Well yes we did eventually manage to go out so went to Dobbies, not been there for a while so had coffee and a scone then bought a few plants a geranium for an empty pot and an Osteospernum for another empty pot. and six dianthus. Have to plant them tomorrow as it is raining now. On the way back to mine we called in to friends so that I could have a look at her garden. Got back here at 4pm (went out at 1.45). She then had to go with her adult daughter to the dentist as she has a dental phobia. anyway I came home with some raspberries from her garden for after my meal which is nice.

There was a new lot of tiny ducklings today, so there is quite a gang of different sized baby ducks and Moorhens now. I noticed the ducks don't grab the bread off their own babies which is something. The Moorhens seem to know to hang about near the bank foliage now and I make sure they get a share. All of the wild flowers around the Ice House had been cut down since my last visit which seems a bit premature as they were still flowering. I used the Treck insect repellant, but think I will go back to using the Deet one. I sprayed it on my arms and it came out in blobs not a fine spray and some squirted over my top. I squirted it on my hand then and rubbed it on the back of my ankles. This was all very well, until I had it on my hands and realised it was oily. :-( So all the blobs and squirts on my top didn't dry out. I hope it comes out in the wash. Almost all the dogwalkers say hello as they pass by and I'm sure 2 men with alsations were police dog handlers. Very tall and fit looking with confidence as if they are used to speaking to the public and they were wearing black sleeveless jackets with various pockets.

OH did his speech and said he thoroughly enjoyed it and joined the panel after who were answering questions. Not connected with this, he has been asked by 2 other councils today to apply for work they are offering. Both are about 40 miles away so I'm not sure he'll take them up. He has more than enough to do really.

I've finished my painting and emailed it and sent it to the teacher so will see what he says.

I wonder if AnnG managed to go out to anywhere nice with her friend.

Just cleaned the kitchen drain out and the smell reminded me of going in the swiming baths, bleach and soda crystals.

Good morning AnnG and all

15 degrees and very overcast here. I slept a bit better last night. I’ve no plans for the day but plenty to do and I need to pop out and stock up on birthday cards as I’ve got several birthdays coming up in July.

Enjoy your mystery trip out AnnG.

Morning All,

Here I am and I didn't realise I hadn't posted for so long. I was busy on this last painting yesterday and did some weeding and planted radish seeds and cooked lunch and then the printer ran out of ink so I changed that and ordered some more, helped OH with something and the day just went!

So sorry to hear your OH has an infection now Vera and I hope the antibiotics soon get to work for him. At least the doc seems to be on the case in getting another scan done, so I hope the results are through quickly this time. It doesn't help with you having an iffy back either so be careful not to upset it.

OH had a poor night with a headache and stiff neck so didn't sleep much. He keeps getting the same but a nurse told him it is arthritis. Just what he didn't want with having this speech to do today. I was awake from 4.00am so got up at 7.00am and cleaned the kitchen tops and hoovered through. Having a COT now, then will tweak my painting in the good daylight, then if my L knee is still ok may do the walk before my shower and hairwash.

It's a shame about Daisy Mel, but like others have said, she had a wonderful home with you. Some new ones will have just the same and give you more eggs to build up your stocks. I wish I lived nearer and could buy some! No subs this time was good and the birds had a surprise treat with the pastry case. :-) Hope your bites aren't too itchy, which reminds me I must put some repellant on before I go walking.

I bet you are glad the first half of the deep clean is done AnnG. I used to hate having it done and thought it would damage my teeth sometimes with all the vibration and deepness of it.

It's forecast rain here, but is sunny now so I think I will get my trainers on and get going before it gets too hot. I will get a paper on the way back and maybe some strawberries.

Good morning all sunny here and 13 degrees so a a bit warmer again and going up to 19.

Not sure what I am doing today, I have nothing planned but friend wants to have a trip out, only problem is she has a few things happening so we need to be flexible as to timing to fit everything in, so it is 'wait and see!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Jun 2022 23:09

Poor oh Vera I hope he can get some comfort from the antibiotics but know they take a little while to kick in. You have been busy doing all that as well as dealing with your oh.

