Evening All,

Oh dear David, timing belts breaking can be very expensive as the whole engine can need stripping down, valves can be damaged and piston rods break. That's why it is vital to have them changed when it says, but manufacturers have not always advised them to be changed soon enough. Check your service book and see when it was last changed. I do hope you have been lucky and escaped damage. They replaced the chain drive that used to be used which was much noisier.

Mine went in transit.
I heard a sudden grind noise. For some reason I thought I had a blow out and what I'd heard was the rim on the road.
I got out,had a look,tyres OK,got back in,turned key in ignition,heard a grind.
I "thought" the stater motor had gone.
Phoned AA who were there in 20 minutes.
Operator said it was the timing belt without a doubt.

Timing belt I think keeps the valves and rockers in time with the pistons.
When the valves stop and the the pistons keep on going the result is the pistons break your valves, knacking your engine.

STILL no baby then Anne! I bet you keep thinking every phone call will mean action stations!

Mel, there will be plenty of time to plant stuff when you get home from your hols won't there. Not being funny, and don't tell him I suggested this, but have you checked for that key in your OH's pockets and places he might have left it? lol

The garden centres are very good for food, especially if they are part of the gardening club and you have a membership card. Not only do you get points and then vouchers towards the cost of plants, they have food offers too. We are going to one tomorrow for breakfast as they have a 2 for 1 offer on it at the moment. Last summer we had a cream tea offer 2 for 1 that was delicious, with choice of sandwich fillings and 2 scones with jam and cream each. I could just fancy one now. lol

We have been doing our letter to the council about that planning application today.......depressing!!

May be for the best then Liz, just keep looking and be ready when something better comes along. You need to feel 100% sure.

Years ago my brother Ralph and I went to our allotment.
I let us in by opening the chained padlock.
We closed the gate and I stopped Ralph in his tracks.
What have we done with the keys?
My house key were on the same key ring.
We got down on all fours looking for them on the ground,no luck.
We stood up turned around,
I'd left them in the lock.

Oh gosh I can remember doing timing chains with my last OH. When I bought my present car OH insisted it have a new cam belt on it before I paid for it. I had one not long ago as well. I have a ball joint gone on the nearside which will be done with my MOT. It was only noticable after I had the tracking done a few weeks ago with my new tyres. What annoys me is that once I have these ball joints done he has to do the tracking again!!! More Expense!!!!! As Frank would say...................

Been up the border all afternoon and about just after 7pm OH said that was enough and it was time to come in. I am sitting here having a well earned glass of red which is quite unusual for me at this time of the evening.

Evening all
Well done to young Polly! You must feel very proud of her Liz.
Can't talk much tonight as my tooth seems to be really bothersome. It's throbbing like mad.I would have thought the antibiotics should be doing the trick by now.
Just watching the final of Dancing on Ice and then I think I will take myself off to bed with my book.

I don't think this baby wants to come out !!!!!It must feel very comfortable where it is lol

Night Night xx

Do you think some garages looking for work.
They always seem to find some and you can't argue with them either.

Having said that I had an aquaintance who had a brand new Toyota.
When he put it in for the 6000 mile service he checked under the bonnet.
Nothing had been done, not even the oil changed.
Yet he had an itemised bill detailling work plus a few hours labour plus VAT.
He played hell with the brach manager and got another brand new car.

Have been spring cleaning our bedroom, that's when the dust shows up because of the sun. OH moved the bed and hoovered under there as well.
I changed the sheets and quilt & pillow cases and now everything is smelling sweet & fresh.

Morning All,

Another promising day day here but skies a bit hazy at present but the sun is shining.

Where is that baby?? Still no news and we seem to have been waiting forever. What must mum feel like? Poor girl. Do give her our love Anne please and tell her we are all on tenter hooks.

Don't know whether to go shopping today or stay at home and get back up the border. The front lawns look nice now OH has mowed them. I need to do the edges but can't find the edging shears. Thats the trouble with a huge garden if you leave something somewhere you can't find it later. I am usually quite good with them and put them back in the uti room but I went there for them and they were'nt there. Bet OH had them last and left them where he used them.

