Member Since: June 2005 Posts: 15 Send Message	Can anyone tell me if there is a register for domestic servants or some sort of scroll/roll with information on.?I am searching the north london area. Would anything be available on parish or district records.? Does anyone know if Twyford lodge,acton lane,willesden was a refuge for mothers with children born out of wedlock in the 1914 era.? any help would be greatly appreciated. John.

	I only found out where my gran was in service by talking to her, then by letters she wrote - though I only know where she was in service from 1922 - 1925. She first went into service in 1918 Found out where my g grandad was working as a waiter (fortunately for me working on census night) on the 1891 census. Found out where both g grandparents were in service (live-in) on the 1901 census - which was a stroke of luck as g gran was then pregnant, g grandad still married, so they moved and g gran started using g grandad's surname!! (they married 24 years later, when g grandad's first wife died!!)

Member Since: May 2005 Posts: 2 626 Send Message	I believe that Twyford Lodge, Acton Lane was also known as Willesden Workhouse and Infirmary up until 1921 - when the name was changed to Park Royal Hospital.

I was born at park royal hospital in 1957,so this search is becoming more intresting which originally evolved from searching for my step grandfather who died in a Japanese POW camp and his mother resided at twyford lodge. kindest regards. I shall definetley get in touch with the met archives becuase I do enjoy going through these books rather than doing searches online. once again thanks for your help. John.

Member Since: February 2003 Posts: 9 Send Message	Hi John, Ref: Twyford Lodge - my great grandmother died at Twyford Lodge in 1922...she was married with children and her death was registered by her husband. Not sure if this helps at all but i am also interested in the history of this place. Regards, Sandy

Member Since: May 2003 Posts: 3 Send Message	I have just found my uncles death date and got the cert. yesterday. He died 27/09/1926 in Twyford Lodge,Acton Lane and is shown as Pericranial and cervical abscesses and toxaemia. This I think points to the Lodge as some sort of "poor people's" hospital Regards Martin
