Afternoon All,

It's reached 16 degrees here now so is very pleasant and sunny. I woke and got up with my left knee sore and a bit crunchy, so no walk again for me yet. It seems that shifting balance when doing the weeding and bending over when pruning sets it off, so it might be where it is worn!! OH left an hour ago and won't be home till after 9.00pm again. A chair of several committees approached him last night and asked if he could recommend him to the Police who are looking for an Independant Person. He fancies doing it as he likes having influence, so that could be more work coming his way. I don't think he will fully retire just yet!!

Sorry you had a bad night AnnG, but things were on your mind so it's not surprising. Is your arm feeling any better now? I had to smile at your SIL's comment. What a shame you couldn't get into the opticians to book an eye test. Could you have one somewhere else like Boots where it is within the store?

Gosh it shows how prices are going up Mel, but at least you won't be affected by more price rises till autumn. Our gas and electric provider has hiked up our direct debits, so we are keeping a close eye on what we use, as they won't be considering that people will be cutting down will they. Oh yes I can imagine the tapestry fabric being good for baskets, good idea.

Well now I'm spoilt with all this time I can get on with things without interruption, I can't decide what to do. I need to order some spray on mask sanitiser and update my Asda order, clean the windows inside where the new blinds will be fitted, there are more seeds I could plant or should I grab my camera and drive off to find some trees in blossom to photograph. Maybe I could do it all if I get cracking!! BBL. :-)

I don't think it is my week this week. I have just walked round to the shops with two things to do, get my prescription and book an eye test. OK got my prescription which was the most important. Optician is closed unforeseen circumstances just for today. I have been waiting to go round as I have a problem on the phone and now anyway you can only go in if you have pre-booked an appointment.

Its 12 degrees here now. The oil should last till the autumn I think as we don't use much during the year only for the hot water.

AnninGlos Report 24 Mar 2022 09:44

How long will that oil last you Mel?
10 degrees here now so temp is rising.

Good morning all 4 degrees here but bright and clear. slept really badly last night, My arm was painful so couldn't lay on it and I was still annoyed about carelessly losing my pass so I guess today is going to be not doing much. Might take a walk round to get my prescription.

Ann ?? hope he was not scratching through the meeting. I bet he gives the suit a good shake now.

I just said to daughter by email that my arm was hurting. She emailed back that son in law said.’drink your gin with the other arm’.????

Annx Report 23 Mar 2022 20:59

I think the moth must have been in his suit to start with as he hasn't worn his suits for ages with meetings being online. It was like a clothes moth. It must have migrated to his underpants while he was out! You'd think he'd have felt it though wouldn't you! lol. :-)

Mandy Max sounds like a country gent taking the air. Of course their sense of smell is so strong isn't it. I bet it was nice sitting out in the warm for your coffee. This warm weather's certainly making your seeds grow! I shall be lagging behind again I think.

What did you make your little baskets from Mel, was it raffia? You have soon started your next project. Lovely F&C, lucky you.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Mar 2022 20:34

F & chips was lovely tonight I had a large cod and a scollop which is like a fried potato pancake.

After that I went back in the work room and did some little baskets in different shapes and sizes. I shall want a couple for my next project.

Sorry you lost your bus pass Anng, lets hope someone will hand it in now they have a photo on.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 23 Mar 2022 18:52

Mandy I checked everything twice as I could not believe it was not wherevI thought it should be. About ten or twelve years ago I lost my pass and I knew I had dropped it in the bus. I never got it back but I think in those days there may not have been a photo or computer chip, hopefully now it will be more difficult to use although as the driver never ever checks them, who knows.

Ann your OH is not going to live that brave moth down.
Sounds like a rest day fir you tomorrow.
Mel wow four eggs, doing well. Enjoy your FAnd C

Evening all,

Oh Ann I did laugh about the moth lol how the devil did it get in his clothing .
My Lettuce seeds are up and he tomatoes and cucumber .

Ann I hope your bus pass turns up ,there are some good people who would hand it to the driver ,you've checked all your pockets?
That's good your jabbed I'm sure I heard on the television at lunch time some people are having a fifth jab ,first time I've heard that mentioned .

Vera I hope your garden wasn't cropped to much while you were out :-D I bet you had a good look round when you got back.

Mel I watched that Simpler Life last night ,it's on again tonight, so thats your little shop ,they thought the chicken was pricey at 18 pound .
I had a Google and it just said it was filmed on a forty acre farm in Shebbear.

We have been out in the garden for most of the day its been lovely and warm out in the sun we got lots of odd jobs done and had coffee out there sitting on the bench .
Max has been sunning himself he lays out with his paws crossed sniffing the air.

Annx Report 23 Mar 2022 17:06

I told him it had probably munched some holes in them Mel and that moths tend to go where nothing has been disturbed for a while!! :-D That's good you got 4 eggs today!

Like you I have ended up with backache, also sore knees after pruning 2 shrubs that were overgrown, oh and also removing more weeds. I planted some old lettuce seed and some lamb's lettuce and OH has filled my 4 watering cans for me.

