Sandy.

Thank you for this information. I will try it and will look again to see if there is any more messages from you.
I have an elderly relative who wants to see it and I feel that I must try to give her what she wants.

Do you know which family tree programme it is?

Island,
I know so little about his that I feel really stupid!
I would like to down load the Ford part of my tree if possible.
A family member who lives in the UK. has asked if she can have a copy sent to her son in law in the UK.

Re your question it is on here and An....ry.
Does that help.?

Hi Bridget,

Currently there are problems with printing trees from GR. Theoretically you should be able to just click on 'print' but it is just coming up with a balnk page for me and others have mentioned this too.

I don't know about printing from Ancestry as I'm with Find My Past.

Maybe someone with Ancestry can help with that one?

Just been playing about with Ancestry - although there is a link on the home page, it seems to be a 'project' you have to create and then purchase, which is not what you are after. You may be able to print it out for free - something to experiment with.

The only other alternatives I can see are to print off from either the 'Pedigree' or 'Family' view. However, when looking at the print preview on my PC, it also wants to print out all the 'garbage' shown on the screen. Not something you'd be happy sending to someone else.

Had you considered 'inviting' the son to view your tree on Ancestry? You can give him the option of viewing living people. You'd need to email him directly from Ancestry.

From the home page, click on Family Trees
Find the tree you want - you may have several
Under the name of the tree, there are 2 options, one of which is 'Manage Tree'.
If you click on that, on the green bar is TREE SETTINGS - tree info - privacy settings - sharing.

Click on 'sharing' then 'invite people'

Follow the instructions from there.

Failing that, there are various blank forms you can download for free and fill in by hand. You'd need to do an internet search for them, using terms such as Pedigree chart, fan chart,

Ah DetEcTive

That sounds a good idea to me. I am tidying all my info at the moment into new folders which will I hope make my life a little easier.
I have just come of Ancestry because a few years ago I di mange to print some info, because I just found it bi=ut not what is being requested. I did try the build a book but it would cost a little more than £90.00 and I cannot afford that!!!
Actually I prefer GR as I have found it to be more accurate.

Will have a go tomorrow

Good morning to everyone on this thread.

Yesterday after a great deal of frustration and not willing to pay £120.00 plus to get my tree delivered in what I must say would be a really nice book, (perhaps a birthday gift next year ) I decided to send info by email from all the paper work I have. This proved to an interesting project, as being a Gemini I am not the tidiest in keeping things in NY certain order, even though I have helped others to do so.
Given that it is a direct family member who would like the info and is in her 80s I started with my grandparents and checked my paper work as well. Threw away duplicate info, used the folders I had bought and made a front page of order of info.
OH made a few suggestions and now I have five family names each in their own folder all with accurate and documentation.

So buying more folders etc today and will continue until all surnames have been completed.

Still a bit cross that it is not easy to download.
I will though also look out for the charts suggested by Det.

Thanks again for your advice and interest.

Bridget

Aha! I've found another way of printing it off!!!

Go to what ever view you want - pedigree or family - on the left there is a vertical slide and tool bar. The last (bottom) image is of a printer. Click on that and a 'Printer Friendly' version opens in a new window!!!

Problem partially solved :-D :-D

Still, at least it has motivated you to sort out all your bits of paper ;-)
