day today. I cooked our normal Sunday roast dinner but otherwise I seem to have just faffed about and achieved nothing. I wandered round the garden thinking I ought to do something out here but just couldn't be bothered. My mojo has definitely gone AWOL and I hope it finds its way back soon.

We have new neighbours in our little Close. The elderly lady who lived in the end bungalow had to go into a home and she, with the help of her daughter, put the bungalow up for sale. They got a buyer very quickly and everything was proceeding well and had got to the signing of contracts stage when the old lady died. This meant the bungalow was still part of her estate and the sale had to be frozen until the daughter got probate which seems to have taken forever. Luckily the new buyers were prepared to wait and they moved in on Friday. I haven't seen them yet but they were on their drive when OH came back from a walk yesterday so he introduced himself. He said they seem pleasant and are much of an age with the rest of us so will probably fit in well.

Afternoon All,

It's up to 12 degrees here now and sunny after a dull start. Most of our clocks reset themselves but a few including the oven and car don't. Apart from clearing one of the window sills we are ready for the blind man now. I don't think there will be room for anything on the window sills with the vertical blinds so I will have to think where to put them.

Lunch came early and was very nice and now we are waiting for the food delivery. Very disappointing with 1 out of stock and 10 subs which were very poor on the whole. Ready to eat prunes replaced with raisins! Milk Chocolates replaced with plain chocolate ones, brussels replaced with a cauliflower when there was already cauliflower on the order etc. :-S

We have both been very achey the last day or two for no apparent reason and my knees are more puffy than usual and we thought it might be covid after effects. Come to think of it, a friend who had it a fortnight before us was saying how stiff she is every time she does anything now. I must ask if she is any better now.

Another bedroom window that the sun beats on needs the sealed units replacing now since last year so that's another job to get on with sorting before prices climb !!

That jigsaw is a real trial isn't it AnnG. You'll have to try every piece in the box in each position in the hope that something that looks unlikely will fit. I was reknitting some of my hat pattern last night as it didn't look right! lol. I don't like to be beaten, but it looks like I might be wearing it next winter now. :-D

Hubby said the roads were so busy yesterday, with queues in places. Even the match had a lot of spectators which he thought was because no premier matches were on. He still found a spot well away from everyone.

Better make sure there is space to do the wipedown now, but there won't be much to do.

17 degrees here and still sunny but a very chilly breezy wind.

Had lunch and am going to wash up and then go back to my craft as my back is still aching from the gardening the other day.

AnninGlos Report 27 Mar 2022 10:04

Well cloud came over and we soon lost the sun 7 degrees now but not tempted out into the garden yet.

It is not for want of trying Vera that I have not finished the jigsaw almost all the pieces left are grey, brown or cream in various shades with nothing to latch onto. I need a piece as a break through but it has not happened yet and most days I have tackled it.

Good morning everybody,

nice morning here today with plenty of the yellow stuff and a clear blue sky.

Think I will do as your going to do Vera and potter.

Morning AnnG and all

You just beat me to it this morning AnnG. Dull and cloudy here and the forecast for the week doesn’t mention sun at all. Go on, get that jigsaw finished ;-). I’ve no plans for the day so I expect I’ll just potter.

AnninGlos Report 27 Mar 2022 08:18

Good morning all. sunny here at the moment but only 3 degrees. Hope you all put your clocks forward. Nothing planned for today although I am sure I should be doing something in the garden and don't even mention the B jigsaw!!

Thank you for that Ann I will have a think around that idea.

Annx Report 26 Mar 2022 14:46

Done it again and lost my post! I wish they'd put the CTRL key at the top somewhere.

OH has gone to a match and I just have a small window to do now. I've put slug bait in the Hosta pots and given the ericaceous plants their feed and planted more seeds. A load of washing is dried and put away too.

Done the food order and thank you Mel as I hadn't even thought about Easter Sunday. I flipped forward through my diary and luckily with us only have a fortnightly delivery it falls each side of Easter this year. Phew!

It's good to have smaller baskets you can manage better AnnG. I must see if I can get some basket plants for our wall pots next week. I could nip out early on Monday now the blind man isn't coming till lunchtime. I see what you mean about hobby and interest photos. I'm sure your head is buzzing with ideas, but a still life of a little table set out with gardening things would look interesting. You could have a seed catalogue/magazine/ gardening book, also some seed packets on it, gardening gloves, a trowel and plantpot with soil in and a plant label pushed in and with others lying on the table. It could look quite colourful.

17 degrees here, no wind and too hot out in the garden working.

I have planted up all my baskets and that included the tumblers (two plants in one pot hope they both take as that means they were half price). I have also planted on another plant I bought into a bigger pot and emptied out the final old geranium basket of T's and put the basket in the bin. so now I have three smaller baskets of ivy geraniums.
sieved a lot of my home made compost and used that and filled a bowl ready to sieve the next lot. Greenhouse is pretty full now but I can make space by hanging some of the baskets up at the moment only one is hanging. friend is calling in at 3ish for a cup of tea. She is gardening as well

Also done a load of washing

Ann don't forget there's no delivery from Asda on Easter Sunday.

The winds picked up here and it makes it a bit chilly out there. Hav'nt done the shop yet!

Well hobbies and interests sounds an interesting subject Ann but it is deciding what sort of photos to take. It is actually a wide subject and being so can be confusing.

Annx Report 26 Mar 2022 10:10

Morning All,

I seem to be waking earlier and earlier, probably with my early bedtime lately. I was awake from 5.30 this morning and it was already quite light.

We both did the 1 lap walk yesterday and OH was surprised he was a bit out of puff. Mind you he talks all the time and I would be puffing if I did that as well. We only went slowly so as to help my knees but it is quite a slope up to the ice house.

I have now cleaned inside 2 of the 4 windows where new blinds will be fitted on Monday, but will do the others when the sun has moved around the back of the bungalow. I want to finish them today as the food drop is tomorrow and I need to be fresh for that. lol

Thank you Island and Mandy for reminding me about the good value seeds on line. I can't believe how many seeds are in some of the packets! :-D

Have you any plans for what you will be doing when Lacey comes Mandy and is the Elephant in progress or do you still need wool?

Vera your shrub, Hellebores and Chionodoxa look lovely. I didn't know you could get white Chionodoxa, but I have a nice clump of the pink ones I brought from my last house. There were blue ones in all the front garden borders but for some reason I never thought to bring any of those.

Your photography group photos sounded interesting AnnG and the next one for hobbies will be good and you will have some subjects for that one!

Were you stiff this morning after your efforts yesterday Mel? I don't know how you manage to keep your garden so nice considering the size. One of my friends on zoom yesterday, who lost her husband 2 years ago and has a big garden, has found herself a gardener to mow the lawns and help with the weeding. She did most of it herself, even when her husband was alive as he still suffered the effects of a stroke from when he was aged 45. She is in her 80s now.

Well I'd better get the Asda order finished next!

AnninGlos Report 26 Mar 2022 07:39

good morning all, you were just here before me Vera. It is beautiful out there again and 4 degrees. I think our weather is ok into the fist couple of days of next week. The trouble is, when it reverts to normal this time of year it is quite a shock I am in two minds whether to go to the library or not to see about my bus pass. I don't think I will actually as it is bound to be busy with children.

Good morning all

Another sunny day. We’d better make the most of it as it’s supposed to change from tomorrow. I have no plans for today so I’ll just take it as it comes.

Don’t forget to put the clocks forward tonight.
