Afternoon All,

8 degrees here and cloudy.

Vera our patio is covered with green patches and is slippy too which isn't good. I never got round to jetwashing it last year or the path across the front of the bungalow and was thinking like you to get someone to do the whole lot this year. The driveway needs doing too, but at least OH's car oil drips have stopped.

Oh Mandy, what a shame you didn't manage to get a photo! I wonder what you will make next? It's nice when you have an easy meal to get isn't it.

Asda always send a receipt before delivery too. I have about 5 subs today and 2 items out of stock, one of which is paracetamol, which is annoying, as they stock more than one sort and when I just checked on line, the one I ordered is still shown as being available??

My doc, after talking to a senior partner, suggested I be seen by an endocrinololgist rather than do the tests the radiologist suggested. To go with their report I need fasting blood tests tomorrow morning, followed by a 24 hour urine test when they have the right size receptacle!! In the afternoon I also have an appointment to review one of my meds, but I have managed to move my dental appointment tomorrow to wednesday. I just hope I won't have to wait 6 weeks like for the scan.

I think Asda are here so I'd better roll my sleeves up!

Well Cynth is not back from Cardiff yet, hope they don't leave it too late as the mist is starting to come down.

Tesco order was right on time so that was good and Louise over the road came over for coffee which broke up the day nicely.

I think I am going to pressure wash the patios in the spring. Garden doesn't look too bad. Strangely I can't see any sign of snowdrops (hope I have not dug them up!!)

Well the sun didn't last long here it's got really dull and looks more like rain now ,I never got outside we sat here talking with our coffee and decided to look at colour charts to pick a colour for the kitchen walls as we hope to decorate in there in the spring .
I did clean the brush head on my hoover though so thats one job done .

Colin was only saying this morning Vera that he needs to get the pressure washer out as some of the paving slabs at the bottom of the garden that don't get a lot of sun and are getting very green .

Oh I can see a bit of blue sky again .

Lucky you Mel. There’s not a sign of sun here and the weather app is telling me it’s 6 degrees but feels like 4. I’m looking out on the garden and thinking how mucky the paths and patio are. OH doesn’t like pressure washers but always kept everything beautiful himself. Health problems and bad backs mean he hasn’t been able to keep up with it and it’s now covered with moss, lichen and bird splat. I might be getting it pressure washed this spring whether he likes it or not.

Sainsbury’s have been emailing their receipts all the time I’ve been using them and I noticed Tesco did it the last time I had a delivery from them. It’s quite useful to be able to decide on subs in advance.

I’m going to try and sort out some books for the charity shop this afternoon. I’m a book hoarder, I hate getting rid of them but I’m running out of space. I’ve got a lot of books that are just novels that I’ve picked up at NT places or charity shops and it’s stupid to keep them if I’m never going to read them again.

I’ve just put our chicken in to roast. I’m looking forward to my dinner today as I’ve been off my food a bit lately.

Oh, there’s a gleam of sun :-)

Morning girls and all,

Naughty naughty Mandy not taking a picture of the cowl.

Brighter here this morning and the suns trying to come out. I don't know if its me or the new keyboard or GR but I keep typing things and they disappear and I only get the last few words I have typed so I am posting this now.

Morning Anng, morning all,

It's 4 degrees here there was no frost or fog this morning and now the sun is shining ,if the temperature comes up a bit more we might go out and do a few little jobs ,the kitchen window could do with a clean and a sweep up by the back door is z couple of jobs but it does need to warm up a bit before we go out .

Anng thats a good idea them sending the email now that way you can make a list of any subs you don't want which would make it easier I would think.

Easy meal for us tonight we have decided on a jacket potato with tuna and salad as there's salad stuff that needs using up .

Got to get something in the craft line to do as I've made the cowls ,DIL had hers yesterday and I've just realised I didn't take a photo of it .

Good morning all, nice clear morning out there PC says 5 degrees Alexa has been stuck on 3 degrees all day every day for over a week.
Nothing planned except Tesco delivery, we have a new system with Tesco, they now send out the receipt by email on the day of delivery. so I can now see I have no subs and nothing unavailable. :-)

If the poor man’s death was unexpected or the cause unknown there will almost certainly be a PM. A terrible shock for Cynth but I hope she finds comfort in knowing his end was peaceful. To go to sleep and not wake up is the best you could wish for anyone. It’s hard on you too AnnG, especially happening at this time of year so take care of yourself as well as helping Cynth.

Happy Birthday Lewis. It’s hard to believe that he is 7 already. I bet he is excited and having a lovely day. It sounds as though your gifts were a big hit.

I think it’s cold as well Ann. My weather app on the iPad tells me it’s 4 degrees but only feels like 1 degree. That sounds about right..

Sainsbury was on time and everything was fine except OH empties the crates into our bags at the door and just shoves things in, so I have a squashed cake where he put it at the bottom of the bag and loaded heavy stuff on top of it. A box of tomatoes looks a bit battered as well but I think the toms inside are OK.

I had a call from our son to say he has to be in Cambridge on business on Tuesday and as that’s only about an hour from us he’ll come and stay the night. He’ll test before leaving home and we will test in the morning to make sure we are all OK. As we have some family business to talk about my daughter is coming up after school as well. We haven’t seen son for several months so it will be good to have a few hours with him.

I feel a lot happier today. Although I am still feeling very tired I have managed to do quite a few odd jobs today. My back is very sore but I’ve not had to take any painkillers yet. I think I am going to have a read now. As we’ve already had our main meal OH will get us a snack later on.

