You have all been busy ladies today.
Such a beautiful day today. It was almost like summer.
It just makes one more ready to get out and be active doesn't it?

A friend had suggested a walk together, so we met this morning and first went to see the swans. One was sitting on the nest, but got up to resettle herself and we saw 7 eggs under her now. I don't know if that's about it or whether there will be more.?

We walked about a mile alongside the water's edge and then stopped for a short while to sit and chat at one of the picnic benches there. Suddenly there was a flash of blue and a magnificent kingfisher darted over the top of the water.
It was beautiful and a long time since I last saw one.
A gentle stroll home made a pleasurable end to the morning.

Vera that was not very fair leaving you all the indoor jobs so by the time you got out in the sun your back was already tired. I have to say I did finally sit down in the sun with my book at 3,15 for about an hour.
At least you will be getting something done, even if it is further to go. Better than waiting.
4subs is quite a lot, they are getting worse. I just had two subs both acceptable

Ann it would be 6 months fir me on 2st April from my last jab.
Good to keep up your walks your legs will be getting stronger.

Evening All,

A lovely sunny day again. I'm all trimmed and neat since my hair appointment. It took 2 hours today for a shampoo, cut and lowlights, but the hairdresser wasn't busy and I wasn't in a hurry so we had a good natter. I was asking her about the fashion show in London she recently went to. It is about the 5th she has done now and this one had ballet dancers in it and she said yes, they do dance. A team of them do the models' hair and she said they submit CVs and the best are selected. Afterwards we went to pick up the tests from the chemist and they gave OH 2 boxes which was good. I see Boots have confirmed they will charge £17.99 for a pack of 4 tests!! So our 14 tests we got today will cost nearly £64 from them next month.

OH did some notes and is at a meeting 30 miles away just now. It is a while since he wore a suit, but it was good to see him looking smart. We both did some more weeding and he cut down more of the Acer that has to go and I went in the greenhouse and planted some seeds.

I've done some washing and also booked hearing tests for us on Friday. We haven't had one since before the pandemic and they have said every 2 years in the past.

It's good you got your 4th jab booked AnnG. It is just a week short of 6 months since I had my booster, but I am 3 and a half months too young to get the 4th jab.

Good idea to take the appointment elsewhere Vera. Different people may have different ideas as to what they recommend for you. You have still got plenty done despite your poor back. Frank hasn't been on FB for a year either now, not since last March. It's a shame as we enjoyed his company and 'adventures'. I expect Gill is busy with the alterations and garden now, but she must stop for a rest sometimes, unless there is so much dust around she doesn't want to use the computer.

Oh I did 1 lap of the park today, must try and keep it up!

Now I need to reply to an email from Fitz.

I’m back again. 6 subs with Tesco today which is a lot for them. They were all to my benefit – I got more for my money and 5 of them were very sensible subs but 1 made me laugh. I had ordered a particular pack of streaky bacon which they didn’t have, so you’d have thought they would have subbed with something like thin back rashers. No, they sent me 2 large gammon steaks. As streaky is usually either fried crispy for breakfast or wrapped round chicken breasts or sausages I’m not sure how gammon steaks would work. As OH likes them and I was getting them for about half their normal price I kept them and they are now in the freezer but I do wonder what goes through a packer’s mind when she/he is choosing the subs. They hadn’t got a frozen pastry desert that I had ordered and the packer clearly couldn’t choose between 2 other things she found so she sent me both. I’m not complaining about that.

What a beautiful day it has been – not that I have seen much of it. OH asked this morning what needed to be done today and then chose to “help” me by doing all the outside jobs while I was stuck in with the ironing and loo/bathroom cleaning! Oh, and sorting the shopping as well of course. He has also been out twice for a walk. I decided after lunch that I needed to get outside so went to do a bit of gardening but after 15 minutes my back was screaming Enough so I had to stop. I could have just sat outside but I’m not good at just sitting about unless I have someone to sit and chat to.