Morning Mel and all

If it is going to be a nice day I would stay at home if I were you Mel.I bet you have enough grub in to keep you going for a while.
We had quite a frost this morning.I heard Chris scraping the windscreen.
It is lovely and sunny now,so I bet get some washing on the go.

I had a good sleep last night and my tooth behaved after having a stronger pain killer.

I hope Baby arrives this week !!!

See JANE, it wasn't just me. I reported it to GR so perhaps they have sorted it..

Just fell headlong into the flower boarder in the back garden. The lawn is getting out of shape, so I have put a board down and cut a new edge. Moved the board along bent over to see it was straight, and over I went, a few words were said on the way down.!!!! I called for my neighbour, he didn't hear me. (ROS IS OUT) I crawled up the lawn to the steps and managed to pull myself up on the wall. Fell very giddy now, so come in to see whats going on. here

You can't get hold of me via GR as my Emails are on old computer, and can't open the WEB. only Emails sent to frankbedford etc. I see there is one from JANE and Mel. Sorry girls can't access them.

Having five minutes break then back to the garden. !!!!

Morning All,

Quite misty here first thing, but lovely sun now. I couldn't help but notice how fast the trees and shrubs are greening up and all the blossom there is. Doesn't it make you feel good.

I meant to say well done to Polly Liz. She must have worked hard to become that good!! A friend of mine has an 11 year old daughter who is very sporty and brilliant at swimming. She travels all over the place with her to galas. She was a 3rd child at the age of 40 and my friend still works full time too so doesn't get much spare time. I think she said her daughter's swimsuits are about £100 and don't last very long because of the chlorine in the water. It sounds to me as if you have made the right choice if you are feeling relief.

I am out in the garden next to do some marking out!! OH is doing errands and then he will be topping up the veg boxes with soil later and helping me.

I shall be having a go at the bathroom tiles too as they need it around the bit where the shower is. They are white satin finish, not gloss, so are harder to clean. I've tried washing soda on them, which helped , but Ci*llit cleaner seems better, but I always worry that it may turn the grout another colour or harm the bath!!

Frank!! Be careful and don't overdo it today.

Back again.
Frank I think an easy afternoon is in order for you !I don't think we will get any decent sun today, but we could really do with a bit of that wet stuff that fall from the sky.The ground is sooooooo dry.We are having to water things.

I have done a bit of weeding on the patio, but have come in as I forgot I had taken the hoover upstairs to hoover my bedroom walls. It's those blasted cobwebs lol.So I better get that done NOW before I go off track and start something else that I won't finish lol

Liz it's always nice to have a cheque to pop in the bank lol.I'm glad things are a bit more relaxed for you. Will you just keep your place on the Market and still have a look for somewhere new?

Ooh! the sun is just coming out .It will probably vanish in a 'mo .My washing doesn't seem to be drying as well as the other day.I think it will be finished off in the Tumble D.
Right ,beware cobwebs Here I come !

Oh we are back on target now.

Have just found the trailer key in the ash of the bonefire. I went over to the bank at the side of the orchard and planted some primroses and with the trowel I had a little scrap through the ashes OH had raked the other day and saw the ring, pulled it out and the key was on it!! Looks a bit rusty but think it is ok and have given it a scrub.

not gone shopping as want to get back to the border.

Next step Mel, is to get a couple of keys cut, and put away somewhere safe !!!!! in case you loose it again.

Jane, We have had sunshine all day here. Have finished cutting the lawn edge with the half moon cutter. Mowed both back and front lawns, and trimmed round
with the shears. Looks nice and fresh now. The shrubs are now starting to flower and trees around the neighbours are in bloom. Our cherry tree shouldn't be too long now That looks great when in full blossom.

I'm finished for the day now, Feel a bit like "ELVIS" all shook up.!!!! Will have a read for an hour then see about dinner.

It's actually sun bathing weather here went outside with a cup of tea, two hours later thought I'd better come in and have lunch. So not really got much done., oh well, tomorrow's another day. My motto is: always put off today what you can do tomorrow .......

You certainly have to watch these garages David, my son took his Ni**an van in for a service, when he went to pick it up they said they had to replace the brake pads, he asked for the old ones, when they brought them out there was still a lot of life left in them. All they offered him was to put his old ones back on .....cheek ...... and that's the Ni**an dealers not some little back street garage.
