They are timed Anng she got told once she wasn't picking quick enough .
Meant to say new lot of Gardeners World starts next Friday.

AnninGlos Report 6 Mar 2022 09:30

Not sure how true this is but Grandson tells me they have a quota for the number of items to be picked (I assume per day), if they reach that quota, even if the items are still on the shelves they can't pick them.

Morning all,

Nice bright morning here so we're getting out in the garden just having a coffee before we start .

Anng I suppose when the goods are picked if its not on the shelf then that's why its substituted with some thing else even though they have the item in the stores out the back ,I know someone who has done the picking in Tesco and they are timed on each shopping trolley and have to do so many in their shift so I suppose they don't have time to get the item from the back store .

Got some washing to go out ,mum would never hang washing out on a Sunday so I hope she's not looking down :-)

Morning Anng and all,

Dull here too this morning but dry at the mo. Anng did you know that your orders are picked at 10pm at night so there could be things out of stock before the shelves have been restocked the next day.

AnninGlos Report 6 Mar 2022 07:36

Good morning all, dry and dull so far. Tesco order this morning, not happy with it this week. For the first time in two years I have 4 substitutes and three unavailable (out of stock). Wonder why so bad all at once. and the unavailable includes milk and slim line tonic. None of it drastic, I always buy more tonic than I need for when daughter comes and I have milk. The subs are aggravating but acceptable. But what I don't understand is, when I go on line and look at the items, none of them are shown as unavailable.

Already have the bedding in the wash. Slept well and woke just after 6, didn't get up all night., not sure what I am doing otherwise, hair wash first I think

You have a nice lot of colour i the garden Anng. I have hyacinths out too and lotsof little daffs and some primulas I planted a couple of years ago which have increased and today at the shop I bought a lovely pale pink one, the ones with the bronzey leaves but I can't think of the name of them at the mo. I have two flowers on my Fire this year and I think they need to get inthe ground to produce more flowers. I must find a place for my special snowdrops too as they done seem to flower in pots. One was going to flower but a slug got at it, blast..... They are from the churchyard and were all lying on the top of the ground so I brought them home. They have large wide leaves.

AnninGlos Report 5 Mar 2022 19:55

Thank you all for your remarks about the garden. Mandy I think the hyacinths arebearly but none of them are new bulbs this year they are all planted out in previous years after flowering in pots. There does seem to be more colour this year I know I planted quite a lot more tete a tete and the Helebores are really good this year but I am really pleased with it and I know T would love it, he loved the spring garden.

Good luck with the pc tomorrow Ann. I hope everything goes well on windows 11. I have not gone there yet. Oh just changed us from Mcaffi to Norton and its all different now.

Done some gluing and filling up of things and now I am going to do our burgers and have a nice glass of wine.

No I didn't put a hat or scarf on Mel. I had just a short sleeved T shirt and a thin anorak on. It started a bit of drizzle as I got there and there was a bitterly cold wind when I got out of the car. I zipped my anorak right up so the collar stood up and jammed my hands in my pockets as I set off. A few other hardy souls were there but not many. One old chap I saw sitting on a bench once before and was struggling to read a paper in the breeze was there on the same bench and still struggling to read his paper again. I just managed 2 laps again but was quite hot after the first lap.

You've done a great job potting up your plants AnnG and trimming back the Fuschias and tidying up. You have a lovely lot of bulbs and Hellebores, a lovely splash of colour. Ours isn't much of a spring garden, just a few bulbs and variegated evergreens here and there, so not so colourful this time of year.

I've decided to sort my pc out tomorrow so I can make sure I have saved everything I want to keep first.

I have potted on 21 plugs so that all looks very impressive in the conservatory. I am going to Evesham with Cynth on Monday and I see they have windowsill propagator on offer to card holders so will get one of those I think. I think the best place for the tomato seeds will be on a windowsill indoors. I did buy one tumbler plant and one Alicante but only very small not much bigger than plugs. They are on the kitchen windowsill Well if it is good enough for Orchids.
I have also checked the compost bin and added Garotta etc then took some photos out there and have now come in for the day.
I bought a half roast chicken in m&S yesterday so will have half of that hot tonight and the rest tomorrow. Because I am planning roast, I keep thinking today is sunday!!!

Afternoon All,

Slept well but no idea what the temperature is as I (maybe foolishly?) installed windows 11 last night and things have disappeared, my photos are jumping around and it won't accept my 'key' for the MS Office with Word etc that I use. I will ring the computer support people later and see if they can sort it for me and also get rid of the 'onedrive' on my system which copies everything and now says it's full so doesn't display my photos till you click on each one. It's a nuisance as when you delete something like a photo or documenbt, you have to do it twice and I keep a back up of these anyway.

The electrician rang this morning to say he had a free few minutes so could pop round to see what size motor for the fan we need instead of coming tomorrow. He's a likeable sort, put covers over his shoes and quickly sorted out what we need and will be able to give us a quote on Monday. As the cord to our loft light has frayed he said he would fit us a new one free of charge too. He checked the wiring to the pump was all sound as well. As it will be quick to replace he can work it in between his other jobs next week.

Your tea sounded delicious Vera and cream and jam left to use as well. Sorry your back is still painful, but it's good you have an appointment on Monday. Your surgery is very good as you say. There is no form like that on our surgery website and they have stopped us booking online appointments now, so it's all by phone with endless queueing, even if you get through.

Hope you get on well with your project Mel.........I'm beginning to think it's a model village! lol.

