Sounds like it was a horrid journey you had. Poor Lyn I do feel for her driving in those conditions. Are they staying for a couple of nights or not?

got home about 3pm but stopped for lunch at Webbs garden centre because it was a pig of a journey. Torrential rain and fog at the same time, Lyn could only see where she was going by following the lights of the car in front on the M6. Then it died up a bit but we all ground to a halt and sat there for 45 minutes as there was an accident about 2 miles ahead. It was very tiring for Lyn who happened to be driving that bit so we stopped and had some lunch. got home ok eventually but still not unpacked. Now my pc wants me to download Windows 11, Vera have you had any problems with it?
Gill thank you for your card just opened it.

Morning girls,
Talk about your weather we have that fineish rain and a very blustery west wind which is blowing the rain in patterns of net curtains across the back. There's not a chicken in sight, they hate the wind. My pc is telling me Raining Now with a picture of a little brolly. As if I did'nt know.............. :-| its not telling me the temp!!
Just got to go up for the paper today and my pile of ironing is still waiting too Mandy.
Can't remember how long it takes Anng and co to get back home to hers. Hope its a safe journey if it is a wet one.

We're just having a cuppa to Vera and have no plans for today ,the electrician is here putting a new fan iñ the bathroom so it will be nice to have lights tonight although we were fine with all the lamps .
Colin is cleaning out the woodburner and I think we will get it lit early today it will cheer the place up with a nice fire .
Mel hope your not to stiff again this morning , it will take you a week or two to get use to the new mattress I expect .
Right I'd better tackle this ironing pile next its still there from the other day .

Good morning AnnG and all
You’ll be on your way now AnnG. Safe journey. I hope the weather isn’t too horrid for the drive back. It’s a bit warmer here today, 4 degrees at the moment, but it’s very wet and the forecast is for rain all day..
I slept fairly well and got up quite a while ago but then I made a cup of tea and brought it back to bed. I’ve no plans for anything today, though I must try to be a bit more active than I have been lately.

I used to always sleep on my back but I can't now as I loose my breath. Oh finds the new mattress great as he likes a hard bed. The last one we had was measured for our weights and my side was softer than his.

Infuriating to lose a post especially when a long one Ann. Goodness you have been having a good clear out of cupboards. Maybe you have got rid of the fleece before.. still it is helping you to sort things.
Up until five years or so ago we were spending a month in May and a moth in September every year in Tenerife so I am used to a long break. It takes a bit of clothes planning but can be done.
Hopefully the weather will not be unkind to us tomorrow.

Evening All,
Just lost a post at the end......grrrrrr! lol. We were up and showered early as OH had a zoom discussion early this morning. We then went to the chemist for our scripts but OH had to wait ages as they weren't made up ready this time.
All packed and ready for home and the pile of mail there then AnnG! I have never been away as long as 3 weeks, but at least the grass won't have grown while you were away. Enjoy your afternoon tea, I could just fancy one and I hope you have a good journey. OH reckons Saturdays are good for travel.
What a nuisance the fan playing up Mandy. Good idea to switch it off and good that you have an electrician you have used before. Those table lamps are a boon when the lighting circuit is out. We have had niggly things happening this week. The gas boiler needed topping up.......again, then OH realised he hadn't read the instructions properly so hadn't topped it up enough before! Then one of the bulbs went in the evening in the 3 light fitting in the kitchen. They are a close fit and we've bought wrong ones before, but by some miracle OH found a spare one and I switched the cooker light on so he could see to change it.
Vera I think 'rife' is what we have had here for a long, long time and now the mayor is blaming the NHS not doing enough to get the city jab figures up!! I think it is his job more than the NHS's and there is so much info and support now, even visits to people's homes to get them to have the jabs, that it is the individuals fault now if they don't get them. You do seem to be getting close to home with it though, but fingers crossed your OH stays ok. It's a shame the chap your OH gave lifts to has got it after going through the chemo a while ago. My dental appointment is a week on Monday. If I get pain before then, I can ring and they will fit me in the same day. Does your doc do blood tests for thyroid too? It was overwhelming tiredness and a foggy brain that sent me to the doc years ago and when they found my thyroid was underactive.
I had the rest, everything out of the top of 2 built in wardrobes this afternoon. I was looking for the red fleece I was convinced was there. I had bags of clothes down, so sorted through and rejected some to fill the rest of the charity shop bag and replaced some tatty tops with a few better ones. Didn't find the fleece though, but will sort through the top of another 2 cupboards in there tomorrow. I lost count of how many pairs of jeans I have! :-0
Oh it's not good if you can't get your hip comfy on the new mattress Mel. I didn't know before, but you can get memory foam/gel toppers now, so one of those might not be hot. When I turn on my side my hip can be a bit sore, but I usually sleep on my back so am ok. How does your OH find it?

