Well obviously all my geraniums are still out but they are all in pots and baskets.

No, there are not a lot of people here at all . Having said that the cafes and restaurants seem to be doing well which is good. It doesn’t feel deserted but neither is it crowded. I don’t feel I have been in contact with lots of people.
Trago Mills was good and had a lot of stuff but was more up market than it used to be.

Annx Report 5 Oct 2022 18:57

Sounds like you had another busy day AnnG. I would have really enjoyed a good mooch round Trago Mills and it's good you found a few bits to buy for Christmas while you were there. Have you found places like Falmouth very busy at this time of the year?

I hope Vera enjoyed her trip out to Hughenden Manor today. I must look it up as I've never heard of it.

Gwyn, OH has to wrap up for the evening school meetings he goes to now as it is chilly as you say. Some have coats and scarves on!

The nights seem to be really drawing in now, but the clocks change again in a few weeks time. I really must get some jobs done tomorrow. Have any of you taken your Geraniums up yet to bring in?

Just been to Penndennis castle and Falmouth Maritime museum. Then Trago Mills shop where we bought Christmas bits for the children. Also had a very nice tapas meal for lunch. One shower of rain while we were inside. Sunshine and blue sky now we are back at the cottage.

Annx Report 5 Oct 2022 17:07

Afternoon All,

We had heavy winds here last night and I could hear the doors and letterbox rattling and it was hot as well. We had rain this morning but all is calm and dry again now.

It was my art course this morning and the teacher is adding more complication for us with colour now.

OH had another disappointing trip to the dentist. After recently taking a tooth out for him at last, the hospital has written to his dentist to request him to do some fillings in OH's teeth, but when OH went for his appointment today the dentist is still refusing to do it, says the teeth need taking out and that the hospital need to do that and is referring him back to the hospital again! It's been over 3 years now that he has been bounced to and fro between the dentist and hospital and each keep saying that the other should do the work he needs doing. I think enough is enough now and will write to Patient Lliason for them to see if they can assist, as OH is just the piggy in the middle being bounced back and forth and nothing being done for him for years while they both dispute who should do the work. It's a disgraceful carry on really as he could be in pain.

OH chucks empty packets and things like that away Mel, but if a biro stops working he will keep it which I don't understand!! lol. He leaves miniscule amounts of things like chutney or picallilli in a jar and puts it back and I'm sure it's so I will have to chuck it out and not him. He does throw out the newspapers and magazines he reads though and goes through his clothes to throw old stuff out.

I hope Mandy is managing ok. Another day less till she loses the plaster.

Gwyn in Kent Report 5 Oct 2022 15:12

I haven't done a lot today Mel.
Did a mid colour wash load, which is now on the drier or hanging on the rail in the bathroom.
The wind is really whistling here, so very soon I will prepare the veg. to go in a warming chicken, pearl barley and vegetable casserole for us, when daughter finishes work later( she's upstairs, at home) There will probably be enough for 2 days, so tomorrow's meal will be easy :-)

Yesterday I went into our local primary school to listen to children read.
I stayed away last week, when I had a heavy cold, but it was good to be back helping out. I have to remember to wear layers, as they are still leaving doors and windows open for ventilation and it can get a bit chilly when sitting still.

Afternoon Gwyn. What have you been up to?

I have just had a bit of a clear up by the garage as its bin day tomorrow and I thought I would take the opp to put some stuff in the bin. Why can't men throw things away?

Hopefully the rain is going to ease off and we will go into Falmouth and possibly the castle.

Thought I'd better do a quick post as I probably won't post tomorrow.. It's been a bit of a hectic day so I didn't get a chance to post earlier. The final straw was making the effort to go to a Ladies Club meeting tonight only to find I was down to do the teas with one other lady who was unwell and didn't come. I had completely forgotten about it. Thankfully everything is provided and someone else gave me a hand but it was a well attended meeting tonight so lots of washing up!

Tomorrow we have an early start as we are on a trip to Hughenden Manor near High Wycombe and the coach leaves the bus station in town at 8.30 am.

I hope you are managing OK Mandy with help from the family and are getting some rest.

Not sure we are talking about the same place Ann. The car park I mean that we used to go to was NT and was not far from the small free car park in the centre by loos and near several small cafes and shops selling stones and various souvenirs. From this larger car park you could walk over the cliffs and down into Kynance or you could walk round the cliff path towards the old lifeboat station in The Lizard village. Looking on google I think that car park is still there but I didn’t get to see as there was a prominent sign to Lizard point And a NT car park which was where we went. Tony and I always walked down this road on the path until we reached the cliff, then walked round the cliff path until we reached the old lifeboat station from this side, then back up and into the centre and on to the large NT car park where we had left the car to eat our pasties and yes they were as good today as when we had them. And I see you can order on line.car park.

