The worm moon

The third and final full Moon of winter, the “Worm Moon” came just a few days before the vernal or northward equinox on Sunday, March 20, 2022, which signals the beginning of astronomical spring in the northern hemisphere.

You have got a lot done AnnG and must feel very pleased with yourself. You've been busy too Ann with weeding and hoovering. I decided I would have to choose between a short walk or a bit of gardening as I didn't think I would manage both. In the end I opted for the gardening, just doing things I could reach without too much bending and stretching. So I've cut down a few more penstemons in troughs, sorted through and tidied up the geraniums in the greenhouse and given them a drop of water and watered some other pots that seem to have dried out in the sun and wind over the last couple of days. It's not much but every little helps, as they say.

I also cooked a full Sunday roast dinner with a pudding, which we had just after 2 pm. I'm stuffed full now and won't want much more than a cuppa and a biscuit later on. OH hasn't been his usual helpful self today. He's been glued to the athletics on the TV.

I've got a Tesco delivery on Tuesday so I've also sorted my order for that which took a while. I'm sure I'm spending the same for 2 weeks worth of groceries as I was spending for 4 weeks when the pandemic started.

It's getting quite chilly now and supposed to get down to -2 in the early hours so I'd better ask OH if he will cover up my agapanthus pots again and bring in to the conservatory some plants that I've been putting out for a few hours during the day.

I hope you all have a good night and wake up aches and twinges free in the morning.

It was a bit chilly when the sun went begind a cloud but after lunch it warmed up a bit tp 12 degrees and stayed sunny. Yesterday it was 16 degrees si a big difference. I think maybe a rest tomorrow it looks as though it is not going to be sunny but tuesday is. I am already a bit stiff so don't want to overdo it. Tomorrow afternoon I am going to a garden centre with my friend.

You've been busy AnnG! I managed a bit of weeding as did OH. I cleared some weeds out of the pots and from among the alpines and then we came in as it was quite chilly. I also did a quick hoover through without moving furniture.

The washing dried nicely and is put away now and I ordered some seeds and sorted an ISA out. Now I'm tidying up.

Had lunch then spent a further hour out there. getting there slowly ticked off a lot of my 'to do' jobs.

Just in from the garden. Have filled all the hanging baskets and left them to warm up in the greenhouse. Also taken the huge baskets that T had with Ivy leaf geraniums in and split the geraniums into smaller baskets. I could hardly lift the large ones and certainly couldn't get them up on the hooks. Also had a short spell of trying to tidy the shed but I think that is a whole day job and then a visit to the dump.

Pruned away some of the dead bits of a large clematis and cleaned the lo

Lunch now No Tesco today for reasons better known to somebody other than me I booked my order for Monday this time instead of today, no problem but it was a surprise when I checked why I had not had the list/invoice.wer patio and put weed killer down as it is too difficult to weed.

Morning All,

Another sunny morning but a little breeze here today. It's 7 degrees here too Mel. I was up early and looking through the window at my tyre! It looked ok so I decided to do the little walk I meant to do yesterday and see if it was ok. No low pressure warning lights or beeping so it was fine. I was tempted to try a second, but did just one lap as my L knee still twinged a bit. Like others said, best to not go mad too soon and have to stop again. The washer is on and I've ordered the carvery today as we haven't had one for a few weeks.

I haven't watched my recordings yet so haven't seen that garden, but it sounds as if it would look a bit messy in the winter. Good for wildlife though.

Going up the greenhouse next to dampen some compost for doing some seed planting later. :-D

Mel, I think her garden was planted up with all plants very close so no room to blow around. Possible too she has trees keeping the wind out. Loved her garden though and she did it all herself.

Morning Anng Vera and all,

Bright sunny morning here today and pc says sunny and 7 degrees. I really should start on the garden but have been wrapped up in the project. I can do that when its raining so I think its about time I started on the cutting down. Did you see that lovely garden on Gardeners World where the lady said she cuts down everything and leaves it on the ground. Why dos'nt it all blow around as it would here?

Hope Mandy feels better today after pulling her muscles but no children today so she can rest till next weekend.

