Is essential maintenance being carried out?

I have been unable to access GR for the last two days. I keep getting a message 'Sorry essential maintenance is being carried out'. Are other people finding there is a problem or could it be my computer. If so, is there anything I can do? I have got on the site via genesreunited.co.za at someones suggestion.

I had to do the same yesterday Brian, but seems ok today through UK site. It's not just you, lots of members having the same problem .

I got on at 8am this morning, but after about 10 minutes, couldn¨t change boards or read posts. Eventually got the essential maintenance message, even when trying to log out.
I appreciate that maintenance has to be carried out, but why can´t we have some warning.
Ancestry has it´s faults, but at least we are given notice in advance of maintenance. :-(

2.35 pm. Still can´t access some boards, nor log out.

I had problems yesterday and still can't get on Genealogy Chat and Find Ancestors boards keep getting the same message as you Brian.



15.45 Just thought I would try logging in elsewhere and I can access the boards. Previously I was using Google Chrome couldn't get access but I can on Internet Explorer.

I had the same problems from Sunday when I logged on late and all day Monday but touch wood, seems ok now. When I finally got on yesterday the layout was different and clumsy and I couldn't read messages, all so infuriating I sent several emails to support and got replies saying they are looking into the problems as it wasn't just me. I hope they sort things out soon so the site stays accessible and consistent. I am sure all these changes they keep making upset things - just wish they would leave well alone.

yep same here logged on to read my messages done a reply message went to locate some one in my tree then got the same message 'Sorry essential maintenance that was at 1540 today whats this you can log on to Gens through another country ? can i do the same any help cheers

I had to log on every time I came back to this site despite having the remember me box ticked. I was advised to delete my shortcut and make a new one. This seems to have solved my problem. Perhaps it will work for you??

There are so many, many threads about the same thing, day after day. Getting logged out, getting error messages ....... they have been going on for some time, and yes, everybody is experiencing one or more of the problems at least intermittently.

Please take a look at the Suggestions board from time to time. There are threads there about problems with the board, and in some there are posts by GR developer Phil explaining some things that are happening and asking members for information about the problems they are having.

..... unless you can't access the Suggestions board .....

Using the other portals -- za, nz, etc -- does seem to work for many people.
