I might not be on here much for the next few days, am desperately trying to find some holiday accommodation for our week off in June and it's proving harder than usual, maybe more people are staying in the UK this year but lots of reasonably priced places are all booked, our favourite cottage is booked, and many places - well the cost is astronomical! I know our local coast is nice but over £500 for a week in a tiny cottage seems a bit excessive and guess what, they are the ones with lots of vacancies.

I fell asleep over a site just now lol so am off to bed early(for me) and will be trying again tomorrow night. If my o.h. wasn't so picky about what sort of place he wants to stay in (not terraced, not on a road, must have a garden to sit out, must be within walking distance of coast and doesn't want to drive far etc etc) it would be easier. I thought I had cracked it weeks ago with a good place in Llanelli at our favourite Millenium Quay apartments but he didn't want to take two weeks or drive that far!

I have put this up so folk don't wonder where I am lol

take care folks

Huia, what a shame I wasn't around to see your post, I would have loved to speak with you. I will send you my phone number in case there is another special offer.

This thread was a bit of a sham, altho I do have to find a holiday venue!
I actually was away from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening.

I persuaded my o.h. to take me to Sheffield and pay for hotel accommodation so that I could surprise Dutch at her meet, and get to meet Sallie and the others, as well as see her granddaughters and their children. If someone had put a thread up asking where I was and Dutch had come online and seen it she would have guessed I had caught her out again as I did at the Liverpool meet two years ago lol and I didn't want to spoil the surprise. I did let Jude and Caz into the secret but Joyce had no idea, her face was a picture when I walked into the restaurant, especially as I was talking to her and Jude on the phone at the time, pretending to be making contact while she was in England and at the meet lol O.h. got a mini video of it, hilarious!

I also persuaded my o.h. to take me on a further eighty mile round trip to meet our Caz, which was lovely. It meant instead of heading for home on Sunday at noon we headed further north and managing with my scribbled instructions from Caz's lovely hubby we got to her home with only one minor hiccup. I had only rung her that morning to see if she felt up for a visit and it was so good to see her and Cocky too. Now when I see her posts or talk on the phone to her I can picture her and where she will be sitting.

After a cuppa and a chat and a laugh, we headed south again and decided to travel further down the M1 instead of cross country so we didn't end up behind so many lorries. That worked fine to start with until I managed to miss the exit junction we needed and ended up driving close to another town where I knew our Deanna lived. Another quick phone call and we had a further loo and cuppa stop arranged, but had to get directions from her son and soon got muddled. Bless him, he came out to us about three miles or so away and guided us back to Deanna's where we had more laughs and a chat and a cuppa and then he printed out a route back to the main road. T, you are a star, thank you.

We finally got home around a quarter to ten after stopping at a Burger King place locally for a bite to eat and I soon had the car unpacked and everything sorted, and fell asleep on the sofa!

Will tell the tale of the hotel we stayed at, oh dear what a place lol, this evening but must say I had a great time and was so happy to meet so many of my 'cyber' friends including Jude who I had met before.

Jude I haven't read the rest of the threads yet but have seen your pm. I am so sorry you couldn't stay at the meet but it was lovely to see you again. Will pm you later today when I am less tired and will phone you later in the week.

Sorry to be so devious folks, all done with the best of intentions!

love
Lizxx

p,s. I will have to get stuck in and find something good for the hols now, in three weeks we should be away from home again for a week so not long to get a nice place booked.

Hi Sylvia, it was worth all the persuading of o.h. and the hard work getting ready as he was at work till the last minute almost. I have to give him credit, he did all the driving as I was tired and paid almost all the costs even a nice dinner on Saturday evening when we returned to the meet restaurant as the food looked so tempting. It pretty much lived up to expectation especially the lovely gateaux and cheescakes recommended by Joyce's granddaughter lol

I have to get back to my diet now lol

Oh dear, now I have had a ticking off from one person I visited for not letting them know I got home safely, but at past ten I didn't like to disturb them and forgot to send an email when I was on here early this morning lol
Will phone and eat humble pie!

Joyce is on the coach back to Liverpool but it's been in traffic so taken hours longer than it should and she has cramp, no food or water and nothing to eat since breakfast, after which her grandson's gf with whom she stayed apparently fell asleep so no lunch prepared. Poor Joyce, she said she won't be off the coach till past 5pm and then has to be picked up to go to her friend.

Not good for a diabetic so hope she will get something to eat soon and be ok.

Purple SD - too late for this year and I don't know your home circumstances but for next year! I do a self catering holiday every year (sometimes even twice depending on budget - but I do go off-season. The better times are after the Easter holidays and before half term, and after the school summer holidays and before half term in the autumn - often as much as half the price of high season. The early May ones are probably warmer, and of course longer evenings. Some agencies also offer further discounts on some properties if you are only two people in a larger cottage.

Best of luck for this summer of course!

Thanks Elizabeth, I have been really lucky with places found in the past and on one of our favourite cottages, there is always a discount for couples only even tho we use two bedrooms.

I just really wanted a holiday when the days were longer, as most times we go away in late September due to fitting in with his family occasions.

As I mentioned, I did find a nice place at Millenium Quay in Llanelli, another favourite place of ours, and the woman reduced it to £349 a week but then he decided a week was enough at the mo and we will have two weeks later in September probably, possibly abroad if we get our passports renewed. He also decided that too long a journey wasn't on and I can't press that point now as he drove me to Yorkshire and back at the weekend.

Will knuckle down to sorting something over the next couple of days.

Lizx

just grovelled to the person I visited and didn't let know I was home safely so we are still friends lol

Hi Everyone, it was lovely seeing Liz. She is just as she is on the phone.... except '3D' ;-0)
so I was able to hug her, and insult her in person.... pure luxury.... ha ha ha .

My Allan And Tony liked her too. My only complaint is that it was far too short a visit, perhaps another time.X
Bless you Joyce,I hope your journey home was an easy one.
Heard all about your babies and daughter, and saw pictures too.

Love to all,
Deanna X
