How very odd :-S There certainly seems to be some sort of gremlin on the line between you and AnnG, Mel. If she had accidentally blocked you she wouldn't have been receiving your emails, would she?

Just out of interest in case I or OH have a similar problem I did a lot of googling this afternoon both for answers from BT and from Outlook. Very few of the answers seemed relevant to me except for one on Outlook which is the one I found before and that's a doddle to use. In case anyone else goes through Outlook and has the problem: blocked emails go into the junk folder, so if you click on Junk in the ribbon bar at the top you can block or unblock emails, or click on junk options to see your list of blocked senders.

Outlook is from Microsoft and comes with Microsoft Office which is often preloaded on to computers when you buy them. Once upon a time everyone seemed to have Outlook but I think a lot of people are using Gmail now. They are both "email clients" and as I hadn't got a clue what that is I googled

"What is an Email Client? An Email Client is a desktop program that allows users to access their emails on their computer without having to log in via the web. They are linked to email accounts through POP3 or IMAP addressing. This means they can handle email for accounts with ISPs and other non-webmail services"

Sorry, I didn't mean to lecture you but I find it intriguing that we all use our computers differently and I hate not understanding what tools do.

Mel As I said when I replied to you I have never blocked anyone. But your subsequent emails look as though something is fixed. did you get the photo I sent to you? I didn't reply straight away as I was out.

I'm not on outlook either as far as I know.

AnninGlos Report 27 Sep 2022 09:52

I have had to sign into my account when accessing it on a computer in Tenerife/Lannzarote but that was quite a while ago. Occasionally if my PC has been off line I get a request from google to sign in to my account. I am not with outlook and neither are any of my family.

SuffolkVera

SuffolkVera Report 27 Sep 2022 09:47

I have never had to sign in to any account to access my emails AnnG, even before we were with BT. I assume it depends on how you account is set up but I think the majority of people are on Outlook, as we are. I know I found out how to do it before and it was easy once you discovered the method. I’ll have a look later, probably this afternoon as I am also out this morning.

Mel, when you read your emails what do they open in? Is it Outlook?

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Sep 2022 09:45

Morning all,

It 14 degrees here according to the pc and partly sunny which is just about right.

I am on BT and I went into setting and got nothing like you said Anng.

Shoppings coming this mroring and just one sub.

I don't have tim eto fiddle around with the pc this morning but have lots to sort out today.

AnninGlos Report 27 Sep 2022 09:25

I think it just means open your email account Vera, I don't think many people sign in daily. But that is how I read it
I think it means finding settings in your email account. But if you can't understand it either than obviously not very clear instructions. I actually googled "how to unblock a contact on btinternet" and quite a lot came up.

as I am not on BT maybe it would be easier to understand if you were to google exactly the same as I did Vera to help Mel. There are quite a few answers to the question by other people. Maybe it is not as straightforward as it sounds at first.

I am out this morning so don't have any time to look into it further at the moment.

Morning

Boy, it was cold last night. The first time since last winter that I’ve really felt cold.. iPad is telling me it’s currently 6 degrees but feels like 3. Brrr..

Tbh, AnnG, I’m with BT too and I don’t understand those instructions. “Sign in to your BT Mail account” ? Does that mean on the BT website? I don’t know where you would sign in otherwise. I did work out.for Mel before how to do it, assuming that she is using Outlook. I can’t remember now what I did. I’m out for a while later but I’ll have another play on the computer when I get back.

AnninGlos Report 27 Sep 2022 07:37

good morning all 8 degrees here, fairly bright and dry so far.

I was thinking, as I got up at 0700, when I was working, (only about 10 minutes walk down the road from here), I would be up at 0645 and in work by 0740. Can't imagine actually doing that now.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 27 Sep 2022 07:31

I don't understand that Mel, if you don't have a list anywhere how did you accidentally block me?
Have you looked in settings? and maybe then mail?
I got that information on google and it refers directly to btinternet which you are on.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 26 Sep 2022 21:32

Mel

To check your Blocked Senders list

Sign in to your BT Mail account from a computer.

From the Settings tab, select the Blocked senders folder.
Look for the email address you want to remove and if you find it, select it in the list.
Select Delete.
Select Save.

It was'nt in there very long Mandy as I had been out there a while before and there was no noise then.

Ann have you tried a kettle of boiling water on those weeds. Someone gave me, years ago, a Walt Plant. Gosh it ran all thoeugh the gravel on the end of the patio and I could'nt put weed killer down cos the big pond is only a whisker away. I did that with boiling water and got rid of it but now I see it has come up along the edge of the decking round that pond. Its also in the flower bed on the right of the steps down to the garden and I can't put a kettle on that as there are bulbs and plants in there too.

Evening all

Dry morning after heavy rain in the night ,I just about got my washing dry as it started getting very black at lunch time so as it was nearly dry I got if in and five minutes later down it came.
I had a good hoover through this morning and we brought in the log basket ,we have had a few fires in the evenings as it just takes the chill off .

I loved all the Enid Blyton books and still have lots in the cupboard but naughty Mandy has coloured some of the pictures in .

Vera sounds as if the painter has made a good start and maybe by the weekend you might be back to normal again.

Oh Mel poor little blue tit I wonder how long he'd been in there ,thank goodness you heard him and let him out .

We had our new little rechargeable flood light arrive yesterday from Amazon ,we thought we'd get one in case we get a rough winter and the electric goes off ,we use to have a rechargeable fluorescent light but that went wrong and we dumped it .
This new one is ideal ,son had one and they are nice and bright not very big it has a little stand so we'd be able to stand it on the mantle piece or they have a bit so you can hang it up.

No rain here.just the shower last night.

One of my favourite presents for birthdays and Christmas was a book token. I just loved being able to go and choose books.
