Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Apr 2011 09:00

Good morning David and all,

White Rabbits!!! and a pinch and a punch for the 1st of the month.

I wonder what will happen today??

Wet wet wet this morning. Old Phil Pheasent has been outside with his two wives but I have'nt been out yet to feed them.

Thanks for the pics Shirl. Who was it reflected in your sunglasses taking the photo of you and your daughter? Was it your son? Nice clear pics for the threadateers album.

Anne sorry to hear the pills did'nt work which means another week I suppose!

Ann I have often wondered about buying a couple of those obelisks for the border to give it some height. Perhaps the hard winter did the clematis some good too. Do you chop it back each year after flowering? Does it flower in the summer or through the summer?

Fiona hope the throat is a bit easier today. My dad always gargled with TCP with water added to it.

Anne.James just rang a couple of minutes ago.He is on his way to his very last lecture !!.He still has some tutorials etc and has to present his disertation (SP) I think next week and yes it will be swot swot swot.I think he may come home in a couple of weeks for a visit.I haven't seen him since he went back just after New Year.

10.54am.

Good morning all, from a very cold and windy Northampton. They said we were to get 20 degrees today, don't know how they can get it so wrong.

Shirl, LEEK PIE. Chop up the leeks and give them a good wash. Take about 3/4lb of chopped pork. Put in saucepan with stock, add leeks and simmer After about an half hour Spoon out the. leeks and pork into shallow baking dish about 12". Cover till cool. Then put in a pie chick in the middle of dish and cover with puff pastry. paint with egg yoke and bake for 20/30 minutes put a small amount of liquid into the dish before covering. We just do mashed potatos with it

Mel, do you get a lot of baby pheasants around in late spring. A frien of ours has a large pond in the garden, and have four ducks down two/three times a day for food. She's hoping they find a nesting spot in the flower boarder.

On the local news the other evening, a chap went to sort out his hanging basket and found a DUCK EGG. The next day there were SEVEN. I think they are going to lower it closer to the ground later so the CHICKS don't fall to far when they hatch. There is a stream nearby.

Fiona, The local restaurants must love you, the time you spent in them.

Have taken photo's of ducks and bunnies but as I haven't
got Email on here yet I can'tsend them. On the old computer I have Email but no Web connection. Will I be glad when Son comes and sorts it out.

Frank they say this afternoon will be nice about 19 degrees. It's cloudy and windy and quite dark at the moment.
Yesterday afternoon and evening the house on the end of Warkton Lane/Barton Rd was all sealed off by police. They closed the road from St Botolphs Rd right up to your old house by the traffic lights.I don't know what is is all about so I am off to get the ET and see if there is anything in there.

You must let me know what you find out SHERLOCK. A murder or Drug den ????

Still very overcast here and veeeeeerrrrryyyy windy, I keep thinking the roof is coming of the conservatory. !!!!!

Can't bring myself to do anything today. been sitting reading my book..

Ros has just poped up to Tesc#. I think It will be an easy meal tonight. I just don't feel like cooking. Perhaps Fish and Chips. !!!!

TCP was allways used on scraps and sore knees. Was it Dettol that turned MILKY colour when put in water. ??? I know Mum sometimes used that. I would put TCP on cold sores, it didn't half make you jump !!!

Hi Everyone
Having an at home day today. It is dry overcast but warm and the wind has dropped. Have been sorting out some space in the snug for all my family research folders which were in danger of taking over.Have sorted some old books to go to the coffee morning next week and hubby now sorting out lots of birding information some of which he has had for years. Bless him he is full of cold today so we are hoping that the baby does not arrive for the next couple of days so he can recover.
My dad was a great fan of TCP but I also hate the smell although it does seem to work.
Frank I do like the sound of leek pie I shall try it one day. Mind you I have not made the banana icecream yet but I will I promise.
Tonight we are having vegetable lasagne and salad so that will not take long.
Mel When are you going on your boat trip? It must be soon now.

Ohhhh ,wonder whats gone on there Jane !!!

Just hovered and dusted the bedrooms , where does all the dust come from ,we only use one bedroom but the other two are just as dusty !!!!!

Does anyone do a spring clean any more , i remember mum used to fling the windows open and every thing was washed down , rugs were beaten and hung over the line to get some air ,winter curtains came down and summer ones went up .
I remember mum had Moth Balls in the cupboards ,another thing that used to stink !!! lol

I've got a curtain here that keep's looking at me, it needs turning up , DIL's mother gave her these curtains ,one pair and a door curtain, DIL has two windows in their bedroom and wants the door curtain turned up to go up the smaller window , i've got to turn it up by hand as my sewing machine has packed up , it needs to go to Norwich and its to heavy for me to take, so i've got to wait for hubby to take it for me .

Time for a cuppa and five minutes with my book.

Forgot to ask if anyone was listening to Ken Bruce this morning on radio2. I am sure it was someone else doing an April Fool day spoof. If not then he must have had a very heavy night last night.

Jane

Jane Report 1 Apr 2011 13:58

Miss Marple reporting(she was Jane I think) lol
Well it is still all go at that house men in their white paper outfits with hoods, and plenty of uniforms .It still hasn't been on the news or in the ET.It seems from what I hear is that it could be a Drug Den and money laundering thing.
There was some kind of explosive material which is why the Bomb Squad were there last night and why the road was shut.I was going to try and get a photo for you Frank but thought I might have looked a bit suspicious lol.

It looks like it may be brightening up a bit now.Fingers crossed.

BBL (if the internet doesn't crash again) it seems to happen in the afternoons.

It also made you jump if you put on a grazed knee!! I used to like the TCP throat pastels you used to be able to get but like everything else they changed them to a hard boiled sweet thing that dos'nt taste of TCP at all. They were the only thing I could use for a sore throat that worked for me.

Now I gargle if I can find the time.

Jane Report 1 Apr 2011 15:24

I like the smell of TCP.But another smell I like even better is Dettol .That smell really reminds me of childhood.

Anne stick a mask on quick and lock your OH up!You don't want his cold now.
I hope his clears up quickly and that you escape it.

Chester is getting plenty of excercise this afternoon. He has his nose on the patio window and each time he spots a bunny he flies out the back door(which I have left open)and hares off down the lawn and skids up to the hedge where they disappear under. Most dogs I think would scrabble under to keep following. But no,this one just turns round struts back in and takes up his position again lol

Off to give the front door a wash.It looks filthy.

The sun has made a very brief appearance, hope tomorrow is better. Been over sons house for the past two days sanding skirting boards and architraves and varnishing. My work is done ..... they are almost ready to move in, carpets going down tomorrow and a few bits and pieces to finish, but I am done, apart from son's partner's little girl who would like a painting for her bedroom of flowers and butterflies, so it's out with the art brushes and away with the DIY brushes. Must say it looks fantastic, son's partners good taste and son's knowhow to put it all together. I'm still acheing, and I'm sure I've got housemaids knees, they are really sore, never mind, I can relax now, they can spoil me on Sunday.

Maureen I think you deserve a medal for all the work you have put in with helping your son. They must think you a star.I hope you are treated to a Wonderful Mothers Day.
Look down a few posts and you will see what I posted about the police !You must have missed it lol.I don't know why it hasn't been on the news yet.The house involved is a large one.It was sold to developers a couple of years ago ,but recently has been looking quite unkempt, and I noticed that the curtains upstairs always seemed shut.My James used to have a friend who lived in that house
.I have a nice sparkling white door now Mel and a few clean skirting boards.
