servicing an oil-fired boiler.

Thank you Helen. When we had our own home we always had our boiler serviced yearly, but the Housing association dont do that and wait till it goes wrong. They never have any spares , either. If we take on the servicing, we take on the responsibility for replacing it if things go wrong. |

We live in our own private home, with an oil fired boiler, and there is no requirement for us to have it serviced at all. |

For Gas Boilers, the landlord is responsible for carrying out an annual Gas Safety Check. This must be carried out by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer. The rules are very strict and rigidly enforced. |

I googled oil fired boilers and it said yearly. Contact your City Councillor/MP - that is what they are there for. |

I will have to try and find out because it worries me. My neighbours are in the same situation and I am prepared to start a petition if i can prove that the landlords are liable for servicing annually. |

Can anyone tell me if it is a legal requirment to do this yearly as is the case for gas fired ones? Our housing association says it is not and I had to nag for 5 months to get ours done, and the spare parts needed are still not forthcoming 4 months later. when the council ran things the boilers were always done about every 14 months. |