I did'nt have any subs with my order today too. Another different driver as well. The only thing was that the pastry case I ordered was as usual smashed so he refunded me for that and left it with me so it went straight in the bird feeder and they enjoyed it.

Glad you are ok, if tired Vera. I hope OH is better from taking the antibiotic.b

SuffolkVera Report 28 Jun 2022 22:08

Apart from not sleeping much at the moment and my back being very iffy I’m fine. Thanks for your concern. I hope Ann is OK too.

I meant to post yesterday but I must have forgotten. I was busy in the morning getting cheesecakes made and frozen ready for a family party in Norwich in a couple of weeks. In the afternoon I had a Sainsbury delivery to cover the next 3 weeks so that took a while. Nothing missing and no subs :-)

Today has been a bit hectic. OH has another health problem and was not very good this morning. He couldn’t get through to our surgery so rang 111. They arranged for our GP surgery to ring us before 4 pm. One of the doctors rang about 2.30 and said if OH could get into the main surgery in town he would see him straight away. He thinks OH has an infection and has put him on a strong antibiotic for two weeks but, to be on the safe side, is referring him for yet another scan. What with that and having to do the washing I didn’t do yesterday, getting some paperwork done and taking a couple of long phone calls from a friend and from daughter, the day has flown.

You are doing well with your veg Mandy and the cues and beans look so lovely and fresh and tasty.

AnnG, I hope your deep clean wasn’t too painful for you.

Sorry to hear about Daisy Mel. She had a good home with you.

I’m feeling quite tired now so will wish you all goodnight.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 28 Jun 2022 20:47

I had not realised we didn’t see Ann or Vera yesterday and again today so far. Hope all is well there.

Mandy I thought people would remember from past times, sorry. I have injections for the deep clean so can only have one side if my mouth done at a time so it takes two appointments at £30 a time.

Oh poor daisy Mel but she has had a good life with you looking after her.

That was disappointing for the children after all their hard work making the flags.

It turned realy miserable this afternoon with plenty of the wet stuff so everything is soaked and it even blew in my shed as I had left the top door open.

Had my soar ear yesterday and still got it a bit today and have to keep remembering not to scratch it or rub it when it itches.

I went and corne dthe chickens just now and there in the run stone dead was Daisy. I shall miss her but she ws'nt well a while ago and she had a prolaps she has pushed an egg out and there was lots of blood but I thought it had gone back in. She had'nt eaten today and had looked a bit down over the past couple of days. I think its time to sort out the other two really old ones and buy a couple more maybe three this time thne I would have 5 new ones.

Evening all
It's been a really lovely sunny day ,a few clouds at times and a little wind but just nice to sit out and have a cuppa .

Anng hope the deep clean wasn't to uncomfortable for you ,you said the first so how many cleans do you have to have .

Oh not another bite Mel ,have you hot any bite cream that reminds me I meant to get a tube of bite cream when I went into boots and forgot , I went in to see if they could give me some cream to put on a stye that has appeared on my right eyelid ,yesterday it had come to a head with a nasty white head on it ,this morning I forgot it was there and rubbed my eye which burst the spot on it so now it feels a bit sore , she said there's no cream but the best thing to do is hold a hot compress on the eye which should help it .

I picked some more Cobra beans today and a few runners that were the first ones big enough .
I also picked 6 more mini cues and 2 of the bigger ones .

There was a parade in the town today the first Dragoon Guards were given the freedom of the town so were marching through town at supposedly 11.30 but when son went with the school someone said it was all over ,it started an hour early so the poor children missed it and they had all made flags to wave too ,looks like somebody made a mistake when they printed the posters, probably not many people lining the streets either .

I used John Innis number 2 for potting on and it is peat free.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Jun 2022 14:49

I don't use peat free compost as far as I know but what I have is John Innes multip I get from Mole Valley. I always mix in some J I no 1 or 2 or 3 depending on what I am growing or growing on. I also mix a little perlite in it as that hold moisture which a lot of the composts now seem to dry out very very quickly. I do find with some of the composts now you get a lot of either dead grass cuttings or pine needles and bits of wood.
