I sort of understand about not posting about the same family twice

But if I wanted to find out about my great grandads brothers family and I already had a post on my grandad.

Do I add the question to that one or start another thread

sorry if it is a silly question but i just wanted to make sure

Post another thread ,its a different person you want info on,

,,,,and dont be intimidated by being told you already posted this surname once,you may have done ,but not about the person you want info on.

Hi Debbie for a start no one on here can tell you what you can and cant do, there are a lot of volunteers who will help you , they get confused at the same question being asked on different boards but not different threads about a different person in same family, as sometimes if there a few posts on one of the threads some may think your question as been added, hope you enjoy posting all i need is a saucer of milk now and again xxxx

Debbie, I would usually say post on the same thread rather than a new one...and here's why...nothing to do with 'should' or otherwise :)

Update the title to 'further query' or similar...and why I ( personally) would do that is from experience there is usually an 'overlap' of records, eg you have to go back to come forward, like knowing from the one census where they were born, just saves time , whether there is a name on one census ( maybe the brother visiting) that you can't find 'where it should be'...

but it's up to you lol "you pays your money and takes your choice'

Personally I'd post a new thread (after all it is a new query) but perhaps if there is an overlap of records -I'd put a link to the previous thread so people can see what has already been done.

Well that does make sence but the only thing that bothers me is

If their has been a few replies on the previous Thread I think it may put people of looking at the tread but on the other hand all the information is already their regarding their decendents

So im really confused

Just write on your new thread what you all ready have on said person/s you want more info on,,,,,,,,,that way it wont be repeated from your last thread,,,,,,,and you wont get humiliating posts aimed at you,,,,,,,,}}}

Do it either way but if you update the title people wont be put off by a large number of posts already on the thread.
