I remember playing kisschase when I was young, around 7 or 8 and a lad made a grab for me, pulled my skirt and broke my knicker elastic, you know the old school type bloomers! I was mortified as they fell round my ankles lol

I saw the lad years later when we were in our thirties and he still remembered lol

Bless him, he is another one who has been taken by cancer since then.

I wonder if the young boy is a little more wordly wise than your little one Dawnie (maybe from talking to older boys) and he has told his Dad a different story trying to make himself seem grown up.

His Dad may be at a loss to know how to deal with it but that doesn't excuse him talking about it in front of the children.

I would just like to add that when my own daughter was that age, several of the lads in her class had 'crushes' or whatever and would bring in little items like sweets, little bear etc., for her. It was all very light hearted and one day she said to me 'mum, i dont know which one to marry'.!!!!
A year later, it was the stage that boys and girls were anti each other.
I would stay relaxed, and just keep out a discreet eye open.

I feel the father has a right to his opinion, whatever that is. Maybe he is just not very experienced with the stages of development that children go through, and he is just concerned.?? Although agree he did not go about it in a very good way. :>))

I played Doctors and Nurses and Kiss Chase, at that age Dawnie, and pursued relentlessly a poor boy called Seamus until he kissed me. After I caught him I lost interest and got on with other things. It was just a part of our growing up and experimenting. What a pity the boy's father is making such a big thing of it, though, it only makes it seem more important! BC XX

Maybe this lad has seen more than is necessary at his age, and that's why the father is making a fuss.

My opinion is they're little more than babies and I really can't believe it would be anything but innocent. What on earth does the ex-hubby think is going on? Yes some children mature early but not this early.

What an idiot of a father to speak of this in front of the children, what an example to set his son anyway altho he sounds as tho he might make a habit of dumping himself. I know I don't know why he is an ex hubby, but I think he sounds a bit of a bully so won't be giving good influence to his son.

As long as your girl speaks openly about things so you know what's going on, you have nothing to worry about Dawnie, and I know how good a Mum you are so would have that openness already. I feel sorry for the lad tho and hope they can stay friends with no hassle from the father.

I think that this is not quite as easy as it seems.
Some children grow up faster than others.
It is a delicate situation and needs careful observance, I read recently that two children had a child both the mother and the father are 13 years old, Now of course this is older than the children being thought about but I was only just 10 when i matured, as my mother put it and I am now nearly 65 so girls and boys have matured early for a very long time.
Please do not thiink that I am trying to advise, because I do not have that right, but simply adding my thoughts as requested

Dawnie Please do not think I am trying to tell you what to do because each child and each family are so different and you have already said that you do not have a problem with it and that is what matters

I have no problem with it at all but the other parent does(mother doesnt mind her ex hubby does) and told school it is inappropriate behaviour and wants them split up which they were seperated in the class.

What got to me more was he stopped me in the playground in front of the children and told me, shows how much he knows cos he has made mine more determined now seeing as though he told his son to dump mine. Good job it was me that did school run yesterday cos if had been hubby he would of told him a few home truths about his own behaviour.

Ah - those were the days! My boyfriend at about that age was Stephen R...but I really fancied his friend. Then there was the boy who lived in the grocers shop at the end of the road. He actually married someone from my secondary school - she got teased about him being promised to me - lol

Those relationships were entirely innocent. As long as the boy/girlfriend hasn't been exposed to some of the antics of so called celebraties or gossip/girl magazines, you shouldn't worry. They'll have changed their minds next week.

If you make an issue of it with them then i think they will want to do certain things more and more....... i think most children up to a certain age are innocent as children should be

is it innappropriate for children of 7 or 8 to have 'a boy/girlfriend ' and give them a kiss we arent talking tongues down throat jobs.

I can remember playing Kiss Chase at primary school and so can my eldest .
If you stopped it would you cause them to want to carry it on more whereas if you just let it go it would fizzle out