Annx Report 15 Jan 2022 16:08

It does sound like there will be a PM then as you say AnnG. It's what happened when my sister passed away in the night unexpectedly in the night almost 3 years ago. With all Cynth will have to do and arrange it's bound to bring back sad memories for you too.

Oh HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Lewis and it's good he was pleased wih his presents. He will be drawing and colouring everyone now! I can't believe he's 7 already. I think it's colder today, even though there's no wind. We've had the heating on more. Still saying 2 degrees on the PC.

I have done some paperwork and will sort the little bed drawer next I think.

I wonder how Gill is getting on now some plastering is finished?

Happy birthday to Lewis Mandy, I bet he is busy drawing with his pencils now. He is younger than my Great Grandson who is eight, Luke loves drawing and colouring as well.

It is very cold here PC says 5 degrees but I bet it is colder than that.

I have seen all the neighbours I need to now.Just came in from the last one so having to get warm again.

Afternoon all ,

Oh Anng poor Cynth what a terrible shock for to find him gone in his sleep ,it was good that she had you with her until her family arrived .
That's not a nice job for you having to go round the neighbours and tell them what's happened very upsetting for you as you were close friends, a very sad start to the year

It's Lewis seventh birthday today so we nipped to see him with his presents this morning ,he loved all his colouring pencils in the box and the other bits and pieces we bought him .

The tablet is saying its 6 degrees but it feels like it's much lower ,we have a lovely fire but its one of those days when I can't get warm .

Just made a nice cuppa so hopefully that will help .

Ann he had not actually been ill but had not been in the best of health for some time. Nothing specific though.

I still have one neighbour to see This is the couple with two little girls so they are probably out visiting relatives as I think they have a few in the area including her Mum.

Annx

Annx Report 15 Jan 2022 14:02

What a shock to see the police and an ambulance outside AnnG and how awful for poor Cynth. Had her husband been ill or was it unexpected? She must have been so glad of you staying with her and it was very kind of you. I expect the neighbours you will tell for her will be just as shocked too. Not a good start to the year as you say.

That's interesting you say the Asda customers in your area get lots of subs too Vera. I have a delivery tomorrow but know there will be some subs. You have reminded me to check my geraniums as I haven't looked at them for a while.

It's getting colder here, just 2 degrees now and OH has decided to stay in where it's warm. It's still a bit foggy too so he thinks it will mean matches get called off where it is worse.

They slept in separate rooms, He has not been in the best of health for some time but nothing definite. He did have a spell in hospital about 3 years ago but I don't know if it is connected. I think there may be a PM. Her children are here now and her good friends from Cardiff who brought her son with them. I have had the job of telling the neighbours , well just the few who knew him from all having lived here longer than me.

Frustrating to lose your post again Mel. It seems to be happening a lot lately to all of us. If my post is going to be more than a few lines I’m going to go back to writing it separately and then doing a c&p. That way I’ll still have the original if it goes awol when I post it. I’m doing this on the IPad in Notes and I’ll use Word on the main computer.

We’ve had warnings of fog but haven’t had any till now but for the last couple of hours it’s been getting murkier by the minute. It’s really cold as well. I’ve just spent about 30 minutes in the garage. I had gardening gloves on but my fingers were red and numb when I came in. I can’t just sit around all day moaning about my bad back and feeling tired so I am making myself do things. I was sorting through my geraniums at the bench in the garage. The mother plants look fine but a few cuttings had died. Some that looked dead seemed to be difficult to pull out so I carefully dug one cutting out to find it had grown really strong roots so I think some are doing better than they look. I decided not to give them any water. They’re doing alright without.

Mandy, it’s lovely that Katie is interested in her ancestors and a good idea to make up an album or two. Those paintings on glass must have been wonderful Mel. My father disposed of loads of photos of people he didn’t recognise but as he had dementia at the time he hardly recognised anyone. My brother managed to rescue quite a lot but there are some that we don’t know either, including one that has written on it “To Gran from Hilda”. Dad must have had it from either his mother or his later stepmother but neither had a granddaughter named Hilda. Aren’t these little mysteries fascinating?

I’ve got a Sainsbury delivery this afternoon. There’s nothing missing and just one sub and that’s just for a different size of the item I ordered. I can’t help but wonder why Asda seem to have so many subs. It’s the same round here. Friends who have Asda deliveries always seem to have more subs than I get with Sainsbury or Tesco.

I’ve decided to have our main meal at lunchtime today so I had better go and get the veg on. We’ve got a shop bought meat pie and that’s in the oven so I had better get a wriggle on with the veg. Might bbl.

EDIT. I’m so sorry to hear about your neighbour AnnG. What a shock for his poor wife. I am sure she is glad of your friendship and support at this sad time.

What was I saying about hating January.

Nasty shock this morning, opened the kitchen blind to see a police car and ambulance outside my house and next door. Half an hour later Cynth rang my door bell. Her OH had died in his sleep last night so I have been in there with her ever since. Her children are now on the way so she has said she can cope on her own now his body has been removed. I have the job of telling the neighbours and half of them are our of course. So a sad start to January.

Morning All,

It's bright and frosty but no fog.

Mel I get the job of opening all the boxed deliveries here and as you say that polystyrene when you break it up sticks to you like glue. It's a pity your mum threw out so much of your Nan's stuff, but my mum and OH's mum were just the same. OH's mum took old dolls that had pot heads, arms and legs that were probably worth something to the charity shop. She never asked us if we wanted things either. His dad had some big, old, historical books, also worth something and they had the dust covers on too which makes books worth more, but rather than clean the covers, he took them off and threw them away! Those pictures of ancestors painted on glass sound nice.

Lunch is calling, salmon with a variety of veg and hollandaise sauce. My snowdrops by the fence are white and ready to open their buds now.