AnnG, I find a lot of people gabble so quickly these days, miss the endings of words off and any kind of accent makes it worse. The times someone leaves a phone number to ring them back and you have to play the message a dozen times before you can decipher all of it. No wonder you struggled and sometimes they don't even keep the phone near their mouth either. Hopefully you have sorted it now though. You have got other jobs done too and are ready for sorting your plug plants.

I have just booked tomorrow's lunch and am going for a walk next while the sun is out and while OH is watching footie on the tv.

AnninGlos Report 5 Mar 2022 12:05

Well, it is still dry but it is only 6 degrees so quite cold outside. I have done a load of washing. spent half an hour battling with the phone to sort out my EE contract, removing T's phone from it. Very helpful young chap and very patient as well but difficult to understand as he talked very fast and had a strong accent (Darlington, I asked him). It was like talking to somebody from Cumbria on speed!! Still that is done now I hope. The conversation was not helped by hearing aids not delivering clarity on the phone.
Anyway, after that I spent half an hour sorting out pots in which to pot on my plugs. then found and washed the long trays they have to sit on in the conservatory. Next I tidied up and cut back the fuchsias I have in the greenhouse and got rid of the dried leaves. will have another look at them at the end of the month.
Next job will be to pot on the plugs, maybe this afternoon or tomorrow. Back is aching a bit so I will rest it for a while then see.

Good morning AnnG, Mel and all

It started raining late yesterday afternoon and it’s still raining. I’m thinking of ordering in some wood to build an ark. It’s not very warm either. The IPad says it’s 6 degrees and feels like 2 degrees. That sounds about right.

Another post lost Mel; you must be feeling so frustrated. You’ll have to get used to typing your post in another programme and then doing a c & p.

My back wasn’t too bad yesterday but it is not good this morning so I think it will be another day of not doing much. I’ve just got rid of my beautiful colourful lilies as they have started dropping petals now. They have lasted 9 full days and everyone who has seen them has remarked on the colours. I’ve also just taken my birthday cards down so it’s suddenly looking a bit bare.

I’m now going to see what useful thing I can find to do while sitting on an upright, high backed chair.

Just lost a post again!

Nice bright sunny morning here and 6 degrees and pc says mostly sunny so I am hoping to get on with my project after the shop and I have a dozen eggs for Em this morning which will please her.

Good morning all, bright here this morning 3 degrees so a bit chilly. Hoping it stays dry so I can get out in the garden. Not dressed yet but just cleaned the bathroom (except the floor,) in my PJs. they are going in the wash when I have dressed anyway.

Vera yes it was the words on the back of the ladybird that really sold it to me.

Pleased your tea went well it sounds really lovely and plenty of it.

I had a chuckle at your thoughts on the hard hats, if there were that many gulls we would need jmbrellas as well.

Well done on getting a face to face appointment. Do hope answers can be found for you.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 4 Mar 2022 16:55

It’s been a dry day here so far but very grey and overcast and it’s due to rain on and off for the rest of the day.

You had a good trip into town AnnG and got several things done. Your little ladybird sounds pretty and I like the words on it.

Gwyn, it’s uplifting to see everything coming into bud and to hear the birds singing for a mate. However, I am not a fan of seagulls. When we lived in a rural spot backing on to farmland I could never understand where the gulls came from as soon as the farmer started ploughing. A great flock would appear from nowhere.

I had a giggle at the protective hard hats. I’ve probably got an odd sense of humour but I had a vision of a crowded beach on a hot day with everyone sunbathing in skimpy swimwear and a Dad’s Army type tin hat. I suppose it’s a step up from a knotted hanky.

I hope your electrician turns up on Sunday Ann. I sympathise with you about your water lilies as we are currently waging war on the pigeons that have turned the area under a hawthorn tree into a mud bath. Originally we had lavender around the base of the tree but lavender just doesn’t like our garden so we dug it up and planted campanula expecting it to casually spread around and have pretty blooms. Well it did till the pigeons trampled all over it. So today OH has ordered some low growing berberis and we’ll try that.

Today I decided I had put up with this back for too long now and I needed to do something about it. Right at the beginning of the Covid problem I found the best way to get medical help was by filling in the online form. It can be a bit of a pain filling in all the details and you are told the practice will respond by the end of the next working day, though I’ve never waited more than a few hours. I sent the form off at 11.20 am and got an automated email saying I would hear by 6.30 pm Monday. In fact one of the doctors rang me within 40 minutes offering me a face to face appointment for Monday. When I hear the stories of people having difficulty even getting hold of anyone at their surgeries, let alone getting an appointment, I think we’re very lucky. I can’t fault our practice.

Well, our tea yesterday was a great success. The food was beautiful and there was so much of it. I followed the instructions on how to store it till we were ready to eat and it was all perfect. We all agreed the scones were the best we’d ever had. I sent our friends home with 3 large cakes. OH and I had a tennis ball sized Scotch egg each for our lunch today with half a long sausage roll, half a scone and half a large cake each. That’s finished the main food but I still have 2 little pots of jam and 2 cartons of clotted cream in the fridge.

I suppose it’s time to think about dinner tonight. I took some smoked haddock from the freezer earlier but need to sort out some veg to go with it.

Perhaps he should find that he has another appointment when/if they phone. Manners seem to have gone out of the window these days. and in a similar vein although not remotely the same. Manners and thoughtfulness when driving. sitting on the top deck of the bus looking down. several times when the bus wanted to pull away cars kept coming through. One even nearly caused an accident and got blasted with somebody's hooter, it went past the bus as it had started to pull out with a car coming the other was on a not very wide two way road. T always used to stop and let buses out knowing they have a schedule to keep.
