Oh I had forgotten all about this thread.

Well Mum got her parcel on Thursday. The warden brought it up to her as it had been found in the hallway. So no idea who had signed for it or if it had been delivered late on Wednesday.

By the time Mum phoned me Thursday evening she had already opened the tin of biscuits and was enjoying them with her cup of tea.

She was very pleased with the parcel althought it was late.

Maybe the parcel had got damaged in the warehouse and they've had to wait for replacement.
I had something similar some years ago, waited in all day for a delivery, no sign of it. Rang them several times, finally got someone who could be bothered to get up off their arse to find out what had happened, found out some parcels had been damaged so needed replacing. I got the parcel a few days later, but it would have been nice if the company could have rung me to start off with to tell me what had happened in the first place.

Could it be that they missed it and your email has jogged them into 'finding' it?

Well how strange.

I emailed Lakeland again early this evening about the non delivery of this parcel.

Apparently my parcel is on its way to the courier !!! Surely it should have been on its way to the courier back in December.

Wonder when Mum will finally get it

I will be more aware if there is a next time, I would usually do that, write unchecked, but was woken up by courier and still half asleep at the door lol

O.h. straightened the corner of the book and gave it to son and nothing said so I guess it's ok.

I have had no problems with Tesco in the past if I wanted to return things, it's only cos they are inundated with emails due to late deliveries etc etc.

This wasn't a grocery order, it was a cookery book that o.h. ordered. His sister works at another tesco store in charge of online shopping for groceries so he should just have called her, to see if she could get the book for him, but of course, he never thinks of anything like that and I steer clear of his family as much as poss. Having said that, she is the relative I get on ok with and we are going round on Friday evening for a visit.

Parcel still not been delivered. I live 400 miles from Mum which is why I ordered online for her.

Never had any problems with Tesco deliveries - think the service is brilliant.

I have had damaged grocery packages from Tesco, and the delivery man has taken them back and credited me straight away. Other times when in the store I have taken faulty goods back and received the money with no fuss.

Sandie, the courier had one of those electronic pads that you sign and I just didn't think but noticed as he handed the package after I had signed that one corner of the cardboard was crumpled, so I asked if I could write packaging damaged, unchecked but he said he had no facility for me to do that.

I am in communication with tesco but at the mo they are inundated with emails because of all the delays so will wait and reply to them in a few days.

I have bought stuff before online and my son is always buying and selling on ebay.

Hope your Mum's pressie turns up eventually.

All the best for 2011

Happy Shopping!

Hi Sandie, are you up late or early lol?

I really meant perhaps the company will send an extra gift as an apology.

I wonder if this year's fiasco coupled with less money and more vat will mean online shopping figures will go down next year at Christmas especially. Or will people just order much earlier?

I rarely shop on line and o.h. hates doing it but did order books for his son and d.i.l. The one from Tesco was damaged at one corner, o.h. had to use it or son wouldn't have had it in time for Christmas but we complained to Tesco, they have had such a high volume of complaints and queries they still haven't sorted it out. I pointed out to the delivery driver that the packaging was squashed up at the corner so there could be damage but as I wasn't the person on the label I wouldn't open it to check and o.h. was at work. The driver said Oh that's nothing, you should see some of the packages! He also said he had no facility for taking complaints or comments, and I had already signed for it before I saw the damaged corner. It's not good enough, is it?

I am sure your Mum will enjoy all the goodies, and she could always have an extra Christmas Dinner so she can eat the pud in style lol Altho she had no present from you to open on Christmas day this gift when it comes will probably cheer her more on maybe a cold dull day.

There are many many people still waiting for their parcels and probably a lot of them children, who won't understand why things they had on their list to Santa didn't materialise or will turn up late. Santa will have some explaining to do!

You might even get something extra to make up for the delay.

My Mum has still not received her Christmas present that was despatched by Lakeland Ltd on 9th December.

She will still love the biscuits, jams and chocolates etc but will she like eating the Xmas puddings after the event.

So she had no Xmas present to open on the day from me.