I had an email from the physio people telling me to carry on with the exercises but to get an appointment booked now and giving me the link to do it online. So I went in to the site and was asked to put in my birthdate and it just kept saying no appointments available. It appeared only to be booking up to 7th April. I had 3 goes and still got the no appointments box. Under that there was a little box just saying “Show” with no indication of what it would show but I pressed it anyway. Apparently there were no appointments available at my local health centre but there were a few elsewhere, so I have booked one for 6th April in another town. It means a round trip of 25 miles instead of 3 or 4 but at least I am booked in somewhere. It’s also another 2 weeks away and I think I’ll be well on the way to recovery by then but I shall go anyway and have a chat with them. Wouldn’t you think the site could say something like “Press Show if you wish to see available appointments at other centres”. I’m sure a number of people will just give up trying if they think there is nothing available.

Thanks for telling me about the jab AnnG. I think our 6 months is up around 11th April so I’ll ring the surgery before then and see what is happening. I know the pharmacy where I collect my meds do them so I might try there if the docs aren’t doing them for a while. I have had an email from my chiropodist to say she is opening in new premises from 5th April and will be doing a full week rather than a couple of days so more chance of getting an appointment at a time I want to go.

We had an interesting talk at the Club last night. It was a talk on recycling and the speaker was from the company who run all the recycling facilities on behalf of our local council. It was a good talk but I found the speaker irritating. She was very bouncy and jolly, gabbled away at a rate of knots but dropped her voice at the end of sentences so not always easy to understand. It was good to find out that our general household waste doesn’t go to landfill now but gets turned into energy. 30,000 homes in our district council area are powered in this way. A drop in the ocean I know but it’s got to be better than just dumping the stuff in landfill.

I guess Frank has given up on the thread, maybe he finds using the computer a trial now, but it would be good to hear from Gill as it’s been ages since she posted. I hope everything is OK with both of them.

I’d better come to an end or I’ll be rambling on forever and I need to get plants in and close the mini greenhouse down. It still gets cold at night.

AnninGlos Report 22 Mar 2022 16:51

The fourth jab Vera. they have only just started doing it and our surgery have not sent anything out either. I have opted for the NHS obe as the pharmacy is easily accessible by bus.

SuffolkVera Report 22 Mar 2022 15:03

As AnnG says, Mel, I should stick with copy and paste if I were you. You must be getting so frustrated. I usually only type straight on the thread if I am only going to do a few lines. I’m doing this in Notes on the iPad.

You have been busy in your garden AnnG and well done in getting another booster jab sorted. Is this the fourth jab? It’s nearly 6 months since our third but I haven’t heard from the surgery yet and they usually ring us.

Posting now as Tesco have just arrived. Will bbl

AnninGlos Report 22 Mar 2022 12:11

Wise to copy and paste Mel.

I have just booked my spring booster for tomorrow. Unfortunately it is in town rather than at our good vaccination centre in the village, not heard anything from them yet. I wanted to get it done before going away in April so that it is out of the way. It means another bus journey which is not what I want but hopefully it will be ok.

Been down the garden and sorted out my ferns and around where the Hostas grow so that is all clear now. Next job is to sow the Cornflowers and poppies and other wild flowers.

Morning Anng and all,

WE have a beautiful morning here too Anng and pc says 12 degrees and sunny.

I have the big wipe down this morning and he's three stops away.

I think it must be my fault why the post disppear as I seem to touch something on the keyboard that does it. what I don't understand is why I get the last bit I typed.

I was busy yesterday, I hoovered, did washing and gardening and ironing.

Copying everything this morning.

Right hip was playing up yesterday, I think it was the gardening and I put new polythene on the bantam house its seems better today.

Mel you really need to do something about that keyboard, it seems to be a waste of your time. Has your OH used it and tried downloading what he has printed?

Good you did two laps, bad you didn’t take your camera. :-)

Annx Report 21 Mar 2022 18:57

Evening All,

It started sunny here but has been dull since lunchtime. First thing this morning I did a 2 lap walk which pleased me. OH would have come with me but he had someone ringing him. Yes the tyre seems ok Mandy thank goodness! There were a few dogs today including a sweet Min Schnauzer puppy who was so well behaved. I heard the chap tell someone she was 7 months old, but she came as soon as he called and kept looking back at her owner, then racing to him as fast as she could, her tiny legs were a blurr in a little black bundle of curls! Typical on the day I decide not to take my camera I heard a Buzzard and it was circling really low.

