Whats wrong with this Website? It is ridden with Error Messages. It takes me ages to access my messages,I have to be persistent through three or four Error Messages first. There is nothing apparently wrong with my Computer and I get rid of my temporary internet files religously twice a day.

William Russell Jones.

The site has been having problems for weeks...if you read the post in 'Announcements' you can then perhaps contact support and let them know... lots of people have already!

PS if they try and tell you it is your browser...ignore...it isn't your browser, pc or anything you are doing :)

Hi William

This is a common complaint from many members and has been for some time. Just take a look at GR's Facebook page, GR recommends that you contact Support ..... not that it will do you any good. lol

Thanks Libby, whilst it is god advice you give,I think Jiminycricket has hit the nail on the head.I've been getting rid of my Temporary Internet Files and failing to tick the "Preserve favourites website data" box.

William, it is a fault in the site that has been recognised by genes reunited staff. They are asking for the errors to be reported, as one can see in the announcements board.
They are intermittent errors.

Definitely a GR prob. They fixed it a few days ago and then it went wonky again. It's really annoying isn't it? Cx

Definitely intermittent, in varying parts of the site, whether or not cookies are cleared out, browser updated etc.

Genes reunited wants errors to be reported; that is why, from many errors being reported on its facebook page, it made the announcement about them:
"We have been made aware that some members are experiencing error messages when using Genes Reunited. We are aware of this problem and are working on fixing this. We are trying to find a pattern as to why this error occurs and it would be extremely helpful if all of those people experiencing the error message would email [email protected] with your log in email address."

I remember one particular day, an error was being experienced at an identical time in three or four countries.

I'm just kicking this back up top because I am sick to the back of my eyes with this nonsense and the total disregard of the site management for its paying users.

NO, InspectorGreenPen, and please no one pay any attention to that bilge.

This has NOTHING TO DO with users.

It is NOT a timeout problem (not one caused at the user's end, anyway).

The error message received is SITE-GENERATED, it is NOT generated by the user's browser.

The problem is most commonly experienced when trying to access one's Inbox, so someone who doesn't do that regularly is unlikely to experience the problem often if ever.

I have this happen EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to access my Inbox, and it sometimes takes 4 or 5 reloads to access the page.

Here, I'll do it now so I can get a copy of the error message:

Error
Sorry. An error has occurred
We can't take you to the page you wanted. The problem has been logged and our team will be working on it.
Thanks for understanding. We're really sorry for any inconvenience!

What "team" is that, then, InspectorGreenPen -- the gremlins who live in the Internet and creep around it with screwdrivers fixing what ails it?

Or was this message generated by GENESREUNITED, which in fact has not logged the error, is not working on it, and doesn't actually give a flying fig about the inconvenience?

This has nothing to do with timeouts, nothing to do with the user's browser, nothing to do with the user's server.

It is a fault at this site management's end -- one that *I* have been experiencing for nearly a year, and for months got stupid answers from the old site management about, nonsense about my browser and my cache and yada yada yada yada, until the new site management identified a problem and apparently fixed it (names in contact list containing non-alphanumeric symbols).

This seems to be a new problem. And I am sick to the back of my eyes of it.
