A cold day with on and off rain. It's also been an exhausting day. OH is home with a large bag of pills - antibiotics, anti-sickness and painkillers. Once his temperature and bp had stabilised at somewhere near normal and all his needles and drips were removed the doctor thought he would probably recover more comfortably at home. He is very tired and weak but that's to be expected. He seldom goes to bed before 11.30 pm but he looked so tired I made him turn in at 8.30. When we got in around 6 pm I also made him put the heating on in his room. As he is on the ground floor it's underfloor heating but he doesn't usually have it on at all and sometimes it's icy in his room. He hasn't got it very warm but he agreed to turn the thermostat up a bit so it's taken the chill off the room.
I have a couple more jobs to do then I'm off to bed myself though I suspect I'll be half listening for him during the night.

No I don't remember you saying Mel and have no idea what Dalton dolls are. I'll have to look them up. She's kept things you made a long time ago hasn't she. Why couldn't you paint some of the things now? Were they very tiny or very detailed?
Just looked on ebay but there are full size Malinda Dalton dolls which look as if they would have been very expensive and Max Dalton and Ann Dalton miniature things so that didn't help.

Yes it's always a worry when these messages appear as you say. I was told once before about switching everything off like you say, even holding down the off switch on the pc for a number of seconds till the pc closed down if the usual method of closing down didn't work and leaving it off for a while, but it didn't work this time and a minute or tnswo after I switched back on, they were back. He told me to look at what site they showed at the top left of the pop up and to move my mouse towards the top right where 3 grey dots in a row would appear and to click on them. This brings up a list of notificatio and the option to remove them and the top one is the annoying site so you can click to remove it. He removed all four in a few seconds!
If it's the ship Celebrity AnnG it was a power outage with no electric, so no lights aircon or toilets working, so quite scary. I see it is safely docked now which is good, but it must be chaos with new passengers turning up as well. Your poor DIL having another flight so soon after the last in order to get home.

oh dear that must have been worrying Ann I have had a spam virus warning twice that suddenly blares out and shouts all sorts of frightening warnings in an american voice, All I do is shut down what I have open email, FB GR etc and close the PC down, switch it off and unplug it for 10 minutes (I don't actually think that is really necessary). I then switch it back on and it is back to normal. usually then run cCleaner and all is well. It is a spam.
Yes the ships are huge but maybe they can have some sort of emergency engine on to help the tugs. I have not heard any more but probably won't now until they get home. I guess once the ship was being towed in, it won't have been very pleasant as the seas are rough this time of year and I can't imagine the stabilizers would be working. Daughter in law is not a well person, she has fibromyalgia and also something else that affects her legs and her back. I can't think that having to fly two days running is going to affect her back.

Morning All,
Chilly but sunny at the moment.
I wasn't online yesterday due to some nasty spam type things with threats about viruses, two or three of them. I did a quick scan that looked ok but couldn't get rid of them filling the screen, so switched off till this morning, then rang the support people who explained what had happened and explained what to do to get rid if I get any in future.
Oh goodness Vera what a scary time for you and your poor OH! I know how awful it is willing an ambulance to arrive quickly and not knowing what to do in the meantime. It's good your neighbour was around to help. It sounds like your OH is improving now, but these bacterial infections can take hold very quickly. I was perfectly well one morning, but had to ring OH at his meeting that night to take me to hospital as I felt so ill and they got me a wheelchair straightaway. That was a bacterial chest infection, but no cough. Hydration and IV antibiotics worked very quickly and they sent me home with tablets the next day. Very Best Wishes to you both and I hope he is soon better and back home again.
How disappointing for your son that his holiday has had to be abandoned AnnG, but at least he will get his money back and some compensation. Those tugs must be powerful to move those big cruisers, which are enormous these days.I suppose some technical faults stop the engines being run for safety reasons, so it's best to be safe.
Mandy I love your rabbits and look forward to seeing a pic when you send one. You make them so well with their lovely clothes I'm sure they would cost a lot in a shop. It's a shame the tablets you have now cause fatigue and tiredness so it's worth telling the doc when you go for your review.
OH was up early for a blood test this morning and then we had the usual coffee and egg cob at Costa. He popped to look at Waterstones opposite and came back with 2 books on offer, buy one, get one half price! I think they are both to do with the Tudor period. We popped to the shop after and hooray! they have started stocking the stirfry veg mixes again!
I look forward to seeing the doll Mel and I hope your hailstones don't arrive here.
I need to cut OH's hair this afternoon and I have some bills to pay/admin to do next.

It was nice here until I went to go and feed the chickens. Off I went in the dry and by the time I had got to the run and opened the door and threw in their tasters which gets them out of my way, it started spoting with rain. Went to put the food in the trough and I had nothing in the bucket, I had forgotten to get it out of the bin. Back I walk to the garage by this time it was raining but as I opened the garage door it fell out of the sky so I shot in and stayed in there and suddenly as if someone had turned the switch off it stopped. Out came the sun again and the girls got theior pellets.
Going to have some lunch now and if it still nice this afternoon I shall clean the girls out. :-D

So sorry to read of your worrying time with OH,Vera, but good that the hospital seem to be treating him well to get him back on track. IV infusions will quickly make a difference to the infection, so I hope he is soon safely home with you.
AnnG, What a shame about the cancelled cruise and having to make a quick return home. Hopefully if they reschedule, they will enjoy the new cruise without mishap.
Lots of bright blue sky here and dry, so we might be in for a nice day.

Just mopped the downstairs loo floor just having a coffee and then I'll get hoovered and wash the kitchen floor , these tablets are still making me tired ,I'll stick them out until I have my tablet review next month then I'll see if they can change them ,tiredness and fatigue is a side effect.