Good morning AnnG and all

It’s bright and sunny here as well but quite chilly at the moment. It’s forecast to be cooler than the last couple of days. I must try and get outside again while it’s still dry as it did me good yesterday but I won’t be walking so far today. I am still stiff and sore. I think I need to build up to longer walks gradually.

I hope your muscle pains are easier after a night’s sleep Mandy.

Have a good day. Might bbl.

Good morning all, bright and sunny again so no excuse for not getting back out in the garden :-D :-D

and isn't that just the trouble Ann & Mandy. As soon as we can start doing all the garden jobs we enjoy (and some we probably don't), bits of us we have forgotten we have, start to remind us of our age!! :-)

That's what I did in the garden that set my knees off Mandy. It was the bending when I thought I'd do some weeding. You feel you are ok at the time, but later the stiffness comes on. Well thank you Colin for the suggestion! I'm leaving the tape on till I know if the tyre is ok.

Your OH has been busy Mel and I bet the boys were pleased with their gifts. OH showed me an article in the Telegraph magazine a short while ago that said miniature settings like you have made are becoming the new thing!!

He has been making the tree of life cut outs and today he did some fairy ones. He's cut me out my next project and he's made a tractor, a game of noughts and crosses which I gave to the boys today and a minion you can put your pens in. He did me a nice witch flying across a pumpkin first. Can't think what else he's made at the mo.

I have to do our Saturday nights burgers now and i have a nice bottle of Merlot to go with them.

I think I over did the gardening Ann there was a lot of bending over doing the weeding and filling the trays with compost ,I see today I have two tiny cucumber seeds beginning to show and I only sowed them on Thursday.
It was Colin who suggested marking the tyre .

Vera that was a good walk you did today now take it easy for the rest of the weekend and I hope the fresh air from the walk helps you to have a better night's sleep.

Mel you've done really well making all those tiny things ,it's one of those things where you can keep adding things or change things around .
What has OH been making with his wood lately .

Annx Report 19 Mar 2022 18:18

Not many modern cars have a spare wheel Mel. They just have repair kits that ruin your tyre, so I bought a spare wheel for mine. It has big wheels so it takes up a lot of the boot space as it won't fit in the wheel well properly, but I'd sooner that than not have one. OH pulled the nail out and it was a phillips screw half an inch long, but at an angle so I'm keeping my fingers crossed it didn't reach right through the tyre. OH said he would change the wheel if needs be till I reminded him you need a trolley jack for my car. If it isn't lifted properly it can crack the wavy, curved glass roof.
The breakdown people will come out though and put the spare on like the last time if necessary.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Mar 2022 17:46

Do you not have a spare Ann?

Annx

Annx Report 19 Mar 2022 17:03

No it doesn't does it AnnG. We just got the bathroom fan fixed and now something else to sort out!

Ah so it is a green witch Mel. There used to be a white witch where I worked once. It is smaller than I expected so you did well to pack so many things in there and I think the fire is very effective. Good idea to put it in the show if you can as I'm sure it will attract a lot of interest.

Sorry you have pulled your back Mandy. Was it in the garden or from the new Shark being heavier? We still use our corded dyson that's heavier from time to time to get the dirt out better. To think I thought how light that was after the older hoovers. Brilliant suggestion to mark where the nail is in the tyre. I've put a couple of strips of that heavy duty electric tape, one on the wall and one across the tread and also circled it with a white pen deep in the tread. The nail seems to have bent over and gone in the tread on the angle so I might be lucky. I've been so careful where I park since I got one a few years ago parking in a field gateway to take a photo. I suppose we'd better check the others as well.

No I realise that it would not be suitable for a child, wouldn't stop her wanting to play with it though. I am sure it is for display only.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Mar 2022 16:50

The things in it are not suitable for children under the age of 14 Anng. I wanted to make some more tiny bits to go in it this afternoon but have only managed to get some stuff put away and made oh coffee and now I have to go and do the chickens. I was going to clean them out again but there's such a strong rough and very chilly wind so I thought better about it. At least they are dry in their house even if it is a bit smelly.
