Vera my sister is only about five minutes away ,we're one side of the town and she's the other ,we had a good catch up over coffee as we hadn't been together since there wedding anniversary party . So the gas man cometh and has to come again sounds hopeful that there will be no cost fingers crossed.
Ann was it a fat moth had he been having a good old chomp on something ;-) :-D Yes I thought the programme looked good when I saw it advertised.
We sat out this afternoon and had a rest as Lacey is coming tomorrow and she will want to do things and we always feel tired after the children have been .

Yikes! just touched the ctrl key and lost a post!
Good news about your boiler Vera, hopefully it will be a quick job on Monday.
We nearly gave up on our hearing tests after 25 mins past our appointment time and were just going to let them know when we were called in........computer glitches apparently and they did apologise. We both had normal hearing in our right ears, but mild loss in high tones in our left ears.......how odd we were both the same! Nowhere near needing hearing aids, but they will see us every year now instead of every 2 years.
The retail park building work means some new big stores have been added like T K Max, Waterstones and Flannels that I could see. While our immune systems have had the boost we intend to go early one morning and have a look around. The new stores have been built on the old Everards Brewery and HQ land.
I rang the Drs then to see if they had the results of my thyroid blood test as I hadn't heard after 3 weeks and they had and no need to change my medication.
I hope you enjoy your meeting AnnG and good that the windows got done before you went out.
Thanks for mentioning that programme Mandy. I enjoy things like that and will make sure I record it. I found a deceased moth on the bedroom carpet so I am hoping it was the only one! The knees are much better today after the rest yesterday thanks and we are shortly going to do the short walk! I hope you have a nice time at your sisters and have some nice cake! :-D
Mel you are getting stuck in in the garden. Must go for the walk now....OH is waiting!

18 degrees here now. Been in the garden all morning clearing the road down to the bantam and past my shed and cut down the chinese anemonie old stalk. Lots of new growth coming on those and the magnolia is in full bloom up onthe south facing wall on the border.
Oh has been pressure washing the decking and has taken my little greenhouse down and cleaned all the tray that sits in the bottom. Loads of flowers on the blueberries just about to burst.

Great minds Vera, waiting for window cleaner and knowing I leave here at 11.15 to walk to hairdressers. I was just thinking I should go and dead head the Tete a Tete dafs. I have dusted downstairs then wandered aimlessly around. Trying to think of other small jobs I can do.

Everyone is about early this morning. Good luck with your hearing tests Ann. I expect your sister will enjoy a visit from you on her birthday Mandy. Does she live locally?
Gas man found a failed valve head and of course didn’t have one on his van so he will be back Monday. He thinks there may be no charge but it won’t be too horrendous if we have to pay, so that’s a relief.
I feel a bit aimless today, just can’t seem to get on with anything. OH has gone for a walk so I might go and deadhead all my daffs that have gone over now. They have been beautiful this year and have been in full bloom for a good month or more.

Anng enjoy your photography this afternoon .
We're off to see my sister and bil later as it's her birthday today then We're in for the day making the most of the sunshine before it's all change for next week , and the clocks go forward this Saturday so it will be lighter in the evenings .

Morning All,
It's up to 10 degrees here now and sunny again. We both have hearing tests at Boots down the road on the retail park this morning while we both have a bit of extra immunity from having had covid recently (hopefully!), then a zoom meeting with friends. BBL.

Morning Mel, AnnG and all
Bright and sunny here again. I think it’s going to be a bit cooler than yesterday.
Gas man is here and I am keeping out of the way in the bedroom and hoping he’s not going to find anything too expensive.
I’ve no other plans for today. Enjoy your U3A meeting AnnG.

Thats ok Vera it happens and I now know you were thinking of me.
Hav'nt got on today at all. I did a bit of craft and thought I would go in the garden but by then it was time to get lunch.
Got chicken out of the freezer for tonight and looked for the lamb joint for tomorrow. Nowhere to be seen and I could'nt remember wiping it on Tuesday. I always put it in the freezer on the top as I know I am going to use it this week. Looked in the freezer again and had loads of things out and still nothing. They must have forgotten to put it in the shopping but they charged me for it.
Your walk sounded nice Vera but take it slowly next time so you don't get so stiff.

It’s another really beautiful day here.
I did laugh at the tale of the moth Ann. I’m still smiling thinking of it now. Take care of those sore knees and don’t go for a walk if they are bad. I hadn’t heard of mask sanitizer either. We have a box of disposable ones we keep in the car but way back when the pandemic started I bought a couple of masks from the Etsy website. I thought they were expensive at the time but two years later they still wash up like new each time, they fit perfectly round the face without gaps and have 2 lengths of elastic that go round the back or top of the head, which I find more comfortable than round the ears. They are black and we do look like a pair of bank robbers when we are wearing them.
Sorry you had a bad night and a painful arm AnnG. I hope the ache is wearing off now. Any news of your bus pass? I can’t remember the last time I used mine. Our buses are not very frequent and never at a convenient time or I would use them more. With the problem with the optician closed as well, it’s certainly not your lucky week. Perhaps that’s your 3 things going wrong and everything will be plain sailing from now on.
Mandy, I could just imagine Max sunning himself and taking the air like the Lord of the Manor surveying his estate.
Yesterday I went into town and picked up my meds and one or two other bits and decided I must get some exercise so I walked around town a bit. I couldn’t have done more than about a mile but I thought I wasn’t going to make it back to the car park. To be honest, it frightened me a bit. My legs just seemed to have seized up. I made it home OK but for the rest of the day I was very uncomfortable, not really in pain but totally stiffened up. I decided I need to get back walking so today we went to a nature reserve/country park place only a short drive from us. I only managed a slow amble but it was lovely and lifted my mood a bit. Even though there were a fair number of people around it was very peaceful and you could hear the birdsong. I’m still stiff and sore but I am sure it will gradually get better if I keep walking a bit.
We would have taken a lunch-time sandwich with us but just before we went out I got an email to expect a delivery between 1.30 and 3.30, so we got back by 1 pm. Then I got another email saying they were sorry but they were unable to deliver today after all. At the same time I got a further email saying it was delivered at 12.12 pm and sending me a picture of it sitting by our back door! Then would you believe I got a further one saying “We sent you this email because you asked us to return a parcel for you”. No I didn’t, I haven’t even opened the parcel yet.
On the subject of the efficiency of some of these companies I also had a phone call from Boots Opticians. This was to say they know I have an appointment to collect my glasses tomorrow but they haven’t got them yet. Of course they haven’t got them – I collected them a month ago as my appointment was 25th February, not 25th March.
Having had my rant I am now going to make a cup of tea. Enjoy the rest of your day whatever you are doing.
EDIT: I know I typed something to Mel about the price of oil but it seems to have gone AWOL and I did c & p so I must have deleted it somehow :-S

We have been washing ours up to now AnnG. OH has found the masks we were using were affecting his ears as they were too tight, so I got him some single use ones that he prefers now. I saw that you can get mask sanitiser, so thought if he used that on his he could use the masks more than just once and it would be handy for between uses on the same day too.
I didn't go out and haven't done much at all as yet. Some seeds were delivered earlier but it is too hot in the greenhouse at the moment. I have put a bin liner in the new kitchen bin so that can replace the old one now. I think I will continue with tidying another big drawer in the kitchen next. I wish I was more decisive!