Morning all,
NIce bright morning today 8 degrees and to expect lioght rain later it is also saying mostly cloudy so your guess is as good as mine what I'll get.I bet it rains the minuet I go round to the chickens.
Anng you don't think about a huge ship like those breaking down. It must have disrupted so many peoples holidays and left such a mess to clear up as they carry so very many people.
What are you all up to today? I have a parcel to post and maybe another one later on as I have a bid on it and there's 3 hours to go so I think I will pack it up. Its a Queen Elizabeth the first doll. I'll send a pic she lovely and very well made and I did'nt make her. she came to me in a job lot of dolls.

Good morning all, 5 degrees and quite bright this morning. And no frost or snow which is good news.
I just googled 'Athen cruise cancelled' and apparently (I am pretty sure this is the same one from the description of dates and destinations for upcoming cruise) the ship broke down at sea on the way to Athens and had to be towed by tug to harbour. People on board had to disembark a day early and back to back cruisers (I think it had come from the Caribean to do an 11 day cruise round the med) had to get off and not return as thier further cruise cancelled. I guess there were a lot of hotels having rooms booked overnight.

O Vera that must have been a very bad experience with hubby having a fall in the loo. I know how hard it was to get poor oh out of the bedroom when he collapsed. Its good he is responding to treatment though and I hope he will soon be back home with you again.
As you say Anng just as well they were'nt at sea when they cancelled the cruise because of a tech issue and good they will get their money back so they don't lose out.

At least you don’t seem to have had to wait too long for the ambulance Vera. It sounds as if they are on the way to getting him better. Once he starts to feel better you are going to have to get him to be patient as he mustn’t go home until he has really improved. He will, of course, be impatient.. did they suggest hoe he would have got a bacterial infection? I hope that he continues to improve now and will soon be home.
Son says they will return the cost of the cruise, plus an amount to account for the extra they have to pay for changing the flight home. Plus they will be given another amount equal to the cost of the cruise with which to book another cruise. My thought besides feeling their disappointment was that it is a good job the tech issue didn’t occur at sea.

Good evening everyone
I remember you mentioning those catering college meals before Gwyn. They sound tasty and at that price really good value and it’s encouraging for the students if people buy and enjoy them.
That was a nice present from your neighbour Mel and must have gone well with your meal.
Your poor son and daughter in law AnnG. It must be so disappointing for them. It wouldn’t have seemed so bad if they had stopped the passengers travelling before they flew out of Britain. I hope they get well compensated.
It’s been cold all day with some very heavy rain and some sleet showers but no snow yet. The forecast is suggesting another wet day tomorrow and possibly snow on Wednesday and Thursday.
I won’t go in to all the boring but quite frightening details of yesterday. OH was clearly unwell and we had rung 111 and were waiting for a call back from the out of hours doctor when he went into our small downstairs toilet and either fell or collapsed. He wasn’t injured and didn’t bang his head but he was in a very awkward position and so weak he couldn’t help himself. I couldn’t shift him to a more comfortable position so ran next door to a neighbour who came in and between us we got him sitting on the loo seat but he was too weak to get any further. My lovely man from next door supported him for 40 minutes while I rang for an ambulance and we waited for it to arrive. The ambulance man and slip of a girl brought the stretcher right up to the door and somehow got OH on to it. Goodness knows how as there was no space in the toilet to manoeuvre and by then OH could barely talk. I went in the ambulance with them.
On arrival we were taken straight to a Rapid Assessment Unit where I think he had every test known to man, lots of blood taken and X-Rays and saw 2 different doctors. The weakness and his inability to communicate were partly caused by a very high temperature and a very low bp. The conclusion was that he has a bacterial infection and has been on an IV drip since yesterday, along with other pills and potions. It seems to be working in that, with help from a nurse, he walked a few steps today and, talking to him on the phone his voice is stronger and his brain seems to be working again. I haven’t been in today but we’ve talked on the phone and he said he had also had an ultrascan to make sure there is nothing else going on.
That is the potted version. Daughter wants to see her Dad but is playing for a show all week. So tomorrow she is coming to pick me up and drive me to the hospital and she will spend a little time with OH before driving miles back home to feed and settle the dogs before driving more miles to where she is playing. I will get the bus back or failing that a taxi.
I have cancelled the taxi that was taking us to pick up the car tomorrow and will ring the workshop first thing and see what arrangement we can make. My other problem is Sainsbury’s. I was supposed to have a big order delivered around 2 pm yesterday afternoon but I couldn’t get through quickly to anyone to cancel it. When the driver arrived and we weren’t there he rang my mobile and I explained to him what had happened. He said he would take the order back to the store and I could reschedule it. I rang this morning hoping I could get it today when I knew I would be here. What a performance! Eventually the lady I spoke to said she would message the store the order comes from and they would contact me. I haven’t heard a word so I’ve now sent them a Contact Us form from their website. I can’t just let it go as they have already taken the money.
The bush telegraph is working overtime locally. Everyone seems to know OH is in hospital and I’ve had so many texts, whatsapp messages and phone calls that I feel a bit overwhelmed with their kindness. I have eaten properly today but I didn’t sleep much last night so I might be going to bed soon and trying to get some shuteye.

Feeling sorry for my son and daughter in law. He retired Christmas and this morning they flew to Athens to join a cruise around the Mediterranean . And they are in Athens and have just been told the cruise is cancelled due to technical problems with the ship.
How disappointing for them so they are having a tour round Athens and flying home tomorrow.
