yes it was on the home page as reward for a story, then it disappeared, probably at the office party !

Well if you see a woman weaving about on her mobility scooter outside T****, you'll know I've been to a tasting !

Pinot Grigio blush.

"who won the case of GR wine offered as a prize last year ?"

I love white wine and my favourite is New zealand (marlborough region) sauvignon blanc - usually about £8 or £9 but some great offers at the moment, I got Villa Maria for £5.99 at my local Spar this week (normal price £8.99). yum yum

I like red wine but sadly it doesn't like me :((. Rioja can be very full bodied and not to everyones taste, a good alternative is a cabernet sauvignon. You can get a decent one between £5.99 and £7.99

I quite agree that it all boils down to personal taste. Hubby and I were given a £20 bottle of red wine as a gift a number of years ago and to be honest I wouldn't have even put it on my chips. lol

Susan it does really depend on the grape and the year. I use to hate the stuff, I thought it all tasted like vinegar but then my father in law gave me some of his wine( he has a vineyard in Italy, it has been in the family for 3 generations that we know of) He gave me the same wine from different years. And each tasted different.

if you go to tesco and see what ones they have gift boxed that gives you a rough idea of the most popular ones

I'm useless , one glass and I talk to much, 2 glasses and I'm asleep.!

I wouldn't want to be a skinflint or produce a bottle of vinegar as a thankyou gift !

It depends on region, type of grape and whether you prefer dry or sweet. A full bodied red wine like Rioja or Chianti is always good or the lighter Grignolino although this is a minor grape in Italy, is a good alternative. On the White wine list you can't really go wrong with Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio

It depends on the year whether or not it will not be like vinegar. I would expect to pay between £5 - £15

I agree with Chris, Rioja is good and so is Shiraz, £5-7 would be very acceptable as a gift. But take no notice of me - I like Liebfraumilch!!

rule of thumb the more you pay the better it gets but I have to disagree with that ...sorry Chris...it really does come down to individual taste when you are in the middle price range.
I as a none red drinker have tasted expensive reds which I haven't liked but have enjoyed cheaper but fuller bodied wines better.

Oooo Lindsay* what a dilemma now I do like my wine but it has to be white although if I have to be posh I will do red with red meat.
BUT I can't tell you the best buys around although I know a man who can lol

It really does depend on each persons taste and the budget that is available. after saying that OH knows that some order the dearest when they have no interest and you could have given them 1 step from vinegar.

I will ask OH what he recommends

Now I'm not suggesting that any of you are heavily into it,!

I need your help as I'm useless at choosing wine as a gift. It all tastes the same to me! Yes I know I'm a philistine LOL

So which wine would you like to receive as a well chosen present ?

Oh, and did we ever hear who won the case of GR wine offered as a prize last year ?