Tea was very nice, too much for all of us to eat so we had boxes to bring the surplus home.. unfortunately we had a long wait because the person who booked the table in had not booked it as afternoon tea. Inara was really well behaved in spite of the wait and then made a really good meal of sandwiches, savouries and cake and was still bouncing going back to their car. There was not a murmur out if Senua, she was awake most of the time but perfectly happy as she had been fed. I won’t see them now until April sadly and baby will have grown a lot by then.
Vera, hope you can recover your get up and go.ndo you think it could be connected to your bowel problems?
Mel hope you can sleep tonight.

What a shame you aren’t getting a comfortable night’s rest on your new mattress Mel, but give it a bit of time. The mattress might need to “settle” a bit and your body might need time to get used to a different level of support. Perhaps you’ll get a better night tonight.
That’s a nuisance about your fan Mandy but good that your electrician can come so quickly. You won’t want to be without your main lights for too long. That’s the problem with being a home owner; there’s always something that needs fixing. We don’t have to chop our Xmas tree up to put it in the garden bin. Provided it’s less than 7’ tall we can just put it out beside the bin. There is also a collection point 2 minutes walk down the road so OH took ours there. It’s out of our way and a bin lorry will collect anything that’s there next Wednesday.
I hope you all enjoy your afternoon tea AnnG. It always seems such a treat. Maybe that’s because most of us don’t do that sort of meal at home. Have a good trip home tomorrow.
Is your dental appointment soon Ann? I hope he/she can fix your tooth without any discomfort for you.
Yes, I have been thinking of Frank as well and hoping all is well with him and Ros. Perhaps he is just having a break from being online.
My back is still giving me some trouble and I am still desperately tired but I don’t think it’s lack of iron that’s the problem. I do have a history since childhood of iron deficiency anaemia but for the last 15 years or so blood tests have been OK. I love my greens Mandy and will even eat liver, though it’s not my favourite meal. I feel as though I am in a cleft stick. A lot of the things that I shouldn’t have because of my bowel problems are the very things that are supposed to be good for you in other ways. Over the years I’ve learnt to avoid the things that really upset me and eat everything else in moderation. Otherwise I’d never get my 5 a day.
All of our neighbours who have had Covid are out of isolation now and OH is still getting a negative test each day after his handshake incident but we have just heard that another friend was taken to hospital with it yesterday. This is the chap OH was taking to hospital for chemo and for eye problems through the earlier lockdowns, but we haven’t seen our friend for a few weeks.
We got away lightly through earlier waves of Covid but this dratted disease seems to have found our corner of Suffolk now and is rife, even spreading amongst people we know have been really careful. I suppose we’ll eventually all acquire some sort of immunity and be able to live some sort of normal life. Roll on that day!

O thats a nuisance Mandy I hope you get it sone quickly as with no proper lights it can be a bit annoying.
Enjoy your afternoon tea Anng and I am sure Inara will be good if there's food around. The mattress is too hard for me and I seem to tense all my muscles up and don't relax and it plays havock with my hip as I only sleep on my right side. I'll get used to it I suppose. You just can't snuggle into it. Sounds like you have all your clothes sorted for when you get home and can just pop them straight in the washing machine.

Afternoon all,
Nice and sunny again with quite a strong wind which makes it feel really cold out.
Ann thats good you managed to get an appointment at the dentist goodness knows when we will get our check ups our dentist is still only doing emergencies and said they would be in touch when they start them . I know when son got his appointment its done like the doctors ring about eight and they will give you an appointment for that day if its urgent.
Mel I wonder whats disturbed your sleep pattern ,you usually drop off no problem .
Yes its very odd not to have heard from Frank its been quite a long time .
Son called in this morning as our fan in the top bathroom won't go off usually after you turn the light off it runs for a while then turns off but it's not so he came to take a look but he could do it so we rang Steve the electrician that has done work for us here and he's coming tomorrow. We were a bit concerned it might over heat if it kept running so we turned it off in the fuse box but it means it turns the main lights off upstairs too so we used the lamps in the bedrooms instead of the main lights .

Good afternoon all, almost packed again although most clothes are in a carrier bag ready for the washing machine. We just had a short drive down to Maryport to get some fresh air but although dry with glimpses of sun it was bitterly cold and we just had a shower of hail stones
This afternoon we are going fir afternoon tea a treat for Grandsons wife’s birthday, should be interesting with Inara and Senua. Inara is always happy when food is involved.
Mel why do you ache? Do you feel ok otherwise? Hope you are not sickening fir anything.. Hope it improves soon. Quiet on here today.

I didn't hear anything from him this Christmas AnnG. We usually get an e card and he tells us when he will be away at Conrad's and how he got on there, but nothing from him for ages now. I do hope he is ok.
Well that's a dentist appointment booked. Not something you want but best to get this tooth sorted. It's the usual procedure, wait in the carpark but ring to let them know you have arrived. Then they ring to tell you to come in and check your temp before you step over the threshold.
OH is sorting some work stuff now and I am looking to order some beads while the sales are on. :-D
