Need your advice please on appropriate funeral hymns. My dear Mums funeral is next week and I did think I would like Jerusalem to be sung as its my favourite, mum didnt really one as such. I really not sure, what do you all think or can anyone please suggest any hymns you think would be lovely for a funeral. Thank You :-( |

Another good hymn for a funeral is the "The Old Rugged Cross". I think Jerusalem is a great hymn and I am sure your dear Mum would have trusted your judgement. Was there a particular song that she did love as nowadays it is popular to include a recording of a much loved song making the service more personal? Funeral Directors and Vicars are so helpful with this sort of thing these days. |

The Lord's My Shepherd and Abide with Me are very traditional hymns for funerals but, if your mum was a churchgoer, then the world is your oyster and you could browse through the hymnbook the church uses. |

My condolences to you. My favourite is the beautiful 'Dear Lord and Father of Mankind' - it was sung at my wedding and I would like it to be sung at my funeral. |

hi there, so sorry to hear of your mum's passing. When my best friend died 3 years ago we had "make me a channeller of thy peace." I just think the words are so comforting. when there is darkness, let there be light. |

I've been to 6 funerals this year, only one of them hasn't featured "Amazing Grace", most have had either "Jerusalem" or "The Old Rugged Cross. It's funny how, in this modern day and age, the old ones are still the most popular. |
