Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 26 Sep 2010 15:54

Our SIL suffered with it from an early age. she was told they didnt know why but thought it was autoimmune problem. All efforts and treatments only bought some relief that may have been respite anyway. She still has outbreaks that are very widespread on her arms and legs.

My daughter suffers with psoriasis,
she started getting it after she married a controling bully,
l've seen her bleed from the scalp and all round her ears, her whole body except her face is covered and l've seen her cry with the pain, she has had loads of hospital appointments and is now back to having the baths at the hospital ( not sure whats in them).
My daughter has now divorced the bully after 20 years of marriage and hopefully when she sells the house and moves back down here the psoriasis will slowly disappear (when she first left him she lived with us for 6 months and it was going) but he still phones her everyday even though he has another partner as he can't seem to want to lose the control over her.
So l pray that one day she will be free on this awful skin complaint.

Ginny my son has this BUT he also suffers with the chronic arthritis that "can" come with it ...hes 21!! he will probably need a knee and hip replacement by 30!

I feel so sorry for you all and we have tried loads of stuff to try to help reduce the out breaks ..sometimes food such as wheat and milk make it worse so he has reduced the intake and it does help

From what we see the condition is triggered by different things for each person
good Luck

No I wont dwell on it....if I did, Id slit me wrists!

Are there any herbal tablets that help...maybe something that can help with detressing?

It's much better today as I started with a cream a couple of days ago. Cant wait for the UV lamp to arrive

It's nice not to be alone feeling like a lepper ;)

Exorex has been fab over the last year but I think my body has now got used to it and its not working as well as it used to

Ive been to the docs and had steroid creams in the past. I think the trick is to alternate the treatment and fool that old body!

The best treatment would be being 'stress free'.....but thats never gonna happen.....well not until I shake a seven ;)

I am in my late 50's and have suffered with psoriasis since my early teens, tried most stuff over the years, from the gicky coal tar, to steroid creams and have been hospitalised twice, for four weeks at a time.

It has settled down over the last few years with just the usual places being affected, knees, elbows, shins and scalp, apart from a bad flare up last year.

Haven't worn a dress/skirt for years and even then always wore tights because I was so self concious (sp?). I have had to learn to live with it.

The best stuff I have used over the last few years is Exorex - very thin and goes a long way. It can be used anywhere on your body, including the scalp. I didn't think it would make any difference but have been pleasantly surprised.

My Dad had it as did his Dad. Generally runs in families and can be connected to asthma - can not remember the connection though

My mum had it on her knees and elbows , and at one time all down the front of her legs don't if it looked worse when it was scaly or very red, and yes I'm sure it was stress that caused it.

She used to take Ascorbic acid tablets, which kept it under some sort of control, but still had bad flare ups, and used to wear trousers then.

After she had a stroke and and several heart attacks it went completely !
I'd have preferred her to have had the Psoriasis and not the other 2 , but that's life:(
My sister and I both have a tiny spot of it ( a cm in diameter) on our tummys, mine is fading and not scaling over the last 5 yrs or so !
Butt I know it can be embarrassing for the person suffering altho other peeps don't notice it as mowtowngal said

Have you asked your Dr for advice Ginny ..?
Best wishes, hope you can find something that works for you:)