What a shame you have mislaid your bus pass AnnG. Hopefully it was handed to the driver or found on the floor of the bus and you will get it back. Good you have your 4th jab now before you go away.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Mar 2022 15:15

Gosh I laughed, it was probably checking the family jewels!! or perhaps it was going to tickle his fancy!!

I cleaned the chickens out this morning and had to wait to do the nest box as Daisy was in there. I left her for a while while I picked up all the sticks that had blown off the ash tree as oh was mowing the orchard. After a barrow load of those and backache to go with it I wandered round to the chickens again onkly to find two missing so looked inthe nest box and Daisy and the old girl were in there and the old girl had just laid an egg so I picked it up and she turned round looking for it. I wonder if she was going to eat it and I got there just in time. Anyway I had a feel under Daisy and there was one of the young ones eggs under her so I took that out and lifted Daisy up and there was another egg under her. So I had one egg this morning and three later in the day so 4 in all. Great.

Came indoors and hoovered the kitchen which always needs doing.

What I wanted to tell you was the shop I go to in the village for my bits and paper on a Saturday was on the telly last night. I watched the program on Channel 4 called the Simpler Life where 24 people were living life like the Amish in Devon for 6 months. The narrator said they went to the shops as Amish do on a horse and cart two miles up the road. I am two miles up the road from the shop. Now I want to know where they stayed at this farm for 6 months.

Good afternoon. Well that is me jabbed again, quite a long queue and only one person doing the jabbing, and one taking details. she was so gentle and quich I really didn't know she had done it. Moderna this time. I luckily got there early for my appointment but went in more or less on time, when I came out the queue was right across the pedestrianised shopping street.
Anyway I go to town early and it was very quiet so had a coffee and biscuit type cake in M&S then wandered, a magazine in smiths, some ear wax softener in Boots, a few bits in the pound shop (well only a couple of bits wer £1. Then a reduced top in Klass and a couple of bits in B&M.

Was feeling quite pleased with myself until I got home and realised that when I thought I had put my bus pass in my bag I hadn't so I must have lost it on the bus. So annoying as I tend to be paranoid over it but I was a bit concerned at how crowded the bus was although masks were in the majority and the person next to me had a mask on. I shall have to wait for a response from Stagecoach and then, if it doesn't turn up I will have to apply for a new one.

Morning All,

Sunny and 12 degrees here. We went to the garden centre first thing and there were no sweet peas or basket plants of any kind which was a bit strange so I will try the village one first thing tomorrow. As no-one was around that early we stopped and had breakfast in the cafe. The cost was a bit eyewatering though, but I suppose we can expect that now. There is a cafe and shop with the one in the village but the farm produce and till are all under a big open canopy outside.

Gwyn how nice to see all those eggs in the swan's nest. A big family already if they all hatch. I have never seen a Kingfisher despite looking in places where they are supposed to be. Such pretty colours.

What a nuisance you need the boiler looked at Vera. No sooner do we sort one thing and another thing crops up. I hope your back is a bit easier today.

Mel I think some more thorough HW is needed here too. I had to laugh when OH got home last night. He was undressing for bed when a moth flew out of his underpants!!! He said it should have been in my purse!! :-)

Better finish ordering some things on line then may go up the greenhouse and plant more seeds.

Good luck with the h/w Mel. You’re not the only one to be a bit lax lately. I’ve just been skimming the surface but everywhere could do with a more thorough clean. I think I’ve been in a “that’ll do” mood for too long and need to get myself motivated.

Well, British Gas are coming on Friday. No idea of the cost. If the fault is with the boiler there won’t be a charge as it’s under guarantee but if the problem is elsewhere it will be down to us to pay. There’s obviously something not right as with a new, more efficient boiler we should be using less gas but we are using more because it is running pretty much all the time.

I have to go into town now to pick up my meds. OH says he will do some more gardening while I am gone. Should I be afraid? Will I find everything cut down to the ground when I get back?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Mar 2022 09:16

s I have bee very lax lately with doing the project.

Just as well I copied it!

Morning Anng Vera and all,

Beautiful morning here sunshine and blue sky as far as the eye can see. Pc says 7 degrees and a clear pic of the sun. Not sure about how windy it is as not been out yet.

F & C's night so no cooking for me today yipee.

That was lovely to see theKingfisher Gwyn a flash of bright blue as you say they are so very fast. We had one in the garden once and oh did get some shots of it on his camera but the pics are so big I don't know how to send them.

I think I need to do some housework today as I have been rather lax with doing the project.

SuffolkVera Report 23 Mar 2022 08:02

Good morning AnnG and all

I hope your jab goes well.

It looks like it’s going to be a lovely day again. I’m not sure how the day will go as I woke at 6.30 am to hear OH pottering about on the landing where the big hot water tank and various controls are. We now have a problem of our boiler running nearly all the time and it shouldn’t be, so he is trying to see the reason. If he can’t sort it he’ll have to ring British Gas.

Your swans are doing well Gwyn and how lovely to see the kingfisher. I haven’t seen one for several years.