We had lunch, then went to the chemist for OH to collect the rest of his prescription the doctor had forgotten to put through. They also had test kits available but only if you had a collection code. Here is how to get the codes for anyone like me who didn't know how to get a code. I printed ours off and we are going back to the pharmacy tomorrow to get a pack.

https://test-for-coronavirus.service.gov.uk/collect-lateral-flow-kits

I had an email from the hairdresser about my appointment tomorrow. They will ask if you want the hairdresser to wear a mask and it is optional whether you wear one yourself. I think they should stick with masks now it is spreading so fast and anyone could be asymptomatic. Luckily as I go so early there is usually no-one else there and I'm hoping I have a bit extra immunity for a few months now I've had it recently.

I did a short stint in the garden again and weeded the rest of the pots and a bit of the border. Another humper full for the garden bin. OH took the wall pots down and emptied them ready for replanting.

Mandy we were saying today that we must take the rest of the old exercise bike down the tip. I must look up if you still need to make appointments. My Night Scented Stock I grew in a pot last year didn't seem to last very long, but the scent is so lovely.

We hope to do an early morning trip to the usual garden centre on Wednesday so I must make a note of sweet peas AnnG as I hadn't thought about getting those.

AnninGlos Report 21 Mar 2022 17:57

Gosh it was quiet on here today. I went to one of our independent garden centres. They have just been making all their outside plants under cover with a riff that can open in hit weather. It is very impressive. I did but a small pot of sweet peas to save growing the seeds, and a primula denticulata, and a sieve. Then we went home via the Range where I bought white spirit.
Mandy you snuck in at the same time as me so I have edited to say yes thank you it was a pleasant afternoon.

Evening all,

It was very frosty and cold first thing but as soon as the sun was up and burned the frost off it turned out a lively day .

Vera sorry can't help on the bulbs really could they be mini tulips as one or two of the leaves are a bit wider ,it will be a nice surprise when they flower you will have to show us the after photo .

We had a trip to the tip this morning to get rid of the garden rubbish and then after lunch I went to Aldi to get a few bits its nice and quiet on a Monday.

We had to remember to put our bin out for tomorrow as they have changed the day and it's Tuesday now instead of Wednesday, it use to be on a Wednesday a few years ago ,its supposed to make the round easier for them .

Anng I love Night Scented Stock ,I did put some seeds in the garden last year but didn't have any luck with them ,they smell beautiful in the evening .
Did you have a nice time with your friend this afternoon.

Ann is the tyre still OK.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Mar 2022 09:08

nd it as thick dust.

Start again........

Morning Anng and Vera and all,

Its 4 degrees here at the mo and the sky is blue and white out the front in sort of stripes but most whitish. I have a lot of washing to od today and must clean the bathroom as I got something of the top of the cupboard yesterday and it was thick dust mostly the colour of oh's dressing gowns. He has oneof those fleecy ones and they shed like billyo. When he mainly wears his toweling ones (navy blue) I get dark dust all on the top of the white cistern.

Enjoy your afternoon with your friend Anng and Vera don't do too much today give the back a rest. Your tulips will pick themselves up when they warm up after the frost.

Hope all slept well and there's not many aches and pains this morning. My toes all ache today.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 21 Mar 2022 08:15

Morning AnnG and all

Bright sunshine here and the weather app says it is 4 degrees but it doesn’t feel like it. There was a heavy frost last night and it hasn’t burnt off yet. My lovely mini tulips in bowls which are in full bloom now look very sorry for themselves. I hope they pick up again but the frost might have finished them off.

Nothing much to do today except the washing and then tonight we are going to a club meeting but I can’t for the life of me remember who the speaker is.

AnninGlos Report 21 Mar 2022 07:48

Good morning all. Yesterday was very satisfying with a lot done in the garden so I am pleased about that. Won't be much done out there today as I have a Tesco delivery this morning and am going out with a friend this afternoon.
Supposed to be cloudy here all day today and it is only 1 degree here at the moment, although no frost.

still have outdoor wild flowers to sew and outdoor Cornflowers and night scented stock. Brown bin day tomorrow, it is not full but it can go out.
