That man is a true inspiration to us all. For someone who witnessed his son's murder, and who even gave him CPR in vain, as a parent I would have been so grief-stricken and in shock I wouldn't be able to function, let alone plead for peace and control a mob on the day it happened, let alone for the next few days.

The dignity with which he and the other father of the other two boys, and their brother has been amazing, and a lesson to us all.

Those men, and the likes of Asraf Haziq, the Malaysian student, who was also dignified in his own response to what had happened, will be the iconic figures of these riots for a long time to come. A fine example for us all to learn a lesson from.

It never ceases to amaze me just how many times good comes out of evil

He is an inspiration to many and is making sure his son and the two other men won't be forgotten in a hurry. I hope he finds some comfort in helping to bring people together and can hold on to the strength he has shown.

The older gentleman who was murdered when he tried to put out fires near his home is also to be applauded, it apparently wasn't the first time he had tried to stop bad behaviour in his district, this time he paid with his life.

I hope Tariq is remembered in the next round of honours, he's far more deserving of recognition than many who have been honoured in the past.

I think the biggest thing we can learn from this is not to hide away in silence any more. As a society, not as individuals I hasten to add, COLLECTIVELY, we need to stand up to the minority of yobs who are intent on wrecking things. Tariq shows us the way, with inner strength and voice. It provoked an instant reaction of calm and respect. Imagine, if that's what one man can do, what can a collective society do?
