I had one. It died.

The water in the thingy can be used in your steam iron.

after I bought mine somebody told me about something that can go wrong with them which involves super heated steam being recirculated inside them but I wasn't really listening and it has never happened to mine.

Had one for about 15yrs now, had a couple of electric parts replaced but other than that no problems with it. Been kept out in the garage until about 3 months ago when I brought it indoors.

No idea how often I have to empty the container but its not often and there is w arning light telling you.

The only drawback I've noticed [since bring it indoors] is the noise while it's warming up, once warm it does become quieter but I couldn't run it during the night

The smell from the fabric conditioner when drying goes around the house :-D

I've got one, it works quite well, It's in the spare room, I open the window when in use and you have to empty the water bottle a few times. OH cleans the condenser a couple of times a year. Haven't got anywhere to put a vented one

I've got one...i am a heavy user of it and I've had it about 6 yrs with no probs.

Like Stray says...you just have to remember to empty the water tray...otherwise...it's all good x

I have one and the trick is to keep the water container empty and clean the main filter every week. Not the fluff filter, the main one through which the water particles are drawn.

I do think they take slightly longer to dry towels but you do avoid the unattractive hole in the wall.

Have to agree, I dont think they dry as well as the old fashioned vented ones, but think they are more econmical, so they may take longer to dry, but probably use less electricity.

Had mine for years, no problems with it...

Thanks for all your replies, i thought they were supposed to be more economicle to run, our old one is on almost day & night.

Condensing one we had overheated, and packed up, mind you it was second hand, we were given it by friends who said it played up every now and then that was many years ago.
Now have a vented one in the back of the garage, which suits me, only down side is having to go in and out in this cold weather to use it.

You can get a adapter for them so you don't have to empty the water tray/bottle as long as there is a drain near it.
I have mine next to my washing maschine and have had no problem.
