Hi I am trying to trace what happened to my GGgrandparents Robert and Annie (nee Moffitt)Summers, he disappeared after 1886 and she went to Lambeth london 1891 but I cannot find trace of her after that, they previously lived in newcastle upon tyne in the westgate area, he was a clerk in the Elswick works, It's seems Annie went with her sons to Lambert for work reasons in 1891 but 1901 finds their youngest son Frederick charles summers born 1886 in Earls house industrial school co durham and also they had 2 daughters Elizabeth Annie born 1873 in newcastle and Margaret Dora born 1873, living with aunt and uncle in Northumberland in 1881 ( annie was at her father's in 1881 with the 3 boys and Robert was at his parents in Gateshead 16 garden street for some reason, when my Great grandfather was born robert seemed to go of the radar after that, no trace of a death in either Lambeth or Newcastle area's, did get one death cert but was the wrong robert, any help would be deeply appreciated as I would love to know what happened to them both ? |

thanks for the look ups, I considered the 1896 death and sent for Death cert but it was the wrong Robert as he was 10 years older, and annie was in Kensington First ( lambeth) in 1891, for some reason her son frederick ended up at an industrial school in Co durham in 1901 then joined the army, the rest of the children stayed in london, just cannot find Robert or Annie after 1891, all of the above addresses are correct as they moved from north east to lambeth 6 pearson street before 1891. also they had 2 daughters who lived with Annies aunt on a farm in northumberland for some reason they never appeared to live with the rest of the family at all at any point unless it was between census's , |

I checked for marriages for annie but drew a blank, A distant relative ordered the death cert of the annie summers death 1896 in camberwell but it's not our annie, and robert seems to have no trace for his death, seems strange that their youngest son ended back up north in Durham by himself and in the Insdustrial school for naughty boys , it's a bit of a mistery, I think Robert died before she went to Lambeth, this is just a theory though, I found where Roberts parents are buried, both at gateshead east cemetary, but as yet still no trace of Robert and annie. still digging |

possibly as they were living at different addresses in 1881 ( or maybe Robert was just visiting his parents and Annie was visiting her father in falcolner street newcastle the night they did the census) they moved to 69 Dilston road, westgate newcastle as that is where Frederick charles ( roberts son) was born in 1886, maybe they were a couple that split got back together and split again , they seemed to live in what would have been classed as nice area's in decent housing at that time it wasn't until the turn of the century that they became run down. |
