Yes Julie ann she will be 20 in July.........have found out through my family history research that it is also the same day of my Gr Gr grandfather on my mothers side, he was born 13th July 1837, so was one of the first ones to be registered as registeration only started on 1st July 1837, and his son { my gr grandfather} was born the same day as me on June 10th., its quite a coincidence isn`t it..?

I can clearly remember the 1990 World cup...

Heavily pregnant with my middle daughter who was due on June 29th..........she finally arrived on July 13th....noone could believe at the time i wasn`t sent in to Labour by that Semi final game.....Gazzas tears and everything..... the whole excitment and suspense of it all......but she hung on in there till the 13th, they were going to induce me that day as I would have been 14 days overdue but she started off naturally..{ the only one of mine that did..}

Used to go to some part of Italy every year for our holidays.
1990 the OH decided Italy would be crowded so we went to Austria instead.
We have been in Italy when big matches were on, and enjoyed the atmosphere, with the Italians getting so excited

1990 was a bad year for me - personal issues plus lots of stress at work. I can't remember what I was doing at this time, but things did get better in the autumn, when I went on my first trip to Italy (Rome and Florence on my own). It was great and made up for some of the bad bits of the year!

Oh, I'll be watching this year, Elizabeth. Just as I watch Manchester United every Saturday or Sunday morning.

We're just hoping that it doesn't interfere with our Coronation Street, as the CBC carries both world cup and Corrie. Every year we lose a couple of weeks of Corrie when it's the final final final playoffs for the Stanley Cup ... which I think are coming up soon. Good lord, you would think hockey would be over by June, would you not??

Oh. We're on game six of seven for the Stanley Cup tonight. I guess becaues Corrie is on earlier here now, it's not getting bumped!

Dear All

Hello

Thank you for your replies.

Dear Theresa......aww that's lovely. I know a lot of people who married in the summer of 1990.

Dear Janey........shame about the football! but hockey will do just fine!
Black and white TV, ah those were the days!

Dear Julie.....aww, that's lovely too. While England were trying to construct a game, you had created new life. Very welcome.

Where has the time gone?

Take care all
Very best wishes

No clue - football (soccer) didn't enter my life until No.1 did. ;)

But (and even though I detest hockey) I can tell you where I was for Paul Henderson's goal in Canada-Russia '72!

Killing time between classes, drinking vodka and lemonade because I couldn't afford orange juice, black and white TV with no cable ... nothing to do but watch the darned game. ;)

Dear All

Hello

Hope you are keeping well.

20 years ago today, the football World Cup began in Italy.

The summer was filled with magical moments:

"Nessun Dorma" sang by Mr Pavorotti................
Cameroon beating Argentina in the opening match.......................
David Platt's last minute goal against Belgium....................
Ireland beating Romania in a late afternoon penatly shoot out..................................

The England match against Germany..............more penalty shoot outs!

The final itself with Argentina and Germany.

Where you at this time?

Take care all
Very best wishes