Annx

Annx Report 4 Oct 2022 20:26

Mmmm I bet those pasties you used to have with T were tasty AnnG and cornish icecream too. I have a feeling we have used the NT carpark with the long narrow approach road too. It's ok till something comes the opposite way. It has a little cafe and toilets behind the carpark and you can walk down towards the big cafe on the right and the beach, but it's quite a steep path. I didn't know of another carpark where you can see the beach......is it at the big cafe you can see from the carpark at the top?

It's a shame the Factory shop didn't have the tops you wanted in the colours you like Mel. It's always pot luck what they happen to have though.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Oct 2022 18:25

Went and bought chickens food this afternoon and half filled the car up with deisel. Had a quick look in the factory shop but they did'nt have any polo necked long sleeved cotton tops in good colours just white black and a miserable orangey brown. Thats the colour that makes you look ill I always think. I have had lovely colours in the past, mauve, cherry red, navy and black and grey also i think I bought a nice dark mauve one last year or early this year.

Have done myself a nice egg, ham and cheese salad for tonight with cue my toms romain lettuce and carrot. Forgot to put spring onion on the list!!!

Still can't get poor Mnady out of my head, keep wondering how hse is coping.

Sounds like you had a nice day today Anng having T's favorite pasties and a nice icecream. I forgot to have lunch before I went out as it was rather lateish but I hav'nt missed it and I resisted lots of nice chocolate in Mole Valley as they have their Christmas stuff in. They had a lovely tin with chickens on the front I thought would be nice for Di but it had fudge in it and I know she dos'nt like that. She prefers savory things.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 4 Oct 2022 17:11

It has stayed bright and dry with a strong warm breeze today. We did get to the Lizard and enjoyed T’s favourite pasties. But I was a bit disappointed that daughter and SiL didn’t believe me when I directed them to the NT car park we always used and chose to follow directions to another one which we had always avoided because of the very narrow approach road.anyway we sat there to eat our pasties then left the Lizaed for I think it was Portscatho where we had a walk round and an ice cream.

The car park we used to use was where you can look down on the little bay and beach below. (kynance Cove).

Ann’s pasties now belongs to the son and they have been sold from a shop for the past year instead of from the house. And there are also shops in several other towns and villages they are still as good.

Annx Report 4 Oct 2022 14:55

Morning All,

Cloudy, quite dull but windy and 17 degrees here but it feels colder. One wash is dry and put away but the bedding will have to wait as rain is forecast for later and tomorrow.

I don't get any text messages from Asda Mel, just emails. I think we will be getting more subs this autumn as the shortages we were warned about seem to have started. I can't seem to get my Options white chocolate drink from Asda or the Co-op now and I noticed there were hardly any biscuits at the Co-op yesterday. I'll have to see what my delivery this weekend brings!

A few more of OH's meetings this week have decided to go online so he will be zooming mostly which suits him fine rather than be sitting on child seats and driving down dark lanes at night. They tend to be quicker online too and with the time saved travelling he will be able to watch a match he wants to see tonight.

You are right Gwyn about OH's filling spaces as we clear them! Because of all of OH's books we have designated bookcases and shelving. I've noticed that anything we both use like the NT book, dictionaries, atlases and street guides eg seem to find their way to my shelves! :-) He does the same with CD storage and records and acts all surprised when I find them. lol.

I hope it stayed dry for you AnnG. The Lizard can be a bit wild when it rains. I like the little gem stone shops there at a place you can park on the green in the middle. Gunwalloe is on the way I think and the Church of the Storms is quite interesting being almost on the beach.

May nip to the shop for a paper next then change the bed and do some dusting.......what an exciting day!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Oct 2022 13:01

5 subs today and they all went back. Sent round rolls instead of finger rolls laughing cow light cheese triangles instead of Dairylea two huge heads of broccoli instead of the tender stream a sweet butter pastry case instead of a savory one so I should have a £5 something refund. What I did keep did'nt hardly fill the bottom of my plastic box.

Neighbours called round this morning just as I had got dressed and that was a bit of luck as I had been going from room to room naked collecting what I was going to wear today. :-0 We chatted for quite a while.

The suns out here now and its not too cold out. Washing machine is busy and nearly finished so that can go out on the line and there's a bit of a breeze so it could dry quite well.

Hope Mandy had a better night last night and is'nt getting too bored with just sitting around and watching a bit of telly. There's not much more she can do with both wrists out of action. Sound slike the girls are helping though.
